Have not recruited the cat but after it stopped showing up in fountain rooms for me it moved to the room in between the first and second floors of the surface
Oh thanks.

Discovered I'm missing the accessories marked T, U, and Y.

Had a pretty good run going, still needed to spend three DDs on Chronos' first form, then I immediately died to his second. I'm honestly not sure if I'm good enough to beat him, he's definitely harder than Hades.

It's too early for me to say if he's harder or not but the second form is some Final Fantasy 14 ass fight design, you've got MMO AOE markers going off everywhere. It's just a much different style of fight. It's less about watching the boss's attack patterns and more about staring at the floor, lol
I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig!

I'm kind of bummed that only 2 familiars are available at the moment. I really wanted to get the doggo or the polecat as a familiar and they just disappeared permanently as soon as I was given the ability to get familiars. Though I understand why, they just haven't been programed in yet lol.

Thanks for posting this btw, I was wondering if I was missing something and I was planning to ask the same question, phew.

Another question I have and am wondering if I'm missing something: has anyone in the game explained what happened to Melinoe's arm? I was wondering that for a while (especially since the hide-and-seek childhood memory had her with a regular arm) and I've seen one instance, came absolutely out of nowhere in a conversation she had with Icarus alluding to something between the two of them being the cause. So I'm wondering if I missed something or it'll be more elaborated on in the future (or if it just won't be addressed beyond that conversation...). Also thinking maybe I haven't spoken to Hades enough yet because I would expect him to ask what's up with that.
They might address that at some point; in some of the original myths half of her body is black and half is white, so maybe its a slight spin on that. I havent seen anything about it in the game yet though.

The skulls don't seem to do enough damage to deal with Chronos, though maybe that's just me.

Yeah, I won with the skulls earlier only because I was lucky enough to stack a ton of Cast stuff, most importantly the Zeus boon that lets you move around & choose your cast placement, and I was just running around spamming omega casts both phases of the fight. Not sure I even did a skull attack.

Each of the other 4 weapons I've got an "aspect" that I'm very good with and comfortable using but none of the skull options work for me (Flames Aspect of Eos is 100% my jam). Even the skull omega attack is underwhelming.

I figure any skull run I have is going to be majority dependent on casts and/or specials, though I still need to try the skull aspect with the "glory" powerup
I got that "Hope Preserved" thing to pop up myself and checked through my boons and effects, and nothing seemed to correlate with it. I'm pretty sure it healed me, and my guess is that it happens when you survive several consecutive rooms with very low health, because I had definitely just done so when it triggered.

--Just did a search and it's that Well of Charon item (after the duration, heal X amount). Once it triggers it isn't on your screen anymore so that's why I didn't see anything explaining it.

Yeah I got it covered last page (post 80), was great to solve that mystery, when i saw it pop up I dont think I literally did the Leo-DiCaprio-pointing meme but the mental equivalent at least, lol

It doesn't get an icon in the same area with other "duration" items/chaos stuff, though? that's interesting... I'll keep an eye out next time I buy it.
Im sure it does, but by the time Preserved Hope pops up over your head, the effect is over and isnt in your menu anymore

Yeah I kinda feel like they should've just held it back until it's finished? Hard to say what the best approach for early access games is. But it was definitely annoying to have it cut short, especially when I beat it on my first uncursed attempt.

The other characters also act like you just beat Chronos afterward, and since I haven't done that legit yet it got slightly spoiled for me I guess. Weird.

Struggling with the weapons, as others have said. I need an equivalent of the bow from the first game, where it's insanely strong and super long range and kills everything and has practically zero flaws.
nvm I found it, it's the skulls =)

I beat Chronos for real and got new dialogue so I'm choosing to write off the dialogue after beating Eris as something that will make sense retroactively once the rest of that area is finished.

Was thinking about getting the Hades II soundtrack, I bought the first game's when I played it, but I don't think I'll get this one (yet) because it's once again bringing a pet peeve of mine that the first game's soundtrack did - massive switchups and motif changes partway through a song so you can't just listen to the "song" you want to on repeat.

I don't remember who I was fighting in Ephyra when I noticed this sick techno beat thumping in the background and I'm like, holy crap, for a game (and its predecessor) with great tracks this is so different and just takes it up to a new level. A similar and even better variation kicks in for the region boss fight too, yeah?

So I decide to look it up on youtube and Supergiant has all the tracks posted and sure enough they did it again. Check out Doomed City and you'll see half the track being standard (and still good!) Hades fare, before the switch at the 3:55 mark to what I really want to listen to. Then it gets even worse with Sightless Shepherd whcih also gave me one of my favourite youtube comments I've seen in a while (keeping in mind it's a 6 1/2 minute track): "3:28 Cooking Starts 5:22 Meal's ready". I lol'd, it's so true, and yeah I only want to listen to the part from 3:28 onwards so the only options are to download the song and splice it myself or wait & hope somebody else does it? damn.

