She was 9 weeks pregnant and they turned her into a human incubator for 5 months. The reason they had to preform the C section was because her organs were starting to shut down.
In addition to the hospital ignoring her health concerns until she developed blood clots, which is what killed her. Which already is a problem for black maternal health.

In addition, it's keeping her alive and putting the medical bills on her family to pay, but giving them no say.

And maintaining a pregnancy in a body lacking brain activity is definitely not optimal for fetal development.

I really think this is a statement worth examining. You're correct in noting that they have ulterior motives but I think their finger may not necessarily be on the pulse (of anything other than Chris Rufo).

I've been trying to find the right words. Like, obviously, we here can see through the smokescreen.

But it's like when, during the election, I assumed all of Trump's anti-trans commercials were silly and America would see through it, but then we see the exit polling and see that the commercials took hold. Even my best friend's mother fell for the "gender reassignment surgery on kids" propaganda.

So while I can sit here and say that the NYT is dumb, and no one will fall for this. I truly don't know.
I think this is pretty weak for a smoking gun.

I'm black, and if I were in NY, then I'd still vote for Mamdani easily if I had to.

But I think people are being obtuse about the meaning entirely nothing. If it meant nothing, then the NYT wouldn't be publishing this. They're clearly trying to drive a wedge between Mamdani and the black community. They'll probably try to do tactics like this and try to spin him as a "never Kamala" candidate. However, I know that he's been pretty proactive about fighting counter ops against him, like when Cuomo darkened his beard.

I predict that the black community will probably vote along the lines of harm reduction and Mamdani will secure their vote. But I think Mamdani needs to convince them that he can be that candidate. And I feel that online leftists have an issue with lecturing black people about the things they can and cannot find important. And It might be dangerous to just assume he'll get the black vote out of harm reduction if him and camp are not seen as "safe" for black people compared to a "devil we know" candidate like Adams. And this line of thought could stick with the older generations.

So this entire discourse has me nervous since it's ultimately a non-issue, but I think there's room for sabotage to happen. I'm hoping that Cuomo has too much baggage and Eric Adams is seen as untrustworthy since he owes his freedom to Trump.

Yeah. The DNC is really a glorified fundraiser that hosts debates and throws a convention every 4 years. It's not some imperial council

I guess DNC is supposed to equate to "Deep State" in some people's mind. I'm happy Mamdani won though. He's better than Cuomo. If he lost, we'd be hearing how the "DNC rigged it against Mamdani," and how voting doesn't matter. So at least this can move things in a better direction.
100% I'm betting on Trump in this feud

  • America is Xenophobic and will ultimately not let a South African call the shots.
  • Elon is new in our political fabric with the tech-bro MAGA angle. The Evangelical / Heritage Foundation types have been planning this coup for too long to allow Elon or Thiel to take the reins suddenly. The Steve Bannon types want him gone
  • Trump IS MAGA and is an American icon. Elon doesn't control the faction and lacks charisma
  • Elon may have money, but that only goes so far and can be threatened/sabotaged
  • Once again, America is Xenophobic. It makes me think of Marie Antoinette, where one reason why she was hated is that she was foreign. People tend to get their pitchforks for that person first before they really start hating the King. Think of that "if only the fuhrer knew" phrase. Elon has a lot of bad blood because of running DOGE, and Trump can pin all of that on him.
  • Elon calling for Trump's impeachment or calling him a predator is already nothing new for MAGA.
  • Elon may have his lackeys, but a lot of them are minorities themselves. Once again, I will guarantee that they'll use xenophobia against DOGE.
What's gross about this entire situation is that the media is clearly trying to frame this issue as a bigger issue and as a backdrop for 2028.

So they can turn it into a close race both sides type of thing.
"Yes, the Republicans are tearing apart institutions and trampling civil rights, but did you see how they hid Biden's age?"

Like yes we can certainly criticize Biden for his actions and refusal to sit out of the election. But the same folks in the media trashing his mental acuity are eerily quiet about Trump's acuity and continue to sanewash him.

In addition Jake Tapper sure looks sus for wanting to monetize this matter instead of revealing it when the news was made apparent to him. This is him "making the news" than him "reporting the news."

They want to drum up sinophobia because we're in a trade war with China.
Yep, this was stated in Project 2025.
It's wild. This is a middle finger to black people and them trying to provoke a reaction from us. A part of Project 2025 was them anticipating massive protests and implementing martial law. They want massive black protests so they can frame it as riots, scare the suburbs and "crackdown" on us. But a part of me finds it silly that they feel this will get a major rise from us.

