Ulti straight up claims his flavor post 1 and acknowledges it saying yes obvious breadcrumb. He's a bloodhound, which is is like the most obvious hunting/scent dog flavor for some investigative role like a tracker you could possibly get. But they're also known for just being gentle giants that make good house pets. He says he'll play along with the lightning rod, but no town tracker or investigative role would want their scan moved against their will by some redirection. Therefore he's not investigative, which means he's just a bluffing vanilla (or blustering scum). Simple maths innit.
This is where you might say, "why would you believe post 1 Ulti about a joke flavor?" To which i say it doesnt matter, because both Ulti telling truth there and Ulti telling lie there both point to Ulti town behavior, hence him getting a town vibe check.
