"Soldier on a routine mission" is, I guess, the closest to Resonance of Fate's opening.

DQ3 is Plucky Youth imo. It's about someone coming of age and being told they have to leave home. (As far as I can remember, anyway. It's been like 35 years.) You do have the ability to go back at any time and sleep in your own bed, though, so it's not as clear a fit as something like Secret of Mana.
Only the exceptions can be exceptional.

That's what I ended up going for. The first thing that they tell you to do is collect all the keys, but the main quest is really to defeat Baramos.

Pathfinder:Wrath of the Righteous

Mix of 'hometown destroyed' (except it's not your home, you're just visiting when a demon attacks) and 'capable combatant' (you get drafted to help recovery and end up leading the counterattack because you're competent and keep attracting the attention of powerful beings who can lead you to mythic paths).
The shattered stage is set and there's a role you must fulfil
