*******.

It's been at least four hours. It's been at least four freaking hours.

I must have heard Calling to the Night, Professor Layton, Eternal Sunshine Maiden, and Blue Radiance at least a dozen times now. Then suddnely it's the middle of Smiles and Tears or the beginning of Setting Sail and I realize, "Crap! What were those songs? Dammit, now I have no back and listen to them again."

I hope all four lose.

My problem with Season 6, without hopefully going into too much ranting and raving, is twofold:

1) The Flashsideways, while nice and it's great to see all these characters playing redemptive arc again, was just one long, drawn out plot twist that had nothing at all to do with the island plot besides Desmond realizing there was an afterlife and that the island had something to do with it. No ties at all. It negates the timeline speculation of The Incident, plays around with our expectations (which, okay, cool I guess) on how the timelines will have to merge at some point, and is just one long epilogue. Also, did anybody notice the ocean?

2) The main, driving plot on the island. Take out all the sideways distractions. Just remove them. Everything about this plot is so filled with holes, unnecessary red herrings (Ilana, the sword, don't speak to Smokey, Temple, Claire and Sayid, Desmond, Widmore, etc. etc.), the stupidest plots in Lost (Sun hit her head and now she can't speak until she hugs Jin and doesn't get fried by the electric fence; Sayid is alive, but he's also evil, and now he's British, and now he's suddenly repentant cause Desmond's so cool). The only characters I felt had any lasting plot that worked for them were Jack (obviously), Hurley, Ben, Kate, and maybe Sawyer. Maybe Richard, too, while we're at it. And the Man in Black, oddly enough. Everyone else, in a "it's all about the characters" show, got completely shafted.

Well, Lapidus, too, but that's less character development and more Chuck Norris.

tl;dr

1) Sideways plot was just one big, M. Night Shyamalan style twist.
2) Island plot was stupid and full of bad plots.

Oh yeah. Fi. Worst character in Zelda history. The worst. Don't even say Navi is worse. There is an 85% probability Fi is the worst character in Zelda, and Navi doesn't come close to that.

You either love the game or you hate it

The more I think about it, the more I hate it.

This is it for me.

Good controls and combat, best Link and best Zelda, dungeons were good.

Too many little flaws built up though. The game had a lot of questionable decision making made by the developers. They wanted to find a way to increase the journey, to make it longer, and filled it with s*** it didn't need.

Really bogged it down imo. Too many silent realms, too many repeat boss fights, the dungeons were too linear to the point where going back to an older area was boring, too much filler with stuff like that tadnotes, and retrieval of items. Stupid things like text popping up everytime you got an item used for upgrades, among other things. Oh yeah, Fi, she was annoying.

More I think about it, the more it irks me, because it could have been amazing, instead it was just mediocre.

This, in essence. At its core, Skyward Sword is an amazing game. The combat is a lot of fun, and the mini-worlds are quite a blast to explore the first few times. There are a lot of cool side characters, bosses are tons of fun, Groose is the man, and it brings in quite a few things that are new and cool like upgrades and flight.

But there are just tons of stupid things that bog it down.
- Flight controls are the worst.

- Such an empty overworld. Like Twilight Princess, the game hypes you up for those big dark areas you can't explore yet, but when you go there... there's just like one thing to do and it's all useless empty space. Outside of the three ground worlds, what's there to do in the sky? You have the town, you have the inn, and you have a few mini-games spread out far away from the hub, plus random rocks with treasures and heart pieces. Link is all about exploration, and there's nothing to really explore. You just travel to an interesting looking rock that takes five minutes to fly to, see if there's anythign there, then come back later in the game when you've hit the right purple block.

- Again, positive note, underworlds are awesome. It's just sad that the dungeons (outside second desert one) are rather forgettable. And you have do a bunch of **** again in the same underworlds to access the next dungeon. And then a third time to get a key item (**** tadnotes. The mountain was cool, as was desert, but **** tadnotes).

- Combat with the sword was cool. Arrows, too, and bombs had a cool new use. And Beetle is the best new item ever. But what good were the rest of the items outside a few puzzles or progressive movement. Whip doesn't do anything, Clawshots don't do anything, Bug Net does nothing, Gust Bellows does nothing, and Slingshot has its uses but Bow's always better. For regular combat, you have Sword, Bow, and Shield as your only real options most of the time, with Beetle and Bomb for more specialized occasions. It's really uninteresting after a while. Even Twilight Princess had some extra items like the Ball and Chain. Even the original Zelda, where main items you got were a Raft and a Ladder (which would be where Digging Mitts and Fireshield Earrings are today), had a Candle that let you burn things.

- Upgrades were cool, but were somewhat sloppy. Same with medals. Obvious it's Zelda, you can't go broken tier, but there were so few interesting medals in the game and the upgrades were so few that bug collecting and item farming meant nothing after a certain point. Maybe it's because I spent a lot of time making sure I had enough bugs/reagents to have if things got crazy, but it just felt like so much time wasted.

- Minigames sucked.
- Tracking and backtracking sucked.
- All the town side characters not having anything to do after the opening sucked.

Probably more. Haven't played in a while.

