Ok tribal happened. Very intense with a lot of blame going around as to why they weren't able to step up to the challenge. not fun.

In the end, Fun Fun - No More Tears got the brunt of the blame and was voted off 7-2. Wish it had been recorded.

Thank goodness that not having bugs didn't kill Hated By Life Itself. It lived to surpass my other nom, Luna.

I continue to enjoy Song Sorvivor Soptombor and look forward to whatever the next challenge is.

If you're watching videos now, the Hated By Life Itself video has English subtitles. There are some odd phrases in the translation but I think the meaning gets through and it's a powerful song. Autumn's Geometry just has a picture of an anime girl, no fancy music video for it. Hopefully its ranking doesn't suffer because of that!

I guess I can point you to the STYLE MV:

i originally thought this was one of the songs that would benefit the most from me watching the video because it is a modern KPop vid and those have like a baseline quality/appeal to me but i think the reverse happened for a couple of petty reasons.

1 - it's a school setting. not too surprising considering the tone/subject of the song but i'm so over this aesthetic.

2 - i will never fully forgive SM for that period where they forced popup ads into the music videos for their artists. thanks for literally tainting the artistry and history of your product for your shitty mobile app that nobody gave a fuck about, you soulless ghouls.

the way this is going is pretty similar to my usual music listening/discovery process. usually i'll hear the song first, whether because i'm listening to the album through for the first time or linked. and if it gets me interested enough, i'll throw it into a playlist. a couple more listens later then i might get interested in what the music video looks like, though because not every song has a video, this only applies sometimes. and then eventually, i might get interested to look up lyrics.

bad/nonexistent music videos rarely negatively affect my perception of the song. most of the time, i'll think the video is fine but will never seek it out again. but every so often the MV truly elevates future listens of the song by giving me imagery for my brain to remember while listening or offering new perspective of lyrics, etc.

Yep the Houndstooth channel is the official one for her label and the video was released same day as her single. Out of all her songs I have saved, A Journey is one of the least background-y ones :')

this video was kind of cheating because it's not a music video, it's a lyric video and i wasn't even planning to look at lyrics until tomorrow at the earliest!

but yeah being forced to look at lyrics for this one (predictably) definitely got me appreciating a bit more and i think i might have mentioned that i could see it moving up weeks ago when i started this project. i have no idea about the personal aspects of the song for Hayley Williams (briefly skimming the comments which seem to mention a "Taylor" a lot - who is Taylor? idk and i don't really care tbh) but what i got from the lyrics this first time through was the apprehension and vulnerability about exposing yourself to someone and boy is that relatable.

Taylor York, her fellow bandmate in Paramore that she cited was the main rock in keeping the band from breaking up years ago and they eventually confirmed they were dating in 2022. Her most recent album has lyrics pointing to that they mayyyyy have broken up but seemingly still care for each other? Which is sad because them starting to date was a really sweet story, but she still says she's in a good place right now so who knows.

So she was previously married to Chad Gilbert, the guitarist from New Found Glory. Most of Petals For Armor (the album Crystal Clear is on) is about exorcising the demons from that relationship, as she realized she was very young when she got into that relationship with him (She was 19 and he was 26) and it wasn't healthy, and then he ended up cheating on her after they got married.
