I've done this style of poll contest once before, back in either Gen VII or Gen VIII, so why not try it again now? The rules are simple: each day, I'm going to post a poll for a given Pokemon typing, with each generation's roster of new Pokemon filling in that typing. You just need to look at what each generation had to offer, and select which generation you think brought the best new roster (for any reason; you could say that a single Pokemon was so good that it overwhelms everything else the generation spawned, or you could select a generation that may be more well-rounded that the one that created your personal favorite). At the end of the day, one generation will be crowned a champion (with potential tiebreakers if need be), and that generation will advance to a second round, where the eighteen winners, and fourteen strongest runner-ups will be sorted into a 32-entrant tournament to crown which generation produced the best overall roster of a single typing.

The tournament has now begun. The discussion topic is here: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/80744044 and the bracket is here: https://www.bracketmaker.com/tlist.cfm?tid=478370

Our final match of the sweet sixteen sees two Gen V rosters going head-to-head. Gen V Bug has had two impressive showings thus far, dominating its preliminary and going on to trounce Gen VIII Normal in round one. Meanwhile, Gen V Ghost has managed to eke out victories over Gen IX Ghost in the preliminary, and then Gen III Steel in round 1. But it's time to see if Gen V Bug is as strong as it seems, or if it's just had especially tough opposition to reach this point. Likewise, has Gen V Ghost faced the stronger field and come out on top to reach the sweet sixteen.

tough call, i'm neutral on the jellicent and golurk lines but like the rest, and i like swadloon, joltik, the crustle and volcarona lines, but am neutral on the rest and the scolipede line and genesect are probably at the bottom of either group for me.
Bump bump.

Definitely Bug. There's a lot of filler, but some good stuff:
  • Leavanny line seems cool; I should actually use one someday.
  • Joltik and Galvantula are great
  • Al Gore
  • Kevin Durant
  • Volcarona was the first Pokemon with Fly + Flame Body
  • Dennis

- Vergil, DMC3
Both good spreads overall, but I really, really, like Chandelure and Cofagrigus, so ghost it is.
Oh goodness, everything I love is falling over its feet right at the finish line
That girl is poison...
Never trust a big butt and smile :>

This would be the case. My least-favorite generation dominates this contest and the one type from it that I actually do like is getting crushed. -_-