Congrats on the win!! but I think you may be the only skull appreciator in the topic, lol. I mean, it's like the bow if the bow had 3 arrows and you had to go retrieve the arrows by hand isn't it...
Got halfway through chronos second form with the axe. I might have won, but at some point he did this one attack that killed half my health by itself.

Thanks! I used to use the bow, and you'd need to retrieve the casts in Hades 1 anyway, so maybe I'm just used to the loop of: attack at close range -> retreat while enemy attacks -> attack from long range -> approach when safe. There were definitely situations where I lost track of the skulls and got punished but it still felt exceedingly safe compared to the other weapons.

I think if I want to use the other weapons well I have to get used to using the omega attacks more often, but they just don't fit my playstyle. Even with the bow in Hades 1 I barely used its charge shot.

Try taking the Hades boon that makes Chronos summon half as many minions if you haven't already, it makes the fight a lot less chaotic and more about just reacting to whatever Chronos does.

sorry to post non-Hades-related items in here but this is my first Steam experience and I just got this thrown at me:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/9/99e4c6d4.png

??????????????

....and I just googled and it says Steam goes down every Tuesday. But it doesn't mention what hours on Tuesday? why don't I recall having this problem when I was playing the hell out of this game last Tuesday? There's no indication anywhere that Steam is down either and it still gives me the "Play" option for the game, damn...

Most importantly I never want to get that message again. Would choosing the "Go Offline" option from Steam menu solve this? How can I make a local backup copy of my save file in case Steam fucks my save file over?
Finally beat Chronos. I was using the Staff of Momus, but I never used its special ability. Turns out, you can do a lot of damage if you get every possible +beam bonus.

If youre only playing on one machine, you should be fine just ignoring cloud saves completely. I think theres an option to turn off cloud saves if you right click on the games name in your library and check the Settings

yeah you're right and I am just using one computer so there's no problem there.

But thinking about a day in the future where I do change computers, if I resume the cloud save setting option when I've made a ton of progress offline... it would update the cloud save to have all my offline progress, wouldn't it?

as I'm typing this I tried it again and it worked with the cloud save setting again so I guess I'll just punt this down the road for the next time it happens and I freak again, lol.

hmmm, Momus was the "omega special heals" one? the staff is the only Melinoe aspect I'm still using since I have a good groove with omega attack spam, but I failed with it in my last Chronos run. might need to investigate Momus!

Momus was recommended to me because you can use its special to never drop far below 50%, or so I'm told. I didn't really bother understanding how to use it properly because the only enemies that could get me below 50% were Chronos and Cerberus, and I was too busy to experiment while fighting them.

Beat Chronos again, with the staff this time. I got the hammer upgrades for double strike and extra reach + damage, plus Coarse Grit and a couple quite good Zeus boons (people are saying that Zeus is OP this time and I think I agree).

Chronos definitely feels impossible at first in a way that Hades in the first game didn't, but after you learn his moves he really stops being much of a threat. Still don't think I could beat him with the dinky flame weapon though...!
"You're childish. What are you getting? Are you getting strawberry? Ha! That's such a childish flavor, only children eat strawberry."
staff double strike hammer is my fav, yeah sometimes it's nice getting into position to hit people on both sides with your omega attack but realistically you're just aiming in front of you the vast majority of the time.

Coarse Grit I love so much, not sure I've lost a run yet where I had it, i wonder if/how much they're going to nerf it. Up the damage cap, up the earth element requirement? hell, switch it to Legendary status so it shows less often, I can see that.

the key to the dinky flame weapon is the Hera magic-prime-refresh boon, then just holding down attack and moving/dashing around the field (even better with the Aspect of Eos). Hera boon auto-tops-up your magic so your omega doesn't get stalled, and I love when I get to pair it with the moon "80% slower" hex, even more if you get the ability to attack faster while the hex is active. Just need to make sure it's paired with something giving you a good attack boost, the Zeus chain lightning is handy there too. But in any case, it is my clear #2 next to the Aspect of Pan knives!!
I might have used the wrong name but I had the hammer upgrade that makes the staff's regular attack hit twice, not the one for the omega attack. That one's good too but I get more mileage out of boosts to regular moves than omega moves, personally.

Coarse Grit is obviously good but I'm not sure it needs a nerf since you really have to commit to the earth element to make it work. I didn't get to 6 until area 4.

Gonna keep that in mind about the flames but needing one specific build is still pretty rough!

Bad news: I posted earlier about the spike in requirements to go from 29 to 30 grasp and I thought I couldn't do it because one of the ultra-rare items was never showing up again (needed 3 of it) but I finally got the other two I needed, and went and upgraded to 30 grasp and.... am then informed 30 is the maximum. Can't upgrade the grasp any further.

