It's a very clumsy rail shooter. Shocked every time I go back to it just how rough it feels to control, especially compared to Star Fox 64 on the same console. But like, there's such a charm to putting way too many Charmanders on-screen or ruining Jigglypuff's concert with the Poke Flute. Very cute nothing game.

Fun side game

Nostalgia elevates it a ton (I found my old Blockbuster print-out cards recently!) but the game itself is pretty unremarkable going back to it. It's fun and satisfying trying to achieve all the goals but there's not as much there as it initially feels. There are *just* enough secrets to trick a kid into thinking it's a deep game, and once you've seen them all you're pretty much done. Great proof of concept but it took over 20 years before a sequel finally lived up to that potential!
