The sub-weapon mechanics and aesthetic are obviously being taken from Castlevania (her main weapon is a whip!) and maybe this overlaps with the Bloodborne influence but yes I agree it doesnt play like Castlevania. It plays like if a 2d Zelda game actually had good combat lmao
I'm not sure if anyone played Unsighted but it has very similar vibes to that, where they understand the spirit of 2d Zelda intimately but are very much doing their own thing with it. This is exciting to me! Shovel Knight was described as a mega man clone but it also was taking influence from things like Zelda 2, I'm more than happy to let them cook on this one
Oh alternatively: if you played Tunic, you know how people say that game's combat is kind of porting soulslike mechanics into a 2d Zelda? What if they did it in a way that didnt suck