Yeah, Samoa was 80% Russell, 10% Shambo, 9% every other player, and 1% Daisy the chicken.

Everyone had endgame alliances with Brett, Monica could care less about Shambo's one-sided feud, and Russell didn't find two of the three idols on his own. Samoa was an editing nightmare.

A jury in the legal system is twelve complete strangers who don't know you beforehand and know nothing about the case until its presented.

This jury is made of people you start out the game on day one with and get to know you first hand before you are ever sitting in that final seat, while they're also going for the final seat themselves.

Totally different system.

If Russell had done anything, anything, to appeal to the jurors at final tribal, I think he might have picked up some votes. You have a final case to make to the jury before they vote. If you make moves and blindsides and handle a jury terribly, you're not going to win. Kim owned the post-merge. Completely owned it. Blindsides everywhere, huge moves, and Ponderosa had some anti-Kim movement. But she handled the jury extremely well, both when she was putting them there and when she answering their questions. He could've won against Shambo. He could've won against John. He could've won against a few other people had they lasted longer in the game (I see him winning against Marisa given certain circumstances, Ben too, and Christina). But he voted out everyone who he could've won against and brought with him too people he had no chance to unless he brought a very, very strong final jury game. He did not. Were they bitter? Most likely. But he made them bitter, and he did it every week. Look at his HvV play where's he just openly a smartass and complete wretch to everyone.

Jury management is key, and has always been key. Russell absolutely failed at that part of the game, the social game. Russell had a chance to plead his case and win them over, but he failed miserably.

*SPOILERS FOR VANUATU AND CHINA*

Look at Todd in China. Going in, as a viewer or as someone at tribal, you know there is absolutely no possible way Jean-Robert is giving Todd a vote to win the million. Todd blindsided him and he's still completely bitter about it. He doesn't want Todd to win that game.

And Todd just complete wins him over. Just says all the right thing sand gets his vote.

How about Chris? He lied to everyone out there and blindsided his way to the final two. But his management of how Twila should act to the jury (unapologetic and completely owning her actions) and management of every single person asking him a question, sometimes contradicting what he said five seconds before, won him the game. A man beating the women in a war of the sexes,

Just playing a scorched earth game means nothing if there's more to it than just getting to the end.

EDIT: "I think he might have picked up some votes."

Should be picked up some more votes because his two big allies voted for him. See? He got two votes from people, not because they respected his game, but because he reached out to them and made some social links with them. He was Shambo's only friend out there (her own doing, Monica still probably doesn't mind crazy Shambo while Shambo's still *****ing about them) and John's a similar 'big moves = awesome fun' even though it completely ruined his own chances at winning. See? The two he made bonds with versus the seven he royally pissed off and burned all bridges with. He handled them well socially. They're also crazy, delusional people who are terrible at the game, but whatever.

Pretty much in terms of players. Thinking about playing Mafia again sometime, but I don't if that's just an idle workweek talking (only 18 hours, all this weekend, but at least seven people leaving box office so I expect 30+ hour weeks soon, plus a new system implemented Monday that I haven't done yet and need to learn during my double on Saturday) or just a desire to get back in the swing of participation. Plus, The Wire Mafia. Can't miss out on that.

Company Man is well-regarded as probably the best episode of Heroes. It really is a fantastic episode and if this were bigger bracket, I could see myself voting for it for a few rounds even though I hate the show. It's also very well-remembered for its comparisons to Lost when Season 3 at the time was flailing about.

However, I am surprised by OMWF's failure to do better there.

To be fair to "Baelor," Buffy and Angel have both gotten a huge bump in popularity recently. I'm following at least four, if not more, watchthrough topics, and there's a Buffy Rewind starting soon though that doesn't much apply here. With the success of Grimm and Whedon's Avengers (As well as Goddard/Whedon's Cabin), Buffy's big right now.

I haven't actually heard much casual chatter over Game of Thrones, but I may be looking in the wrong places. "Baelor" flooded the entire internet last year, but the large gap between seasons (and relatively uneventful second season before Sunday night) might have cost them the nostalgia.

But I wasn't interested in determining which huge 6v6 matchup with 8 stipulations would win. If it were restricted to 3v3 and captains had a bench and just chose 3 of their 7 to go in, it'd be a lot easier to follow, and much more interesting imo.

Pssh. It's the chaotic 16 vs. 22 man matchups that are all the fun! It's boring seeing only a few members of a team go up while everyone on the bench uses abilities that don't make any sense in battle topics except to leaders who knows the benched mercs. Huge teams with a few bright stars to pick out, and a bunch of potential game-changers as arguments go on and more strategies pop up. Even better are the 2 vs. 20 because if it isn't a forfeit, there's a massive and entertainign argument there that WILL sway some votes just for all the balls those two have and the underdog status.

5v5 and even 3v3... if any one member is better, then it's easy pickings.

Why do Mercs and Mafia, two things I'm aware I would be extremely bad at if I ever attempted them again, hold such sway over my heart?

Because you don't always have to be good at something to have fun with it, and you had a lot of fun with those things simply because of the way they were and not because of your skill level?

