A Murray win tomorrow would be considered an upset by the bookmakers, which is the first time I can recall one of the top four seeds in a GS being an underdog against another member of the field for some time.

I was actually really hopeful for Wii U before today. I thought it could add a huge amount to "core" games (like Zelda, Metroid etc.) and Nintendo was focusing on proving that. LOL me.

I really hope there was an element of saving up for next year's E3 from both Sony and MS for their new consoles because neither showed anything really exciting to me. I fear there's not though, and that's just what they're offering from here on. Meh.

Good job, Ubisoft, though! And come on Ninty.

Tenzin (IMO) doesn't seem as persuasive a speaker as Tarrlok, and it's usually easier to argue for tough action than otherwise. The council members could perhaps have been written to be a little more analytical, but I like to think of their behaviour as a satire on most politicians. >.>

That's an awesome theory. I hope it's mostly correct. Explains Tarrlok's motivations well, and why we haven't seen Katara in the flashbacks yet. If it's true, the big question will be whether he gets his bending taken away. Would Korra and Team Avatar even step in to save him after what happened in today's ep? Probably not, which means he's likely to end up on his own against Amon...

On a re-watch (this time with good quality visuals) there were a couple of things I noticed.

- Some of the vistas were gorgeous. Particularly the zoomed out scenes showing the whole city, and those showing the snow falling/lying as Korra travelled to meet Tarlokk. The faded/brown hue that was effective in Ep. 3 was back again during the sequence where Bolin/Mako/Korra. I think the art looks best during those scenes, and it adds a certain

- Some of the music was nice/effective. Particularly the instrumentation when Korra was alone after travelling back from the police commander's unveiling and conveying the desperation right at the end.

- The romantic tension is much better as an undertone that pops up a couple of times each ep (Ikki's "Did you know Korra likes Mako?" and Asami's pointed glare in the mirror stood out here) than when we get Ep. 5's.

- I appreciate the structure now (presuming that Tarlokk doesn't have any connection to Amon here, which may not be true). With Amon manipulating events to make the Equalists appear stronger than they might have been, he's encouraged idiot politicians to over-react and drive more people towards revolution. Instead of "we should all live in harmony" vs. "we need to expunge the city/world of tyrannical benders" it's "we need to control all non-benders" vs. "we need to expunge the city/world of tyrannical benders" with a few marginalised voices trying to find a compromise (and not being able to command much popular support either, I'd expect, as the terrorist threat and the draconian policing polarises opinion). Quite realistic, I think.

- The man in the courtroom sequence (Yakone?) seemed to be attacking the whole courtroom at once despite being handcuffed. Most powerful bender ever? And Tarlokk's "there are a lot of things you don't know about me"... is it meant to imply a connection to those events?

- But hand on a minute - Aang, Sokka and Toph were all present during the trial. Surely Katara must've known what happened and why they were there? It was in a public place, so there's no way she wouldn't have found out, even if Aang didn't tell her. If Aang was injured (or killed?) she'd never forget what happened either. What I'm getting at is - why hasn't Korra asked Katara if she knows about this guy? He doesn't seem easy to forget. Tenzin might also know, but that'd depend on when it happened - Tenzin was 9/10 when Aang defeated Yakone, according to Avatar wiki.

- Or did the attacker do something to prevent people knowing? Next episode is entitled "Out of the Past", so maybe we'll be finding out.

One final comment... the Avatar was bested again. In Ep. 3 Bolin was successfully rescued in a surprise attack, but ever since then the Avatar's foes have been one step ahead. Ep. 4 saw her ambushed on memorial island by Amon and a squad of chi blockers, Ep. 6 was the immaculately planned attack on the stadium, Ep. 7 was the orchestrated trap, where she and the crew only escaped capture by virtue of Asami's switch, Ep. 8 sees Tarlokk flip the tables on her with bloodbending after luring her out by getting her friends imprisoned. It's interesting to note that all of those conflicts were won by the side that best planned in advance how it would go.

Also, when Korra told Tenzin about her visions, and Tenzin instructed her to contact Aang, I figured (and really hoped!) that the 'extremes meeting' would be Aang and Korra (being very different kinds of Avatar and all). That'll have to wait... but perhaps not for long.

Spoilers if you haven't seen When Extremes Meet

Wow. Bloodbending Tarlokk! Korra had already informed about bloodbending by Katara, since her understanding was based on the full moon. I'm really interested in how the next episode goes. This is such a great set up for a two parter, what with the Avatar being kidnapped alone, while the rest of the gang are in jail.

- He's a lefty and an Equalist (I believe I saw him slip an Equalist glaive over his left hand)

Can I ask where you saw this? He didn't seem to like being compared to Amon by Korra. It'd be so much cooler if he was on his own than with the Equalists (but his actions are obviously playing into Amon's hands, one way or another).

Also, I have to say... Tenzin, you idiot. Korra was never going to sleep soundly while her friends where imprisoned. Should have kept a watch.

Enjoyed Goerges vs. Rus third set there. Goerges tried to troll her younger opponent with some gamesmanship (and dismissive body language), trying to get the match stopped overnight for bad light. She repeatedly complained and had a full medical timeout for an "ankle injury". When beaten, she refused to shake her opponent's hand at first, then did so with a broad fake smile, clearly very pissed off.

Nadal 6-1 6-3 6-4 Schwank
