Squall is faster at baseline, and even more faster Hasted and even even more more faster with Slow in the mix.

Even in close range, Squall with the buff debuff difference is a force in a 1v1. And he has his Limits when the fight comes to that, which are Meltdown assisted.

why is that the question? Squall can easily Double reapply his buffs and keep going in a 1v1.

Also, how does DK deal with Pauline, who can't be hurt, simply being LAUNCHED away Smash Bros style by Squall?

He likes to hit people hard and far, like in the GIF. He my opt to try to KO her before he knows she can't take damage and still send her flying.

I just feel like "DK gets mad and transforms" when getting debuffed is kind of wild. Sure, he gets mad - in slow motion. Now he's mad and slow and in Pain.

Can I get a source on DK just no selling magic that seems a little farfetched.

I think that Double Metldown/debuff will certainly impact him one way or another.

Meltdown is an indirect magic spell in Final Fantasy VIII. The spell reduces an enemy's Vitality and Spirit to 0, effectively removing their defense to both physical and magical attacks, and making them much more vulnerable. It can also be be junctioned to boost stats, and provides the third-greatest boost to Vitality. Despite its effect, Meltdown is not associated with any status effect for status junctions.

How does DK handle magic? Does he have any way to prevent being absolutely peppered by Squall with Debuffs and magic from a distance?

You cite his endgame durability, but how's his durability after Mercs Squall finally has Meltdown available to him?

Meltdown Drops enemy Vitality to zero, amplifying physical damage.
