That's the only thing the second article says about a rape charge.

Unless I'm just misunderstanding and her statement was after this conviction.

but that still wasn't mentioned anywhere in the first two articles

The second article only had the result and didn't have the prior context. Mr_Rian understood that the first was a backstory that elaborated on the case to the recent sentence.
You're the one being weird about dates as if that matters. The statement was from before the conviction. The point is that the courts didn't do full justice for a sexual assault victim which is unfortunately too common even if you don't want to believe it.

the first two sentences of the second article summarizes the entire first article.

and the title is just blatantly misleading because he hasn't been found guilty of rape yet

The second article doesnt mention the victims recollections and the fact that hes being charged for the rape of another child.
The victim herself said that he sexually assaulted her.
https://www.truecrimeavenue.com/2025/09/joshua-hubert-worcester-man-found.html?m=1

At first, Hubert faced only attempted murder charges. But in 2022, the victim came forward with new allegations, that he had raped her that night.
She explained that she was too young at the time to fully understand what had happened, but that a cousin later explained things to her after she confided in them when she was older.
After these new allegations, Hubert was formally indicted on rape charges in 2022, as per Law&Crime.
When the trial finally began in early September 2025, the victim, now 15 years old, bravely took the stand to testify against Hubert.
He denied all the allegations, but the jury found her testimonyand the supporting evidencestrong enough to convict him on the major charges.
However , the jury acquitted him on two counts of aggravated rape of a child, citing a lack of sufficient evidence for those particular charges

I think Ill trust the kidnap and attempted murder victims words of someone whos already being charged with child rape over the courts found insufficient evidence wouldnt you?

https://www.masslive.com/news/2024/07/trial-of-worcester-man-accused-of-raping-throwing-girl-off-bridge-will-be-in-2025.html

The trial for a Worcester man accused of raping and throwing a 7-year-old girl from a bridge above Lake Quinsigamond will begin on April 7, 2025, a Worcester Superior Court judge ordered on Wednesday.

Joshua Hubert, 41, was initially charged in district court with kidnapping, then attempted murder in August 2017. He was held on a cash bail set at $1 million, which later increased to $2 million.

Hubert was indicted by a grand jury in January 2018 on two counts of attempted murder and one each of kidnapping and strangulation. He was held on a $50,000 cash bail following his arraignment on Jan. 29, 2018.

At the time he posted bail but his original trial date was postponed from March to October 2020, though it stayed pending due to the COVID-19 pandemic until Dec. 13, 2023, the Associated Press reported.

That day, Hubert was indicted on two counts of aggravated rape with the victim being a child who was tied, bound or gagged during their rape, and at least a five-year age difference.

In 2017, the 7-year-old girl told detectives her friend Josh threw her off a bridge into a lake on Aug. 27 of that year, prosecutor Courtney Sans previously said in Superior Court.

The girl had been asleep on a chair at her grandparents Forestdale Road home following a cookout at the house earlier that day, when officials said Hubert, whod been at the cookout, took her at around 2:30 a.m.

The man and the girls father were longtime friends until they had a falling out, prosecutors previously said.

He stopped at his home on Bernice Street around 3:15 a.m. and told his girlfriend he was going to the store, police said. He later told his girlfriend to delete all of his accounts with Lastpass.com, an encrypted data storage company, following his arrest.

Hubert pulled over and got in the backseat with the child at some point in the drive, prosecutors said.

Worcester Police Detective Dylan Patient wrote that Hubert used both of his hands to strangle the girl, according to a search warrant affidavit obtained by MassLive in 2018.

He strangled her with two hands, and his arm, then got back in the drivers seat and started driving again, Patient wrote.

When asked if she had tried pushing him away, she stated, I tried that but it didnt work.

One of the two new rape charges filed against Hubert on Dec. 13, 2023, includes the victim being a child who was tied, bound or gagged during their rape. Prosecutors have not yet revealed the evidence behind the new charges.

It was before 4 a.m. when Hubert stopped his car on the Interstate 290 overpass at the Worcester-Shrewsbury line, prosecutors previously said.

He threw the 7-year-old, wrapped in a blanket, over the bridge above Lake Quinsigamond, according to prosecutors, police and court records. The lakes average depth is between 21 and 36 feet, with some areas that are up to 90 feet deep.

The victim stated that she fell for a long time and landed in the waters below, Patient wrote. She stated that she began to swim to a building she could see but the blanket she was carrying was getting very heavy, which made it difficult to swim. She then swam to a house and stated that she was able to stand up in the water.

After she swam the near-100 yards to the shore and made it to the home on Lear Street North, the 7-year-old was swept into a towel and warm clothes by Maeve Geary, the woman who opened the door. She asked the girl what had happened and called the police.

The child was taken to the hospital and told Worcester police about what happened from the previous few hours, while police took note of strangulation marks on her neck.