Very true, but I'm more aware of the Game of Thrones-style level of chess matches higher-ranked teams make with one another than I was then. I have rarely been one to make or discuss dealings outside of the central hub, and I have little interest in holding onto a team that languishes at the bottom as my time to die draws near. It's certain that I would have intense levels of fun in building a team and fighting the good fight, but like Paratroopa in Mercs 3, all that chaos and all those extremely fun matches don't buy wins. Not when you know there are calculating minds looking at you like a pile of infra ripe for plundering and there may or may not be an ever-decreasing amount of chaotic, random chance mercenaries though that may just be my imagination and obsession with the non-existant mid-battle ability. And if I ever did build a solid team and learn how to play such a game, I'd likely tear it down and pull a Lopen: Gatling Gun Amy Rose <3. Though, IIRC, that didn't work out so badly for him.

A win's a win, sure, but without a Fastball Special into Luca Blight and Sephiroth or Geodude fighting off the opponents using Weedle as both a whip and Poison Needle shooting gun (Weedledude the best), or even a clutch "Every time Ganon posts, more water dances" it's just not as fun. And I don't expect those things to net me wins that often.

I have been on a nostalgia-fueled Board 8 binge for over twenty-four hours and I have no way to burn it off. I'm heading out to see some friends off later this evening and cannot be in such a mood, with such a noisy and unnecessary fire in my belly, but I have no idea how to cull the yearning for mad rhetoric. It's a fire that I'd use in the most zany of Mercs matches, the dumbest of Mafia arguments, and the angry bellowing of upgrade enchancements. It's a fire that only grows stronger if there's wood to burn and I realize it would not be good to take part in anything that would continue this urge for chaotic arguments. Something insane, something powerful, something worth arguing for even if that argument is only a measly 3 Infra worth slightly more on the open market than Snailien funbucks. I'm not even sure what this post is about besides trying to let off steam.

I don't think Drak's Merc Journals or the Fettbox are healthy reading. Not when I need to salute General Bub, vote and unvote every player on day one, and look for more Game & Watch questions. Is there a rational solution to this problem aside from letting it burn out? I'm not coming up with something.

Worst Song: The Great Giana Sisters Main Theme

- And everything is going to the beat
And everything is going to the beat
And everything is going to the beat
And everything is going to the beat
And everything is going to

You obtain ***Land Rights to Melonadey Hill***

Land Rights to Melonadey Hill ~ Up on Melonadey Hill, there's a melon tree, just looking out on the day on a melonade sea. Up on Melonadey Hill, sits Mana T, looking out on the day when she's close to thee.

#1. blindhobo13 ~ (1) (14) (28) (75) (86) ~ 40.8
Best Song: Explosive
Worst Song: Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits

- All of your songs, despite their placement, are memorable and awesome. I think you might be the only one the have songs that I can look at right this instant and clearly remember at least ten seconds of it. Even Bunny Rabbits, which I haven't heard since it went up a month ago, rings true in my head. Explosive nabs you the win, but your songs and efforts aren't to be denied.

You obtain ***Infinite Pure Essence of Melonade***.

Infinite Pure Essence of Melonade ~ In short, this will allow you to have the heat of bunny rabbits, the bravery of a lion, the nature of casanova pickup artist, dreams of orca whales, and *ahem* explosive climaxes.

- Wow, this sounds familiar. I thoroughly enjoy this, especially the slightly ethereal high-pitched background singer.
- Wow, I had forgotten all about this song. As soon I heard the first few notes, my eyes lit up.
- Wow, everything is going to the beat. SLEEPYHEAAAAAAAAD
- ****, I really want this at number one. Why does another song have to hit me on a physical level?
- I think this is the only song on the list I've completely rocked out to. I've danced a bit, bobbed my head, sung slong, but nothing quite intesne as when this gets to "SLEEEEEPYHEAAAAAAAAAAD."

WHICH MEANS THE WINNER IS

#1. Song: Explosive
Artist: Bond

- The X-Men theme. The X-Men Theme Song is all I could think about how this song wasn't for the first thirty seconds, but then it trounced it. Absolutely beautiful violin. Always catches me by surprise. At first I'm like, "How can this be one of my favorites? It can't be so high up here just because it sounds a lot like X-Men at first. It's definitely top 20 material, but- oh wow, oh WOW, those violins are incredible. Okay, so it's top five, no doubt. But does it... oooh, this is nice and slow and HELL YES HERE WE GO AGAIN! I LOVE THIS SONG!" It keeps me off-guard with tons of great, bombastic deliveries.

I've been sooooo sorely tempted to put Sleepyhead first because it's so damn good. And every time I listen to this song, it starts out with, "Okay, yeah, Sleepyhead beats this." But there's at least ten different points where that confidence is not only shaken, it's completely shattered. This song just hits me on a visceral, under the skin level so many times I cannot even fathom having a song above it. Like Road to the Faire, the beautiful strings just grab me and hold tight like nothing else does. I almost come to tears when this song is at its best from sheer beauty. 'Sleepyhead' makes me party, 'Explosive' makes me love.

Number one since the beginning, the only song I put into my A+ category of songs on initial listen, and the only song I have not moved once.
