Try nearly the entire native population of the western hemisphere.
You're mistaking conquest for capitalism. How about any and all (eastern) Indians who opposed British exploitation of their natural resources. Same here. What does this have to do with capitalism? It's just conquest, which is not an economic philosophy. How about the millions of African slaves who powered the early industrial revolution and the growth of sugar. They didn't sell themselves into slavery, so again, not a product of capitalism. Other people forced them into slavery. How about the Civil War that was certainly fought over two opposing capitalistic agendas(wage labor vs. slave labor). You do both sides injustice with that statement. It's just so substantively wrong that I'm not sure where to start with this. How about the native populations of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Ok, this one may be right. They wanted Communism, but we didn't want them to have it. But still, this is more about general war/geopolitics than economic theory. How about the victims of the Nagasaki and Hiroshima nuclear attacks. What? This has absolutely nothing to do with capitalism. -- 90s games > 00s games |

Tifa's percentage on Gordon (2010): 61.96% Samus's percentage on Gordon (2008 R3 4-way): 66.16% Vincent's percentage on Gordon (2008 R3 4-way): 63.03% Vincent's percentage on Gordon (2008 R2 4-way): 62.05% Assuming Lavos and Breen don't impact the match, Crono gets 52.39% on Tifa, 51.01%/52.28% on Vincent, and 46.71% on Samus. | red sox 777 10/06/11 5:23:00 PM #25 |
Anyways, I'd say to really think about whether you want a super urban environment before moving to NYC. I hated it, and with NYC, there's much less escape from it than with other cities. The metropolitan area is so large that it's quite difficult to get outside of it if you need to escape. In other cities like Boston, Seattle, or LA, you can go from the city center to relatively thinly populated suburbs in literally 10 minutes on the highway. You cannot do that in New York. Especially if you don't have a car, and you probably won't want one since it'd be excess baggage.

Staten Island actually feels suburban/exurban. It's probably the closest place to NYC with that feel. But geographically it should be part of New Jersey, and it's not easy to get anywhere from there.

You'll have a lot less space than in Tennessee. For the same actual quality of living, you can expect to pay far far more, and in many cases, it may not be possible at all (you simply can't get decent single family homes around NYC without a long long commute).
From cost of living calculators, Manhattan is about 25% more expensive than the other most expensive places to live in America (Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, etc.), though the outer boroughs aren't as bad. -- 90s games > 00s games |

There's bad with the day vote, and then there's bad enough that Crono will go up against you with the ASV. IIRC, Crono's only won the day vote twice in his entire contest career: against super frontloaded Snake in the 2008 final and Magus in 2004.

That's not really the same, because those games were meaningless for the Yankees. But good luck to Cliff Lee- you know, no player is obligated to play for the Yankees even if they offer him absurd amounts of money. You don't have a right to buy players. -- 90s games > 00s games |

There are lots of CT fans who don't like Frog or Magus that much. This is clear from how much stronger Crono is than those two. It's not a slam dunk among fans who are voting based on rivalries, though Frog/Magus should have an advantage there. But they need a large advantage among those voters to win the match.

Hard matches. I'd take Crono/Lavos in all of them of course, but if you're looking for something more objective......
Dante/Vergil vs. Crono/Lavos I think Crono has this pretty safely. Dante/Vergil just aren't that strong, and the rivalry, while good, doesn't feel like it's going to add that many votes. Sora/Riku vs. Crono/Lavos Great day/night swings here, but I'd guess Crono beats Sora by enough that adding in Riku and Lavos isn't enough to swing this one. Maybe before last year, but KH looked really bad. Ryu/Ken vs. Crono/Lavos I'd be very nervous on this one. Ryu/Ken is iconic, and a better rivalry. Ken probably beats Lavos 1v1 too. Probably would lean towards Ryu/Ken if not for fanboyism actually. Red/Blue vs. Crono/Lavos Last year showed Red isn't strong, but this match feels like a proxy for RBY vs. CT, which is not a proxy I want. It might fit The Pokemon Craze vs. The Traditional Majority on Gamefaqs a bit better though, in which case CT is safe. -- 90s games > 00s games |

The nomination system on this one was so spotty that I think it's pretty fair to let vote-ins account for a large part of the field. You were forced to only nominate one rival for a character, which leads to serious disadvantages for characters with multiple possible rivals. Since each character can only appear once, that's a bad system. Knowing that Crono can only appear once, I would have nominated Crono/Magus and Crono/Lavos at least.

It does match remarkably well though:
Crono receives gifts from 3 wise men from a kingdom with strong Persian influences on its design named Melchior, Belthasar, and Gaspar. Crono sacrifices himself and is brought back to life. Crono casts Luminaire, which is basically Holy, but more awesome. He also casts Life. Crono does not have a father on earth. Crono changes the destiny of mankind. Crono has no character flaws. Lavos controls human evolution and advancement. Lavos is the enemy of mankind. Lavos gets Zeal to falsely worship him. etc The biggest difference here is that the Entity/Crono are not omnipotent.
