(8) Archer: 17
(13) Puella Magi Madoka Magica: 17

(2) Animaniacs: 27
(6) Aqua Teen Hunger Force: 10

(1) The Simpsons: 27
(4) Gargoyles: 13

(3) Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood: 21
(2) Samurai Jack: 20

Archer and Madoka Magica slugged it out for the right to be a massive underdog against Animaniacs in the Sweet Sixteen, and they'll slug it out another day, as their match ended in a draw. Gargoyles managed to make it respectable against The Simpsons, but The Simpsons moved on and will face FMA: Brotherhood, which won its second straight match by a single vote. Also, for the second straight year, Samurai Jack was eliminated in a single vote heartbreaker.

(1) Gravity Falls: 20
(5) Neon Genesis Evangelion: 15

(3) Death Note: 25
(2) BoJack Horseman: 12

(1) Over The Garden Wall: 20
(12) Star Wars: The Clone Wars: 12

(7) The Powerpuff Girls (1998): 26
(6) Steven Universe: 12

Archer: 17
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: 17

Well! Death Note, Over The Garden Wall, and The Powerpuff Girls all looked to be locked into close matches with their opponents, but pulled away in the latter hours of their matches and won comfortably. The Powerpuff Girls looked especially impressive, and is having its best tournament ever, while Death Note has now won its tenth straight tournament match heading into a battle with Gravity Falls, which beat Evangelion by a similar margin to last year's quarterfinal. And we've got a DOUBLE overtime after Archer and Madoka Magica once again battled it out to a 17-17 tie! Will today settle the score, or will we get a best-to-5 sudden death match tomorrow?

Bojack deserved better than that, geez
You were the cancer, that's all you'll ever be
I really messed up this contest, but azuarc gave it a Breath of fresh air
I thought Bojack had momentum going into this one, but Death Note is just that strong.

Steven Universe getting pasted like it did surprised me. I knew it was the underdog against Powerpuff Girls but I thought both of them were solid midcarders, guess Steven is still a lower midcard show, or at least a low mid-midcard show.

Evangelion may not be the best animated series per the votes, but it will always be the best animated series in my heart.
What says dunnock, drush, or dove? "Love me tender, tender love."

Death Note is a juggernaut but Bojack did deserve better.
I'll get back up for good this time and I ain't comin' down...
(5) Teen Titans: 30
(1) South Park: 16

(2) Futurama: 27
(3) X-Men '97: 15

(1) Batman: The Animated Series: 30
(4) DuckTales (1980s): 14

(3) Looney Tunes: 31
(10) Invincible: 12

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: 18
Archer: 16

Teen Titans gave South Park the business, while Batman and Looney Tunes easily stomped their outmatched opponents. X-Men '97 kept up with Futurama for a while, but there's a reason Futurama has one of the best records in contest history. And look, Madoka Magica finally got past Archer, eliminating the need for a sudden death tiebreaker!

The original TT was a little overrated but about 7m times better than that Go! mess.
I'll get back up for good this time and I ain't comin' down...
Definitely people getting fatigued of seeing the same shows dominating year after year and seizing a winnable opportunity to take out a heavy hitter. There's no other explanation for South Park being virtually tied with Homestar Runner in the x-stats.
darkx
Nah I'd vote Teen Titans over South Park generally, especially with what South Park has become
You were the cancer, that's all you'll ever be
I really messed up this contest, but azuarc gave it a Breath of fresh air
Homestar Runner in particular feels like a show to not read too much into x-stats--not that this was really the main point.
I didn't do guru this year but azuarc can be in my sig anyways.
South Park used to be extremely strong in this tournament, and still is an upper carder, but has definitely fallen off from its prime (when it made the finals). Teen Titans has been at least a bit stronger than South Park for a while now, and while the margin of victory is surprising, I think this might've just been a bad match-up for South Park in general.

(1) Avatar: The Last Airbender: 22
(3) Cowboy Bebop: 21

(3) Dragon Ball Z: 26
(1) King Of The Hill: 20

What a match! Avatar surges past Cowboy Bebop late, completing a comeback win and also winning against Cowboy Bebop for the third time overall, both of those previous matches were also close battles deep in the tournament. Meanwhile, King Of The Hill had its strongest performance in a contest match ever, but it wasn't enough to beat Dragonball Z, which wins its region and will move on to challenge Avatar.

