I don't listen to this soundtrack nearly enough, this song is great. Rap generally works for me if it has a great instrumental, and here it definitely does.

Rage - 7
It's fine, maybe the lyrics would carry if it was English (this is very much a me thing I know)

Moeity Theme - 6
Eh it's not the type of ambient music I particularly care for, kinda nothing song but at least it's pleasant

Wild Woods - 8
Never been a favorite MK8 song, but it's quite nice. Soundtrack has better tho (Dolphin Shoals, Mount Wario, Bowser's Castle, Cloudtop Cruise all come to mind)

I've liked Shredder's Revenge stuff before but this doesn't land for me. The rap's just kind of corny and not particularly good. I'm all for the idea of a cheesy rap anthem but I dunno, I just didn't have fun with this one. 4/10

Rage is a much less aggressive song than I was expecting. Typical soaring Japanese ballad. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing to say about it. 6/10

Moiety Theme doesn't stand out to me at all - I don't mean this in a mean way but it's one of those tracks where I don't really get why it's here. Not unpleasant, just nondescript. 5.5/10

Wild Woods is kind of hilarious - the pan flute and violin is really giving jrpg vibes, almost like something that'd be in PMD or something. Same for this tricky little clarinet melody. This is absolutely my shit. Very clever composition. 8.5/10

I played Paradise Killer. Not a very good game. I never once heard this absolute banger in the game - is it DLC? I have no idea! Would have been a lot better if I had heard it. It's cheesy but in the right ways. Absolute bop with a killer chorus, been stuck in my head all week. I can't understand half the lyrics for the LIFE of me, despite the fact that the vocals are really clear and crisp, but it's fine. (When love isn't love we'll be pawned off? what the FUCK are they saying?) Anyway yeah killer song that I never heard in this stupid game. 9/10

The fact that you can hear the breaths and pressing of keys in Round is nice - a lot of vgm sounds very synthetic so it's nice to have something that sounds a bit more naturalistic. Very strange little melody hook but it's a rather nice tune. 7/10

I like the rap but I don't vibe much with the instrumental, it's fine I guess, definitely not as good as Panic in the Sky. Rage is pretty good, I really dig this part at the bridge! I like the vocals and the instrumental does some interesting things. Pretty cute. Easy vote.

Riven has a track that starts nicely but I don't think it does enough to hook me before it fades away. A shame cause it's pretty captivating. I guess it's a song more suited for in-game. Ah, Mario Kart 8 DLC, quite a good source of music. Love the tin whistle lead and the song feels magical and inviting. Woods time, albeit I appreciate Moeity for what it is.

About That is very good and danceable, just what I expect of Paradise Killer by now. Everything is very solid, I enjoy it. Round reminds me fondly to Candle Hill from last year, with its gentle and warm tone and that winds lead. The instruments is rich on variety too. That final bit is nice, too. I think it's a vote for FAR, but both songs are great no matter who advances.

Rage is genuinely a pretty fun discovery, but I need the cheese today. Would have probably preferred We Ain't Came to Lose as a rap Shredder's Revenge pick, but this one was cute in all its cheesy glory.

The second match is a bit of a weakness of mine. IDK why you bastards decided to put the ambience up front, and woodsy themes are also a preferred favourite of mine.

Mutants over Broadway is so much fun. Moiety is great too; I really enjoy a lot of the more ambient picks this year. Round is nice and sprightly indie game music, which I'm not always in the mood for but I definitely am today. Somebody described it as "warm" which I think is a great descriptor.

I have very clear preferences today so I'll be sad if any of them go down.

Mutants over Broadway: Should've gone for the song with Wu-Tang Clan members from this soundtrack instead (We Ain't Came to Lose). This one's fine, but it doesn't really do anything to grab me.

Rage: Oh, there are some interesting chords in this one. Some strong string-writing and vocals too. Great song.

Moiety Theme: Nice atmospheric theme. The reverb-heavy marimba is pretty cool. Good song.

Wild Woods: The usage of both oboe and tin whistle is very much appreciated. One of the better MK8 songs.

About That...: One of the weaker Paradise Killer songs for me, it's still a fun time though. The big synths in the background are pretty nice. Decent song.

Round: I love how "alive" this soundtrack sounds with the intimate recordings including every detail with the breathing, the piano pedal changes, the key strokes on the woodwind instruments, and more. I absolutely love how Round builds up. Truly a gorgeous song from one of my favorite 2022 soundtracks.

A bit of a mixed day, but mostly a positive day.

There's not much variation in MoB, but it's an enjoyable core riff with fine vocals. Rage feels like it's building to a climax that never comes. It's exciting for the first few seconds and goes nowhere, unfortunately. The singer isn't that good either.

Moiety has a bit of a chill feel, but it's a passionate song too. I enjoy its low-key nature. Wild Woods is more fun, but maybe not as good. I dunno if I really care for any of the MK8 songs in the contest.

Pretty similar style to Stay Forever in About That. It's a good style that's not overused, so I can't complain. Round's kinda boring with nothing going on.

Not much to say here, except that if you listen to Rage and don't think "wow this is a dowolf song" I am very confused but also this was everyone's reaction to it in the pre-nom guessing game so I don't think I'mma be very confused!

Wild Woods is almost a dowolf song, but it's really a nintendo song and lacks the kind of depth I'm usually looking for out of my Celtic-inspired world music.