A witness also texted a friend at 4:15 a.m. when they got home and jokingly said they saw someone throw something off a bridge the witness had been on Interstate 290 earlier that night, and said a Saturn was parked on the overpass in the breakdown lane, police said.

The witness was referring to the bridged part of the highway over Lake Quinsigamond, and told police they saw a man walking around the car before it drove off.

He was also suspended from his job at the Fay School in Southborough in August 2017, where hed worked in the schools technology department as a systems support analyst. School officials said he did not have any contact with children.

https://worcesterda.com/hubert-sentenced-to-28-30-years-in-prison-for-2017-strangulation-kidnapping-and-attempted-murder/

43-year-old Joshua Hubert, of Worcester, was sentenced to prison for kidnapping, strangling and attempting to murder a 7-year-old girl whom he threw off of an I-290 bridge over Lake Quinsigamond on August 27, 2017, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.
On September 18, 2025, Mr. Hubert was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder, one count of strangulation, and one count of kidnapping a child. He was found not guilty of one count of aggravated rape of a child with force, and one count of aggravated rape of a child with a 5-year age difference.
Mr. Hubert was sentenced to serve two 14-15-year prison sentences for the two attempted murder convictions, to run consecutively, and 4-5 years in prison for his strangulation conviction, to run concurrently with one of the attempted murder sentences. He was also sentenced to 4 years of probation on the kidnapping conviction, to run from and after the prison sentences.
On August 26, 2017, Mr. Hubert was at a cookout with members of the victims family. In the early hours of August 27, he kidnapped the victim, strangled her, and threw her off of the bridge over Lake Quinsigamond. The girl survived the fall, swam to shore, and sought help at a nearby home on the Shrewsbury side of the lake. That set off an investigation by Shrewsbury and Worcester Police, as well as the Mass. State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorneys Office.
I would like to thank Assistant District Attorneys Mark McShera and Emily Meyers, and Victim Witness Advocate Maria Deyette, as well as the Shrewsbury and Worcester Police Departments, for their excellent work on this case, Mr. Early said.
Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier said, I respect the Judges decision in sentencing. This is a horrific case, and the Worcester Police Department is hopeful that it will provide closure to the courageous victim and her family.
Shrewsbury Police Chief Kevin Anderson said, Todays sentencing brings a measure of justice for the victim and their family after an unimaginably traumatic event. While no outcome can erase the pain caused, we hope this decision reinforces our communitys commitment to safety and accountability. Our officers remain dedicated to protecting all members of our community and supporting those affected by violent acts.

A group of five Florida men may be spending the rest of their lives behind bars for the drive-by shooting death of a 4-year-old girl.
On Wednesday, Andrew Thompson, 26, James Denson, 28, Jaylin Bedward, 26, Quandarious Hammond, 32, and Zvante Sampson, 34, were found guilty by a jury of their peers in Hillsborough County on counts of murder in the first degree, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and firing a gun into an occupied vehicle.
The incident took the life of 4-year-old Suni Bell and endangered the child's uncle and mother, who were also in the car when a fusillade of bullets was unleashed that fateful day.
"Suni Bell should have just started third grade, laughing, learning, and enjoying all the things she loved," 13th Judicial Circuit State Attorney Suzy Lopez said in a press release. "She lit up every room with her singing in church, her dancing, and her favorite LOL dolls. She was a protective big sister and a daughter who adored her parents."

On Aug. 22, 2021, Suni and her family were driving along Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa. The girl was in the backseat of the silver Infiniti eventually tailed by three other vehicles, gas station surveillance footage showed. When the trio finally caught up, dozens of shots were fired at Suni's family a lone bullet striking and killing the little girl.
Jurors were also shown surveillance footage from other businesses along the route, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Those videos featured the sounds of gunshots and bright flashes from the other cars' windows depicting the onslaught of firearms discharging. In sum, roughly 40 bullet casings were recovered from the scene of the crime.
Investigators never determined which gun fired the fatal bullet or even what kind of bullet was responsible for Suni's death but prosecutors argued those details were ultimately inconsequential.
During the trial, the state alleged shared roles for the five defendants: only Hammond, Thompson and Denson fired their weapons, while Sampson and Bedward simply drove two of the pursuing cars.
Assistant State Attorney John Terry argued the quintet's actions were akin to a "hunt" intended to kill the people inside the pursued Infiniti.
"They knew exactly what they were doing," Terry told the jury, according to a courtroom report by the Times. "They were targeting whoever was in that car, and sadly it happened to be Suni Bell."
During the two-week trial, defense teams did not call a single witness, but they argued there was simply no way to know who squeezed the trigger responsible for the bullet that took the little girl's life. One of the defendant's attorneys brought up the specter of "guilty by association" and implored jurors to reject such an outcome, according to courtroom reports by Tampa-based Fox affiliate WTVT and St. Petersburg-based CBS affiliate WTSP.
"A rational person should question why, under the facts of this case, the prosecution has made a blanket over this courtroom with the word 'they," defense attorney Daniel Fischetti argued.
The state had a counterargument for that line of thought.
"There is no law which indicates you don't have enough defendants," Assistant State Attorney Anna Ismer said. "There were too many shooters. There was too much evidence of ballistics at the scene. You don't get away with murder because you had too many accomplices."
Jurors ultimately sided with the state.
"Nothing can erase this tragedy, but today's verdict ensures that those responsible for this senseless murder will be held accountable," Lopez said on Wednesday. "We are humbled to stand with the family in our pursuit for justice for Suni."
Each defendant is subject to a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Sentencing is slated for Oct. 27.