(2) Animaniacs: 25
(13) Puella Magi Madoka Magica: 14

(1) The Simpsons: 23
(3) Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood: 20

Madoka Magica gave Animaniacs its toughest match to date, but Animaniacs pulled away to win its region in dominating fashion, also making its 6th Elite Eight appearance in seven tournaments. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood came much closer to knocking off The Simpsons, and was ahead by six votes at one point, but The Simpsons proved too strong, and is headed back to the quarterfinals for a showdown with another legendary comedy cartoon.

that was definitely a heartbreaker, Brotherhood having the nice little cushion before everything falling apart at like, 5pm EST. can't help but feel like if it could've gotten past Simpsons it could've beaten Animaniacs too, maybe keep the streak of contest anime winners going. Ah well!

(1) Gravity Falls: 26
(3) Death Note: 20

(7) The Powerpuff Girls (1998): 28
(1) Over The Garden Wall: 16

Death Note rallied furiously in the final hours, but couldn't overcome the massive hole it dug for itself in the first 20 or so votes, and its championship reign ended at the hands of Gravity Falls. Meanwhile, The Powerpuff Girls continued to have its best tournament ever, knocking off #1 seed Over The Garden Wall and heading into the Elite Eight with lots of momentum.

Futurama: 28
Teen Titans: 16

Looney Tunes: 22
Batman: The Animated Series: 19

Futurama pulled away fairly early, and its match with Teen Titans was never really in question. However, Looney Tunes and Batman were much closer, but Looney Tunes ultimately proved the stronger show, and will move on to face Futurama in the quarterfinals.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: 27
Dragon Ball Z: 17

Any thought that DBZ might've gotten an Akira Toriyama death bump was dispelled in this match, as Avatar won rather comfortably and advances to the semifinals.

The Simpsons: 26
Animaniacs: 13

Animaniacs definitely looked like the stronger of the two shows going into this match, but it seems that it was only the relatively weak competition that made Animaniacs look so good, as the tougher road that The Simpsons faced to get to the quarterfinals was the reason for its closer matches. Now, The Simpsons will face Avatar in the semifinals, in a matchup that surprisingly has never happened before in this tournament.

Over the Garden Wall a 1 seed?? It's come so far
azuarc wasn't even home. he was playing Magic the Gathering at his buddy's store, which is extremely easy to verify
Gravity Falls: 20
The Powerpuff Girls: 15

The Powerpuff Girls couldn't overcome the deficit it found itself in after an early Gravity Falls run, and Gravity Falls ended up winning by a fairly close margin.

And with the elimination of The Powerpuff Girls, we're down to five shows remaining and no Cinderella runs left. It's truly the revenge of the blue bloods, with three former champions (and the other two being multi time semifinalists), five former #1 seeds, four former overall #1 seeds, and three current #1 seeds, along with a #2 and a #3. We won't have a truly shocking winner this year, but there's still the chance for a new winner.

Over The Garden Wall has been a #1 seed multiple times, it's just never made it past the sweet 16 before.

Futurama: 25
Looney Tunes: 18

We're going to be running back a semifinal matchup from last year, as Gravity Falls will once again be taking on Futurama! But first, a clash of titans in the first semifinal to see who the winner will be facing...

Avatar: The Last Airbender: 28
The Simpsons: 19

Avatar jumped out to a massive early lead, and while The Simpsons held its own for the rest of the match, it just couldn't make up the 16-4 advantage Avatar had after the first 20 votes. Avatar advances to the finals yet again and will be going for its second championship ever.

I'm suspecting Spitevotes or a Cry for "A Change".
I'll get back up for good this time and I ain't comin' down...
Futurama: 25
Gravity Falls: 24

One of the best matches in tournament history, a back and forth matchup that saw tons of lead changes and ties, but in the end, Futurama wins with a tiebreaking vote in the last half hour. Absolutely incredible match, and sets up an incredible finals showdown.
