I want to say Tifa or maybe Red but it is actually Cloud. They perfected him.

I voted Aerith, even if I usually played as Cloud or Tifa since it was faster. Everyone was fun, except for Cait Sith who I just never put in the time to learn.

Hard to beat Cloud or Tifa. Barret is also rock solid most of the time, but pulling off his actions don't feel as satisfying.

Started streaming a 100% Hard mode run of this to celebrate the Rebirthday. Still think this is one of the best games ever made.

Cloud > Yuffie > Tifa > Red > Barret > Aerith > Cait Sith

I don't care enough to play Sephiroth or Zack more to form a solid opinion on them but they feel quite strange.

I controlled Red a lot and Aerith for magic.
And obviously the main man himself.

Other than mandatory fights, I didn't particularly use the others much. Yuffie gotnsome occasuonal use for her spammage of hard mode bosses/simulator fights.

I go back and forth on Barret and Tifa

as of now I lean Tifa

Cloud can be a little slow but mechanically makes sense

Seems like it was a missed opportunity to not allow us to play as these more. I don't even remember how either of them worked. I was hopeful when I heard that challenges would involve them, but IIRC it was really just one challenge and it was super hard and required beating a bunch of hard challenges before it to even unlock.

I suppose it's possible they'll work them into the next game somehow.

Sephiroth has some little quirks that don't get explained iirc - I didn't know about them until I watched the guide to beat the VR trial where you play as him. Like he has a way of building Limit really quickly if you combine dodging with some button, and I'd have never found that out otherwise

Tifa, followed by Yuffie. Yuffie could be first in this category if I was better at controlling her lol

Yuffie. I was so sure they were going to nerf her from Intermission and instead she was even more busted somehow.

After her, Cloud, Tifa and Aerith. I think if I had 20 hours to play as him I would have enjoyed Zack too, but just one set of hard fights isn't enough to learn him properly.
