So excited that this is finally out of Early Access. Those who haven't touched it at all yet really have no clue what a crazy sequel they're in for.
Let the voice of love take you higher,
With this gathering power, go beyond even time!
I played about 20 hours of the first EA release last year before any major patches so I'm pretty excited to dive back in starting fresh with all the new stuff.
I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig!

Bought it, but might not be able to play tonight. Never played it in EA, so it'll be completely new to me.

Purchased, but won't have the chance to play it for a bit. Definitely my most anticipated game though - have stayed away from the EA release completely.

All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
Most excited I've been for a game in a hot minute. Though I don't think I'll have much time to play it this weekend, unfortunately.
It's not so impossible!
I actually don't like Hades but maybe I'll try it.

I played quite a lot of EA a few months ago - felt like a very, very good game even with obvious balance/polishing issues. Gonna do a couple runs a day of this for a while. The amount of content looks crazy.
Perhaps the golden rock was inside us all along.

Let's gooooooo!

Done a few runs now and hoping I can complete everything before being spoiled... considering the amount of Hades-related content I've watched on youtube I'm sure the algorithm is going to be feeding new end-game content to me any moment now.

I was replaying o.g. Hades the past week or two and returning to Hades II just reminds me how incredible they've made this game, the amount of content and detail and everything. Just cannot recommend it enough.
The one complaint I had back when I played this during early access was the Strife debuff. The artificial wall for doing too well is still there, and still feels like shit in 1.0. Shame.

Still love the game otherwise.

7 runs in and this is a lot of fun. Died surprisingly little in the first two biomes
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
Downloaded and installed on my laptop!
...Damn, I'm out of town for work and I didn't bring my controller with me.
And maybe they're really magic, who knows.
I played the very first Early Access release and made it to Chronos back then but didnt beat him, and the same for Eris on the surface . I decided I had seen enough of the game at that point to wait for 1.0

resumed my save tonight, immediately beat Chronos on attempt number 1, and on the very next run made it to and defeated Typhon

Tried it, and it runs well even on my humble ThinkPad.

Borrowed a controller from the office and it worked well enough until I unlocked Hex... the R2 button doesn't work lol. Tried playing with mouse + keyboard but it was pretty miserable.

Main game complete, now to see how long the postgame lasts...

She at least gave me a big chunk of resources when I ran into her in zone 3 which is pretty nice.

The real insult came the run after where I got like 80% resource rooms and next to no boons. THAT felt awful to just lose a run because you have no build. I suspect it was rigged but could just be terrible luck I guess?

Mostly I've been nerfing myself by picking whatever weapon has the hunger buff instead of going hard on the sickle. The wands definitely feel a lot better but the default unupgraded staff still just feels like complete garbage to me.

Man it'll take some time for me to get used to all the new subsystems.
And maybe they're really magic, who knows.
The crafting stuff is overwhelming at first but it's mainly a form of progression gating to get you to make different choices every once in a while. Any upgrade that affects resource acquisition should be top priority and then it should be pretty straightforward

I remember how badly this made me rage during early access. It felt so much worse then but I don't know if it actually was worse/happened more frequently. I wonder why it wasn't an issue in the original game, I think in H1 your damage is just so low early on that it functions as its own gating mechanism.

A few weeks back I started a new H2 game to see how quickly I could beat Chronos and it was only on the 6th night I could (while the debuff was in effect), couldn't get it any earlier than that. Managed to do it in H1 on 3rd attempt. Would've been nice if they could've found a different way in H2 to prevent people from winning too quickly but it is what it is, I guess...
I dont have the full picture but Hades 1 also didnt have nearly as much segmented story stuff as 2 and it was still possible to fuck up sequencing. I distinctly remember it taking me forever to get Achilles's quest because I progressed too quickly and he just had too much to say, I think it took until after true ending for it to trigger.

Also the debuff is technically a soft cutoff and it's hard for me to imagine a better way to accomplish that mechanically? It's just done in an annoying way. A hard wall would be worse but would probably not feel as bad.

Unlocked the daggers and made it out of Erebus for the first time, but then died in the first room of the second area. >_>

I really need to figure out how to use a Hex. It feels like there's so much to do. Use my charged attacks (which I haven't gotten used to as well) when close to an enemy, and then spend a certain amount of mana?
And maybe they're really magic, who knows.
You've got the gist but one thing about hexes that isn't immediately clear is that the mana spent resets per room, so if you pick one with a high cost and are playing a build that doesn't do a lot of charge attacks (or runs out of mana) you're screwed.

The sickle for example has really low cost charge attacks and doesnt really spam them unless you're doing silly things with the throwing knife so you need a low cost or something that increases the cost. Can't remember if priming works too

This seems to be making a point about overcomplexity, but it's actually convincing me to get this game since I definitely help Hades 1 was seriously undercomplex. I beat Hades in like 6 runs and then got bored pretty quick, I only beat him 9 more times to get to the story beat, then stopped. It would be nice to have some more complexity to keep you hooked until the story has more time to deliver itself.

he says listen to my story this maybe are last chance
Are Hexes good? I've gotten a few, and none of them seem to be game-changers.
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
let me tell you in EA Hexes were so bad that they kept getting buffed to the point of tolerability, lol.

You'll typically never have a build based on your hex, it's usually a "nice to have" addition to your toolbox. Overall I would say good? If you're not using any magic with your build then worth skipping though, yeah.

What works really depends on your playstyle and what you like, I've done some difficult challenges in EA where Twilight Curse was extremely handy for crowd control. I'm also a big Lunar Ray fan but that really needs more upgrades applied to it vs. Twilight Curse being handy from the start.

Uh not meaning to call out most of the available hexes but I do have to say, I have never gotten the appeal of Night Bloom ever, and maybe I'm missing the boat on something there.
Hexes felt pretty bad in EA and still often don't feel like they do much, but they're deceptively good. Night Bloom summons do a ton of damage when it's upgraded, especially if you have the relevant god blessing. Pretty much every boss in the game has summons and they're usually quite strong as a result of this game's overall increased power level, so it's pretty useful against them. I beat summit boss for the first time out of EA using Night Bloom today, and I actually did more total damage with Night Bloom through the run than with anything else, somehow. That was probably because I had a dreadful twinblade build, but hexes moreso enhance your sheer output as opposed to being something you can build around. I'd also say they're much better against standard enemies than bosses, which is nice because I think standard enemies are a lot harder in this game than in the original Hades, while there's only one boss I find particularly difficult.
