Yeah, it wound up not being so bad. My main issue was that I thought I had to disc jump climb, which is unnecessarily difficult. Don't ask why I thought that was the right approach.

For the 32 egg item, there's one room near the bottom left of the map where it's important and will allow you to figure out where to use it.

I've been looking for an infinite disc climb challenge. I got the bubble last so I've been using disc-wall-jump as my main climbing tool and I still kinda prefer it even though it's riskier. But most places seem to be designed for bubble and only require 1 disc jump at most.

I found this place that seems totally doable but hard af. I know there's another way but it's so enticing to sequence break. Haven't been able to get past the spikes though.. There's also a chest that I don't know how to get yet below.

I do not think it is worth going that way (and I also tried).

I ended up coming from the other direction and it also wasn't helpful, but I have a hunch as to why.

Used a guide to find the last six eggs and got the second ending.

There's still more to do (I apparently need 15 more rabbits) , but I think that stuff is probably deeper than I want to delve in this game.

Might just read about what I'm missing.

ESA is really good but if you want to 100% it without using guides, good luck. Some of the latter parts of that game are incredibly obtuse.

Yeah, Animal Well is kinda like this which is why I'm not gonna 100% it. Some of the "layer 3" puzzles are set up so that you don't even realize they're puzzles, and I expect ESA is probably the same way.

haven't picked up animal well (yet) since i've got things from last month to get on first but i figured i'd also add that ESA was definitely what i considered the best metroidvania of 2015 and also best indie metroidvania really ever up to that point rabi-ribi upstaged it for me a year later but i digress . brilliant game, i felt it was a shame it was so heavily overlooked compared to axiom verge, though given the game's difficulty it was understandable

Yeah I had the same feeling when I realized. Fortunately it's apparently just a bonus and not anything important.

If you are missing a match, there's one near the very beginning that's easy to miss. It's right above the platform that you have to raise with a crank.

Yuppp I did not have that one. And I just got the 5 cat item and it's awesome.

Also got another bunny from the top left platforming challenge. I actually thought it required bubble but it's all multi-disc moves. I could've gotten it the first time I came across it. Also it teaches you a really tricky technique which is interesting but maybe not necessary for anything. Super fun though.

The 5 cat item was actually the last item I found. Just could not find those codes.

The item was fine, but I felt like it was a little limited in terms of applications.

I didn't end up bothering with those since I'd only found five naturally and would've definitely had to use a guide to get the rest, which sorta defeats the purpose.

I just beat the main game. I thought it was below average compared to similar games. Zero lore or story, repetitive puzzles, and short. I dont plan on doing any post game.

Uhhhh.... I'm kinda stuck and I really need help. I don't want to say I'm softlocked, because there seems to often be some sort of hidden wall or trick, but I can't find a way out of this situation.

I'm trapped in this area of the map, on the bottom left. I rode a bubble down here and saved and can't progress further or go back the way I came:

I made it to the top of this room using the bubble wand, but can't go any further. The penguin destroys the spikes on the top level, but not on the level below it, and I can't figure a way to move it. Also, simply getting here seems to trap me, because there are spikes below this room that block my escape. The only way to leave this area is to die and respawn:

Yeah kinda surprised you got there without anything else.

You can do repeated bubble jumps (creating a new bubble at almost the same time as you jump off).

It's tricky in terms of timing but I think that's your only real option.

I found bubble jumping to be pretty simple (though hitting walls can be a pain). You have to hit the bubble button right after you jump while you're on the way up, that way you'll be able to continually rise.

I jumped into the hole and flipped it myself. It took a few tries.

In retrospect, I'm beginning to think my initial opinion on this game's surprising difficulty level might be influenced by me somehow going the wrong way.

oh is that called bubble jumping

the hard part for me isnt the getting-on, its the jumping-off before I lose too much height

or are you saying you can jump from your own bubble to another of your own bubble infinitely

Yes, you can do that. I'm... kinda surprised people don't. I assumed that was the whole purpose of the Wand when I got it, and was doing it within seconds. <_<

(I'm very bad at the game in other ways though)

Yeah if you press A and X simultaneously along with forward on the stick, then release all at the same time, you will 100% reliably jump and create a higher bubble and then land on it. You can mindlessly climb infinitely with enough space that way.

If you press X a few frames later you can climb 3x faster, but it's riskier. The vast majority of climbs are doable with 2 or 3 easy bubble jumps though.
