I am replaying Xenosaga Episode I and I have a routine everytime when I boot up my PS2, it can't read the CD, I wipe the cd with my shirt and put it back in and everything's fine.
....not sure if it actually fixes things or is just a happy accident but we'll see when I move on to Episode II and ideally can finish the trilogy...

i mean literally everyone says "don't read ANYTHING about this game" beforehand so i didn't even know that leaving your home planet was commonly done before the endgame. and i did struggle with not having a map so this is a weird amount of hostility
I almost mentioned it earlier but I think including this, and essentially as part of the tutorial, was an incredible misstep on the game's part. It gives you the impression that the rest of the game controls that way and it just doesn't. Even after fully finishing the game and being 100% comfortable with the controls the RC ship was completely uncontrollable for me. Genuinely what the fuck was anyone thinking with that thing.

It always makes me really sad to hear people talking about not clicking with this game because it really is one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had with a game - or any piece of media, really.