So much for my dream of grinding to get somewhere in the 30s and open up another card or two, I'm sitting on like 2000+ psyche too. Damn!! I mean ideally the cap gets raised with later patches or the full release, or maybe this will indeed be all there is...

yeah I think 100% of my Eris wins involve cheesing with the pillars. Just went back and checked and majority of my wins are the axe and staff, omega attacks each go through the pillar. I forget if the flames do too but I had 1 win with them, nice.

of course in the midst of your cheesing you need to watch out for the attacks that blow the pillar away, I remember the first time I learned the lesson of not having either pillar to cower behind, lol.
Eris can be beaten even if you lose both pillars but she racks up damage fast so you really have to pay attention. And the last 5% of her health is. A Struggle.

It's Reyn Time.
Oh there was a patch released today, neat. I'll have to go back and clean up topside

You now can gather from any resource point once you have unlocked the corresponding Gathering Tool ; you now can Prioritize any available Tool in the Training Grounds to make its resources appear as often as before, while resources for Tools you do not Prioritize will appear far less often

thank FUCK

Also it looks like they nerfed the Eris gating in some way

oh and nudged the dash closer to Hades 1 levels apparently

I had seen some complaints about it, namely that it has less or delayed iframes or something like that (separate from the new cooldown), but I'm gonna be real; I'm not good enough at the game to notice that level of detail.

....seriously? I mean I wanted this so that's good but now I wonder if it's too broken, like it feels like there's a resource opportunity in every room, lol. Also invalidates the animal companion a bit, I guess they come with a benefit other than resource-gathering but still.

I did notice the crossroads fishing wasn't giving the promised "wait" turns so nice to see that addressed in the patch. I wonder what the Eris one-time bonus item they mention was...

Fixed Satyr Hoplites retaining the ability to block while afflicted with Twilight Curse (Selene)

ok I got impacted by this more than once and it was driving me crazy, lol. Love that the devs are addressing these things.

I don't know how far Hades 1 EA went, personally I'm super impressed with this game's early access. Did Hades 1 have the infinite loop of beating Hades and not going into Greece/progressing the story past that point? Did it have the full array of Mirror options or more introduced later? I need to look what was in the Hades 1 EA unless somebody wants to tell me...
It did eventually have the Hades fight but once you won and went through the door you'd get various funny dialogue from the narrator and then went back to the House. I can't remember if Heat was implemented in EA though

Yeah it feels like a weird change for this reason. The pets are definitely more valuable for resources than for any combat benefit (though it's extremely funny when Hecate gets mad about Frinos blocking her sheep curse)

^ there's a cauldron spell which details the requirements for each boon, I don't know its name since I got something brewing right now and can't skip time since I had a hot springs date. Can't recall when the spell unlocks. Was thinking of typing them out but it's just too much - the common throughline for each of them is they need "1 of" a boon from 3 distinct categories, sometimes getting very specific (i.e. only 1 boon in one of the three groupings) but yeah you need 3 (or more) boons from a god before you can get the legendary.

the exception being Hermes whose requirement is just "1 of" nine of his eleven other boons (the two that don't qualify are Tall Order and Quick Buck)

actually screw it I forgot I could take screenshots. here's all the legendary boon requirements (besides Hermes) (I'm sure gamefaqs will compress the hell out of it but ideally it's still legible)

I'm rounding near the end of my Hades 2 playing for now, which is good timing since I have a vacation coming up, and fair enough since Steam says I've put 83 hours into it, damn. The thing that's annoying me is I can't get anywhere close to beating 32 fear, and I would really like to beat the Surface 32 Fear and get credit for it now while it's in its shortened state, but I really just cannot do it, damn

Will need to hope the 6th weapon, new aspects or lifting the grasp maximum happen in the future because there's no way I'm gitting gud enough to do it, 32 fear in this is seriously like 40+ heat in original Hades, damn. Missing the shield more than ever now.

there is no other way, and the Dark shows up pretty damn rarely, so get in the habit of going into Chaos at every opportunity and cross your fingers.

Absorbing the Q special w/ Momus you need to be in the blast radius when it goes off. I assume it works if you're right next to an enemy when you blast them, but I used it just by being up against a wall and blasting. It only heals you 5 HP but man it really made all the difference on my 32 fear runs.

Everybody else too busy playing to give updates in here or what? lol. Congrats though I still don't like the wand slander, Aspect of Eos w/ Born Gain top tier!!! (Born Gain really is so broken)

I just finished off the final testament run, Skulls 20 fear, again getting lucky with my skull routine - zeus "choose cast spot" and both demeter casts to give +50% dmg buff. Throwing skulls was just icing on that cake. 2nd last run was axe 20 fear and first experience w/ Aspect of Charon which is also super busted if you get the right combo, once you get the Zeus cast or Hestia's glowing coal it's over. Loved it.

So now I really am 100% done playing the game for now, really going to try waiting to hunt down the remaining prophecy items until the next game update. 102 hours played per Steam... really loving this game so far (so far? it almost feels complete), so many little details I love. Looking forward to more of it!!
