Woah, Rinne sounds a lot better and more epic on this second listen, however Sakura does as well. This match is stacked, but I'm keeping my vote. Kinda glad this went to a tie, it's truly a clash of the masters.

Tunic is a very nicely done track, the lo-fi esque sound is very pleasant; I'm not sure why I can't feel the melody coming onto me, though. Oh... oh dios mo. Well, being hit straight with my native tongue's lyrics felt very good, but damn, the instrumental of this is absolutely great too and the natural sounds adds positives. This is straight up something you would hear in Latino American radios in the 90s or 2000s. This is awesome, super awesome, what the heck? I don't even mind the weird pronounciation, everything makes sense. I'm obsessed. Easy match. So easy. Jeebus...

Okay, back to reality. Hm, this is a weird song. It zig zags between a hard-hitting build up and a more calmer and mysterious vibe, and I'm not sure if it's in a way I could get hooked onto. I will give it credit though, because it keeps me listening, it's interesting alright. Ohh, Softbank is pretty exciting. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it makes me excited for the future. It's kinda shmup coded. Whatever the right synopsis is, I like it. Tough decision! Uhhh.. yeah, let's follow the curiosity, I'm tempted by these loud sounds.

Great music today! I've been deliberating on the second match for too long... The former impacts me a bit more, but the latter is "cooler". I could very well flip. Gaaaahhhhh, why does match three have to be hard, too? I love how dark and ambiguous Tower of Memories is (seriously good transition near the start), but some of those chord changes and 16th note patterns go HARD in Softbank.... (guess it should be called Hardbank) It has everything I look for in Aurora Memoria music. But now listening again to Tower of Memories... wow, I'm slow. Just now I am noticing the cool rhythmic interactions at 1:59. But Softbank makes me SO happy...

sometimes, the bit just isn't worth it. this corner is too good...
these weren't the hardest decisions thus far but that makes it all the more unfortunate, since i know i'd have very likely voted tunic and am in a LOT of other places on the bracket...
also am passing on the tiebreaker since it was pretty close for me the first time around

Memories of Memories is the theme to the main overworld area of Tunic and even though it's only been a year since I played it, it evokes a strange, warm feeling of nostalgia for me. It's a lovely little tune that I'm quite fond of but I do have a complaint - I find that hi-hat a bit annoying and I think it's just too basic for this theme. It's repetitive and it just sticks out like a sore thumb and I wish it was something else. 7/10

Oh, a Yoko Shimomura song, huh? Somnia Memorias is, I dunno, fine. Very Metal Gear Solid chic. 6/10

Tower of Memories is a cool discovery. I took it over Memories of Memories because this one's got some actually creative percussion choices - greatly appreciated. Very much falls into what I call 'Japanese post-millennial future-electronica' ala PSO and yeah that is the kind of shit I'm into. 8/10

Softbank gives me Kirby 64 vibes, for some reason. These are good vibes to receive. It's a touch on the erratic side and I don't think I'll remember it after I listen to it, but it's solid. 7/10

Tiebreaker match is pretty close, but I still have to give the edge to b10 for its unique atmosphere.

Memories of Memories: This is one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite 2022 soundtracks. Gorgeous soundscape. One of those songs you can just immerse yourself in. Really great song.

Somnia Memorias: Very pleasant song. The Spanish and Latin mix is pretty interesting in the lyrics. Good vocalist, and the rainforest effects and percussion are pretty cool. Solid song by Shimomura.

Tower of Memories: This isn't one of my favorite HBR songs, but it's got some cool synths. Not much else to say on it.

Softbank: Another song with neat synths that doesn't really stand out much other than that.

Match 2 is by far the strongest of the day.

Always thought the OST was one of the best parts of Tunic. This isn't my favorite track, but it's a gooder for sure. Somnia does nothing for me. Do not like the singing.

For Tower, I love the part of the chorus with the kind of droning instrument. The rest of the song isn't that exciting to me, but that droning section rocks. Softbank's a lot more generic than I expect from Aurora Memoria. It's fine though.

I wrote enough about Tunic last year. My opinion hasn't changed. I'm not the biggest fan of french melodies either, but it still has a cool ethereal quality that does appeal to me.

TOWER OF MEMORIES featuring BYAKKO <squee>. When they opened up the Tower of Memories last year, I was blown away by this tune. The entirety of the Garden of Memories is a place defined by distortion. Every potential party member is there, with a message that's heavily distorted, and slowly but surely over the course of the game's duration we've been making those messages less distorted. But for the most part, it's a place where you can watch what are basically interludes featuring each of the characters. And fight some endgame challenges. I digress. The point is this entire realm makes no sense. Some of the interludes are explicitly canon -- as in, they're referenced in events and/or the MSQ. Others are explicitly impossible -- one interlude for one character unambiguously has us talking to her after her death. Also we're followed around by a talking cat who sometimes wears a crown. Not to be confused with Byakko, who is the giant white tiger and who can understand human speech but cannot talk herself. God there's so much I'm hungry to learn about this 'verse. I digress even more. The Tower of Memories is one of those lategame challenge / strengthening areas -- it doesn't have any real story behind it -- but this song is the perfect way to transition from weird semi-creepy afterlife interlude hub thing to strange battles against distortions of your party thing. I dunno if any of that context is actually useful but you get it anyways HAH.

softbank is fine I guess. That quote looks like a horrible translation but it's a UF8 game so maybe it's on purpose. You never really know with UF8. But it never crosses that line over to stupendous for me. Just a pleasant jaunt into a database, this.

clearly this tie was caused by my failing to translate lyrics. Time to correct that mistake!
