In a rush, I'll be brief.

Alternate Root doesn't make me feel one way or the other. Doesn't trigger the same nostalgia for me that it probably does for others. 5.5/10

Nocturnal 2097 is cool enough but I was kinda disappointed that it was rhythm game music. Just feels like it'd be cooler if it was actually the theme to something. 7/10

I can't get over the mismatch between Obstructor's art and its music. This sounds like some Zero Escape shit. It's good. 7.5/10

Badlands is fine. 6/10

This french-named thing is extremely weird and it took like a minute for me to even see where it was going but it got there, eventually. 6.5/10

I have no opinion on the last thing. I already don't remember it. 5/10

Runescape has a really great soundfont imo, which is enough to basically guarantee any song from the game is at least pretty decent. This one also backs it up with a neat menacing aura and nice chime percussion. Nocturnal 2097 is a cool song, which despite the fact that it's a percussion-heavy rhythm game song actually has a pretty pleasant vibe overall. A very fun song, and the climax with the electric guitar is great and feels justified. Close match.

Not a big fan of Obstructor, largely because the timbre of the bass-drum like part is a bit too abrasive for me. The rest of the song is better, but the chaotic composition doesn't really offer much to latch onto, which would sometimes work fine but not when there's already a specific sound I actively dislike. Badlands is actually an interesting song to have next because it's a pretty clean example of this style working much better for me. The low parts provide a much better foundation to the song, and the individual sounds are all more pleasing to the ear.

Suba Hibi usually doesn't fail to be interesting, at least. This is probably a bit too electronic and warbly for me, but it's a neat song nonetheless. Not a huge fan of the bass percussion in the Espgaluda song, but the higher parts are very cool for the most part.

Alt. Root is super nice, feels like a track straight out of JRPG but with a western flavor. It builds itself together quite nicely for a epic quest feeling. I can't say I'd expect this much out of Runescape based on what I've listened, but a job well done because I enjoyed it. Ohhh, hardcore synthwave, hello. The first section is amazing, the second loses me a bit though. The third section gets back it with the guitar solos. Yeah, this is very good. Pretty tough match here. Hmm... I'm going Root, but it's very close. Both are superb at its own right.

Obstructor is a cool song, made straight out of this menacing techno design kinda beat. However, I do feel it could be longer to get me going. Badlands is fantastic, the upbeat stuff is exciting to get along and the samples are thematical. The more relaxed shmup-classic parts also work quite nicely. Sadly, it's an easy vote, Badlands is that good.

Enfants is super entertaining. The chip lead is cool and the beat is super fun, the instruments getting added from the 0:20 mark too. This song is just very quirky but with a taste of enchanting synths. Also that one three-note repeating chord that reminds me of Snow Halation helps matters. Really love it. Desert is veryy good too. Obvious Namiki banger, my favorite part is the piano lead, but it feels everything keeps the excitement going. This is the hardest match so far... I'm picking Enfants out of the surprise, but I don't know, can I complain if Espgaluda wins? It's Espgaluda.

Toughest day so far, wow.

Some nice ambiance from Runescape, though it really takes until around 2:10 for that old-school mysterious vibe to come in with the crystal synth's help. I definitely wish the whole song sounded like that.

I've listened to a handful of Dirty Androids at this point (Seaside Labyrinth and Midnight Lady being my current top two favorites), and Nocturnal ends up sounding so far away from what I picture DA's usual style to be. I kinda like it, but that first half just feels like a whole bunch of buildup to me. There's a couple of cool moments I can point out: the quiet, slow breakdown around the 2:00 mark and when the electric guitar kicks in around 3:25. Really, the whole second half of the song is much more appealing to me than the first half that feels like it's just keeping me waiting for the next part to come in.

Obstructor is an interesting piece, there's a nice string synth amidst the chaotic machine sounds that I really like, though I do wish it did more with what it has.

Yay, more Einhander! The tempo for this one is perfect, and there's plenty of changeups here so that not one part drags out at all. Really good synth work on here too, this one is definitely up there for best Einhander song.

Les Enfants du Paradis is a cute pick, it definitely feels like a puzzle game song with how bubbly it sounds. I really like how quirky it sounds too, like you're playing as some weirdly designed character in a Puyo Puyo-like game or something.

I've always liked this Espagaluda song, this one has some really nice spacey synths I'm down for. Though for some reason, the song blends together in my head in a couple of spots and it feels off to me as a result.