While it's a shame to lose the plaza, it wasn't something I felt we were particularly asking for in the first place. We wanted real police reform. So things like getting a BLM plaza or Dems wearing kente clothing was just set dressing. But I understand nuance and that others may feel more attacked on the matter than I do.
bloodyarts posted...
They're already sending out feelers, as Ben Shapiro and Musk want Trump to pardon Derek Chauvin, knowing it will make Black people protest en masse, and then Trump can declare martial law, have the military summarily kill or detain thousands of Black people, ultimately condemning prisoners to free labor and every other Black person under strict new laws akin to Jim Crow.

I think, especially in times like these, that Black people need to be strategic in how we move.

We already know that they'll use excessive force against us. And knowing the Right, they'll probably consider this time around deputize white supremacists to terrorize us if we protest too loud, like in Jim Crow.

This election was proof that other communities can and will throw us under the bus for their proximity to whiteness. We even saw that white lady get dragged out of a town hall while everyone watched and did nothing. What does that say about what they'd do if it's us doing the protesting, if they'll let this happen to a white woman?

Idk, like it feels like clearly there will need to be pushback, and we can't sit on the sidelines. But we have to acknowledge the danger things pose to our community, and if the country will have our back if things go sideways. Our lives aren't replaceable, and it feels like sometimes we're expected to be martyrs because that's what's happened. I do not believe the burden of starting "the revolution" needs to fall on the backs of black people. Wearing blue bracelets and posting black squares won't be enough to show support for us this time around.

Obviously Dems. They're not denying your right to exist like Republicans. Republicans want to wipe Trans people out completely. One is clearly better than the other.

But if you're going to cut off your nose to spite your face and not side with them because of the sports issue, then you're going to keep the people who don't want you to exist in power.

Look at the Palestinian protesters for example. They didn't support Kamala despite her efforts to get a ceasefire, Trump won, and now there probably won't be a Palestine anymore.

Ultimately, the Dems can be persuaded or pressured. Obama started off being against same sex marriage and "changed his opinion" on the matter later on.

Republicans will NEVER be the ally of LGBTQ+ people.

You're talking about a group of people who have voted against their own interests for decades because the politicians robbing them blind have convinced them it's better for them to suffer than it is for a minority to prosper. Or as LBJ so eloquently put it half a century ago...

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." - LBJ

Agreed. We just had an election where people voted for mass deportations and de-naturalization and folks are surprised it involves them and their family. Interracial MAGA couples could 100% be duped into voting away their own marriages.

At the very least force the GOP to challenge things in court and make the SCOTUS either actually give the president unchecked power (unlikely with Biden in charge), or set known boundaries before Trump gets there.

Not that I think it'd have actually helped given how they were acting, but meh.
People are REALLY misunderstanding presidential immunity.

Joe Biden could give out any order and say to arrest MAGA and have no one follow it. Because he staffed himself with people who typically might follow the law

Presidential immunity just prevents him from being prosecuted for giving out an illegal order

The key is to staff yourself with people who wont say no to heinous shit. This is what Trump is doing by firing the federal workforce

Biden would needed to have shuffled his staff around during an election season and hired loyalists who wont say no to him.

Few things here. 1) She's stupid and in general Trump voters are stupid. They give Trump a benefit of the doubt that no other candidates got regardless of party affiliation. 2) Democrats failed to nail Trump on all the crimes committed because of Republicans protection. This helped reinforce IMO that Democrats are falsifying a narrative against Trump. Trump voters ended up thinking all the negative news about Trump were made up by the Dems. 3) This coupled with the weak messaging from Dems in the 2024 cycle fortified Trump's voter base. There are many actual events with hard evidence that showcases how terrible Trump is but they failed to deliver.

Republicans are evil incarnate and Democrats just lets them do whatever they want. When a murderer kills someone while the police just watches and lets it happen, who is at fault?

I don't think we should waive it off as just stupidity. We have to remember first and foremost MAGA is a cult that has embedded itself within Evangelical Christianity.

Christians can sit in church and hear of destruction coming from the Rapture / Armageddon but not believe it will impact them. They can walk around feeling superior or untouchable because they're in the "In" crowd and have this relationship with the almighty.

So this level of delusion can transfer over into politics. When they hear about potential bad shit happening, they feel it's only going to affect non-Christians / non-MAGA followers. It's why when we see so many of these "I didn't think it would happen to me" types of posts, these people lean on their MAGA loyalty for why they should be exempt. It's always "I supported (worshipped) you for 3 election cycles, and I've donated (tithed) to you".

