I've done this style of poll contest once before, back in either Gen VII or Gen VIII, so why not try it again now? The rules are simple: each day, I'm going to post a poll for a given Pokemon typing, with each generation's roster of new Pokemon filling in that typing. You just need to look at what each generation had to offer, and select which generation you think brought the best new roster (for any reason; you could say that a single Pokemon was so good that it overwhelms everything else the generation spawned, or you could select a generation that may be more well-rounded that the one that created your personal favorite). At the end of the day, one generation will be crowned a champion (with potential tiebreakers if need be), and that generation will advance to a second round, where the eighteen winners, and fourteen strongest runner-ups will be sorted into a 32-entrant tournament to crown which generation produced the best overall roster of a single typing.

The tournament has now begun. The discussion topic is here: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/80744044 and the bracket is here: https://www.bracketmaker.com/tlist.cfm?tid=478370

Gen I won its first match of round two, but can it repeat two matches in a row (Gen V was the only generation to accomplish this in round one, despite Gen I having multiple opportunities to do so itself). Meanwhile, Gen VI looks to survive where Gen IV did not, as only four of the sweet sixteen come from outside Gens I, III and V.

More quality top to bottom in Gen VI dragon
does anyone even read this
Dragon easily
"Foolishness, Dante. Foolishness... Might controls everything. And without strength, you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself."

These are still some good Dragons.
Change is weird.
VI Dragons wins this handily methinks. Gen I Electric is a bit overrated. Outside of Raichu and Zapdos with Jolteon in a fairly distant third I kinda stop caring. Every other Electric mon is just along for the free ride. Well aside from the mascot of the anime, but that's its own can of Wurmples.

Meanwhile, there's not a single Dragon from VI I would describe as mediocre. A couple of the Megas are a bit overdesigned, but at least none of them are boring.

gen 1 electric isn't exactly my favourite gen for electric but the fact that gen 6 dragon of all things is still here with a slew of active downgrades in design for mega forms and some of the least inspiring generational marquee lines ever is certainly something else
Yeah, as much as I like the Megas mostly, I have to saw that aside from Tyrunt/Tyrantum, the rest of the Gen VI-exclusive Dragon roster is...lacking. Meanwhile, there are no duds among Gen I Electric's line-up.

Tough choice. Jolteon is definitely my favorite Pokemon here, and I don't generally like Megas but Charizard, Ampharos, Rayquaza, and Altaria are great. Tyrantrum is awesome and I like Noivern a lot too. I'd probably take all of those over any Gen 1 Electric aside from Joleton and maybe Raichu. Then again, there's also some duds like Dragalge and Zygarde, and some of the Megas aren't great (Mega Garchomp is a disgrace).

Ultimately I went with the Dragons but I don't feel great about it