https://www.engadget.com/big-tech/microsoft-blocks-israels-use-of-its-data-centers-for-mass-surveillance-of-palestinians-170107061.html

Microsoft has ended access to its data centers for a unit of the Israeli military that helped power a massive surveillance operation against Palestinian civilians, according to a report by The Guardian. The company says that the country's spy agency has violated its terms of service. This surveillance system collected millions of phone calls made by Palestinian civilians every day in Gaza and the West Bank. The massive trove of data has been stored via Microsoft's Azure cloud platform, but the company just informed Israel's spy agency that this practice will no longer be acceptable. Microsofts vice-chair and president, Brad Smith, alerted staff of the move in an email, writing that the company had ceased and disabled a set of services to a unit within the Israel ministry of defense." He went to suggest that this included cutting off access to cloud storage and some AI services.

We do not provide technology to facilitate mass surveillance of civilians," he continued. "We have applied this principle in every country around the world, and we have insisted on it repeatedly for more than two decades. Microsoft came to this decision after conducting an external inquiry to review the spy agency's use of its Azure cloud platform. It also comes amid pressure from both employees and investors for the company to examine its relationship with Israel as it relates to the military offensive in Gaza. This reportedly started back in 2021, when Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella allegedly okayed the storage effort personally after meeting with a commander from Israel's elite military surveillance corps, Unit 8200. Nadella reportedly gave the country a customized and segregated area within the Azure platform to store these phone calls, all without knowledge or consent from Palestinians.

While conflict has existed between Israel and Palestinian groups for decades, these platforms were built out a full two years before the the most recent escalation in violence, beginning October 7, 2023. The mantra when building out the project was to record "a million calls an hour." Leaked Microsoft files suggested that the lion's share of this data was being stored in Azure facilities in the Netherlands, but Israel allegedly moved it after Microsoft started its initial investigation. The Guardian has reported that Unit 8200 planned on transferring the data to the Amazon Web Services cloud platform. We have contacted Amazon to ask if it has accepted this gigantic trove of personal data.

In the horrible final moments of her life, one Florida two-year-old girl was asphyxiated in her crib by her mothers severely malnourished 8-foot Burmese Python.
Gypsy the snake tragically killed Shaiunna Hare in 2009 when her Sumter County mother Jaren Hare, 32, secured the snake's cage with only a quilt and failed to feed it enough. Whilst little Shaiunna slept, the six-inch wide snake made its way into her bed, wrapped itself around her neck and tried to eat her .

She got out of the cage and got into the babys crib and strangled her to death. Im going to kill the bitch, Darnell said in a 911 call before fatally stabbing the snake his girlfriend had owned for years.

Hare, was later convicted of aggravated manslaughter and child neglect following the death of her daughter, and was released in 2021 after spending 12 years behind bars.
However, the pair appeared to continue their romance behind bars and said they planned to marry on their release despite remaining under parole until 2026.

Hares live-in boyfriend, Charles Jason Darnell, was also sentenced to 12 years in prison after a jury convicted him of the same criminal charges. He was released in January of 2021, nine months before Jaren, state records show.

During their trial, attorneys representing Hare and Darnell argued the couple never expected the previously tame pet to harm anyone.
Shaiunnas father, Joseph Gilkerson, sued the Florida Department of Children and Families for wrongful death, claiming the agency failed to protect the toddler after a DCF investigator observed the python in the home. Joseph and the department both later reached a confidential settlement.
At the time of sentencing jurors rejected the defense's argument this just a terrible accident with the jury foreperson, who did not want to be identified, offering an insight into how the final verdict was reached.

"Even under the most remote circumstances, it was possible that the child could be injured. And it was their duty to make sure that there was no possibility that a 2-year-old would be bitten or in any way harmed We feel extremely upset about having to make this decision, but we believe it was the correct one," the foreperson told ABC Affiliate WFTV.
After the verdict was read out, Darnell tried to comfort his sobbing girlfriend. During the trial, Assistant State Attorney Pete Magrino showed the jury two photos of Shaianna, one where she was a smiling, happy child and another showing her lifeless body with bite marks on her face.
He pointed at the couple and argued to the jury that "the snake is not at fault in this case. It's a wild animal. The responsibility for the death of that child is those defendants right there."

So Florida has more than neglectful owners of pitbulls to watch out for.