This doesn't absolve them, but we can't deny religion's impact. Especially in immigrant communities, Christianity has a heavy role in some cultures, and it aligns perfectly with MAGA. The religion "rewards" you for uniformity and obedience. We can say people who believe in religion are "stupid" but then does that mean we just handwave them off forever?

Admittedly though, the path forward is unclear because Evangelicals are going nowhere. I'd hope that people start bringing heat to their pastors who told them to vote Trump. But they probably won't.
I think people equate conquering to governing. Yes, theoretically the US can blow up most countries, but that's different than occupying it or governing it

It's why we have so much trouble overseas. If Canada is hostile to us then it wont make occupying easy. Especially with domestic issues at home and a fractured political system, it would be fighting an external war and internal war at the same time.

Like with Russia & Ukraine, defeating Ukraine is one thing, but the hardest task is reassimilating them and removing threats of rebellion once occupied.
As a Californian: Any accelerationist or Jill Stein lackey can fuck right the way off.

People can make these kind of topics all they like. I am not the forum police, and have no desire to be. But it will never change the fact that, in the face of Trumps obvious evil and the dire consequences for the country, millions chose not to vote, voted third party, or voted to enable a death cult. We should have all been united in going with flawed over obvious evil, and those groups (even the ones who claim they voted for Harris after piling on Democrats in the months before the election) made that unity impossible.

Trumps second administration is going to mean very bad things for this country, and the majority of people in it. As that goes on, anger at these ill informed/bad intentioned portions of the electorate that helped Trump slither his way back to the Oval is only going to intensify. I think it is justified. Especially since this was a binary choice, and Trump is so clearly unfit.

We can talk about vote totals or whatever until we are blue in the face. It came down to this: We needed to be united to outvote Trump, who is clearly, ridiculously unfit to lead. Anyone who did not help us do that is part of the problem. And, frankly, deserves our scorn.

I compare it sports/war for a more dire example. It's one thing to lose a battle, especially to an enemy who fights underhanded. But it's another thing to have your own team strategically sabotage efforts at unity and you get your but handed to you.

Ultimately MAGA isn't on our team or who we'd be having a post-game huddle with. So as a coalition, I think it's expected that fractures are going to occur now because there's a lack of trust or feelings of betrayal.

I'm black and gay, and I've realized I want nothing to do with accelerationists on the left for example. Even though we're "supposed' to be on the same side, I forever know that I have to keep my eyes on them / not trust them.

And I think that's what we all need to address/recognize, how can we rebuild trust amongst the coalition? We can't fully trust former white Republicans to turn away from MAGA. Certain POC groups are willing to throw other POC's under the bus for proximity to whiteness. The Dems will probably want to cater to the center since they're more reliable voters but then the left will hate it. Jill Stein will also rear her head up again like she did in 2016 and 2020.

Never forget, they've been doing this as far back as the 1970's.

Trudeau is not going to back down.

This is an election year in Canada. An election *must* be called before the fall (and will likely happen sooner, once the Liberals pick their new party leader; they're in the minority, which means that the opposition parties can choose to force an election via a vote of no confidence whenever they like, something that is typically done if the polls show the opposition parties will gain seats and/or governing status) and this trade war has united Canada more or less across the political spectrum. Even many staunch conservatives are furious at the US for what is generally being perceived as an unjust and unprompted betrayal.

If Trudeau is seen to be capitulating to Trump's demands, the opposition will drop the writ immediately and the Liberals will be absolutely slaughtered at the polls (and they will deserve every bit of it). For that reason, Trudeau basically has no pathway but forward. If he can negotiate something with Trump that doesn't look like accession to US demands, he'll go for it, but you're not going to see him surrender over this.

This honestly could help hand Trudeau the election, right? Being seen as a "wartime" leader in times of distress.

Okay might get some hate for this.... maybe even modded, but fuck it.

The truth is people come to America from all over the world... to be able to be racist against black people.

Okay, okay, that's an exaggeration. What I really mean is people come here to be treated like WHITE people, no one comes here thinking they'll be treated like Black people.

And when they get here and OCCASIONALLY they get a fraction of the racism Black people get all the time they go "Wait? What? Why are you treating ME this way?"

White (racist) only side with Latinos and Asians in their fight to keep Black People down, once they're done attacking us, they move on to y'all.

I think our various starting points in the country have a role too.

