how exactly does speed walking help?

Oh, in lots of ways, man. It's not a focused burst like running but it can be kept going for longer. The results are slower but better-paced, if you'll pardon the pun.

Walking exercises just about your entire body. The motions in your abdomen are subtle but there. Your muscles will build. It's a great cardiovascular supplement for slow but steady success, and coupled with an ab-crunching routine it really works wonders.

I bike to work and that covers my legs quite nicely

Yeah I got another bike from someone at church after my last one was stolen so I'm riding around a lot too. So my legs are as good as they have ever been.

Upper body and midsection is still squishy.

But still a far cry from where I was 5.5 months ago.

Congrats, man. It's a shame biking doesn't just magically rectify the chest and abdomen, eh? Still, it's a whole hell of a lot better than nothing.

Walking -- specifically speed walking -- now that's when I'm a lean fighting machine. Back when I had a gym membership roughly 60% of my time there was on the treadmill and the stair-climbing whatever-it's-called. And I was built.

BTW if you need some form of motivation, I recommend trying this

http://lifehacker.com/281626/jerry-seinfelds-productivity-secret

I started it today, even though I've been exercising just about every damn day now and my calendar begins as of Sunday...the key is simply to not break the chain.

Should be fun

That's terrific advice. I'm going to get one of those ASAP.

It feels good to exercise JZ. Keep at it.

Oh yeah, it does. I bike to work and that covers my legs quite nicely. I can max a lot of those leg press machines with relative ease.

Just gotta work on the top...

Keep those updates coming. I might not post much, but I am reading. Good luck to you and all that.

My significantly overweight friend told me I have the same build as him a few hours ago, so even though he's way off-base it did manage to get me back to the point where I feel like working out and watching what I eat more blatantly. If it becomes a 'thing', I'll start posting as well.

Damned medium-large frame that I have, though; in all seriousness, my shoulders are nearly those of a professional quarterback's. Basically, I have the kind of frame that hardcore weight-lifters often muse they wish they had, but I waste it by only somewhat paying attention to what I eat and how much cardio I fit into my daily routine. So because of the build I have, I don't put on much visible weight and I just roll with that lately.

Lazy method. If I were smaller, I'd probably look a bit plump by now.

I'm 9.3% right now. 6'0" and 200, though. Big frame. Not like... behemoth-sized or anything, but I wear 36-38 pants with a 9.3 so yeah.

Hm, 5'9" and 173 ain't all that bad. It's down to body size... *glances at your bodyfat index* Well alright, yeah, I guess you could stand to get rid of a little bit.

I was expecting to come in here and see someone huge, tbh. Good luck though!