Black people have been here since our founding. Black families have plenty of trauma and stories to share about what this country has done to us. So things like justice, equity, and civil rights will always be at the forefront to us. We have martyrs in our community who died for our civil rights here, and some of our family is still alive from Jim Crow

But some of the waves of immigrants, especially after the Civil Rights movement, don't have the same fear of the government. They're coming here because America is the land of opportunity and they rights enshrined to them (built off the back of the Civil Rights movement). So for a lot, their goal is simply economic and to build a better life. They can have a personal connection to how bad it gets in their country, but that same fear isn't here in America.

So while Black people can scream from the rooftops that our rights are being eroded, rights our ancestors fought for, it's falling on deaf ears to people who feel the government is worse in their home country and all they want is to make a living or maybe make in-roads with the "wealthy" class.

So it honestly seems like we have to make better grounds unifying around economic concerns. Unfortunately, many have bought themselves into Republican propaganda that they're the party of "more money" and Trump is a "good businessman". I found the election disappointing and that so many minorities take their civil rights for granted. But if we truly want to be an effective coalition, we have to find the most unifying issue, and that is probably the economy. Unless our civil rights get eroded enough that everyone starts to coalesce.

EDIT: I do acknowledge that many minorities have ties here pre-Civil Rights movement. Various ethnic groups such as the Chinese, Japanese, Mexicans, Italians, etc have been here for over a century. But we definitely had a boom in immigration post 1970's.
Religion also plays a huge factor. Christianity is hierarchical and sets a moral system to decide who's good / evil. It also expects you to conform.
I understand how the principled response is to always have empathy for people, especially when bad stuff happens to them. But we have to acknowledge a few factors:

-MAGA is not a new political movement. So there's a level of "people should know better"
-Trump ran one of the most racist and misogynistic campaigns I've seen in modern American history
-MAGA followers tend to be some of the loudest and boorish people in the room. They have no shred of humility or empathy.
-Their votes are directly harming a lot of us and they're HAPPY the harm is coming our way.

So it takes a very big person to feel empathy for folks who maliciously want to harm some of us, and should know better, and who brag about their political choices.

And I don't know how we reconcile this.

These next 4 years are going to be taxing on all of us. I'm black and gay, so I feel threatened on two sides of my identity. Emotionally this is taxing. And it's taxing to feel empathy for other victims of this administration who didn't ask for this, and I WILL feel empathy for them. But for those who DID ask for this??? I genuinely can't make myself feel anything for them.

Is this actually a thing? Being part of "the black community" I don't think I've ever heard someone say Mexicans need to go back to Mexico. I've heard my share of ignorant things, but this isn't one of them.

This isn't to say it never happens, but I haven't experienced it.
I'm black. I've heard that only be used in reference to MAGA Latinos. It's being used in a "I told you so" or a "get ready for the consequences of voting MAGA" type of way. Since being warned, "hey this guy who hates Latinos, doesn't just hate the "illegal" ones, he'll go after the ones who went through legal asylum channels" fell on deaf ears. And since this administration is also heavily anti-black, them supporting Trump not only harms them but us.

Considering how 78% and 92% voting trends for black people last election, many are feeling backstabbed by other minorities since they should know better, not that it gives white people a pass. But many online are using that frustration to be petty.

I get the frustration but at some point we cant lose our empathy for the innocent Latino populations who will be swept up in this too. End of the day, many of these people are who we'll need to come together within 2 years to start getting out of this hellhole.

And the DNC chair was Jaime Harrison. The secretary of defense was also a black man.

The party by no means is perfect but to claim it emasculates black men even when it puts them in various levers of power(that actually matter) and leadership direction over the entire DNC, she is wrong. Some leftists truly have no plan and are willing to put their minority coalition members in complete harm's way. I came across someone online who said before the election that Trump's winning could lead to a revolution and the overthrow of the capitalist system. This.

There will be plenty of Trump to go around these next 4 years. And losing this election was a blow. There was a remarkable amount of anti-blackness in the country and even in the coalition. Getting over the loss wont be instant.

Trump plans to use the armed forces to disrupt protests and loves the idea of giving police immunity and letting them unleash brutality. Black people are at some of the most risk of brutality when protesting. Especially when he starts his term, he'll probably be brutal.

Taking a step back and surveying the upcoming landscape is warranted for our community. Black people did our part this election. And THIS is the future black people wanted to avoid, but here we are.

Black women aren't going away forever. But this Trump victory has now made it apparent that we may need to focus on ourselves a bit more to survive the next four years.
