I don't think there's ever been an official information regarding how avatars would be implemented. For what it's worth, you can disable avatars on GameSpot. However, GameFAQs could add a feature to disable avatars regardless of if other boards tend to have it or not.

Last of interest in the feature would be a reason not to bother with adding avatars. As I mentioned before the "GameFAQs Asks" topic does suggest that there actually is some interest in the feature. Other than that, the only reason I can think of to believe avatars may actually see use here if implemented is it's a popular feature on other message boards.

And yes, a lot of people are opposed to avatars because they like the fact that GameFAQs' message boards are simple, streamlined, and look different from your average message board. They don't want GameFAQs to become like every other site.

If people don't want them, they don't want them. And it seems like most people just don't care one way or the other, so there's really no reason for Bacon to do something for the small number of people who do actively and openly seem to want them.

How is this a problem if you can turn off avatars? If you like how things looks now, you can leave avatars off and nothing changes, If they don't care, they should have voted "don't care" in the The Future of GameFAQs Avatar poll instead overwhelmingly for "do not want". If you don't care either way, don't ruin it for those who do and want the feature.

I really think the negatives outweigh the positives in this case. Just the idea of having to review/approve thousands of avatars a day so they don't contain inappropriate content makes the whole process not very attractive for the staff.

That's not really any different from users linking to images on the board or putting a link to an offensive image in their sig.

They had just as much opportunity to know it existed as the overwhelming majority who voted against it. It's not the voters fault that people who might support avatars (WHO HAVE YET TO BE PROVED TO EXIST) didn't turn up. As such, it is perfectly reasonable. Maybe they should vote next time.

Several users sending in a feedback ticket for "GameFAQs Asks" asking for Avatars suggests there are users who do want avatars. We don't know how many that is or why they didn't show up for the Future of GameFAQs Avartar poll, though.

At least with Sony this sort of thing made sense from a greed standpoint since they were (and I suppose are) still theoretically trying to sell PS2s. But as far as I know GCNs are very much no longer in production. How much money could they possibly save by doing this so late in the Wii's lifespan?

If they aren't trying to sell Gamecube games anymore, doesn't it make sense to drop Gamecube support?

For example I wouldn't mind seeing Link in Archery, Equestrian, Fencing and Sailing because he's actually had experience in those sports, but should he make it into Boxing I hope the voters will at least acknowledge that someone like Little Mac would be better.

Link knows how to box, though. He beat Blaino in a boxing match and Blaino is capable of punching you hard enough to throw you out of a dungeon.

A lot of my ratings are a bit messed up. Especially for series I watch long before I got a MAL and hadn't seen in a while when I assigned a rating.

Tsukihime doesn't really feel like it should be a 9. It should be an 8 or maybe a 7. I don't really remember liking it that much but I may have just forgotten why I did like it.

I do remember liking Chaos;head but I don't remember the specific reason. I think it was because I liked a lot of the characters and the plot twists near the end.

I really did enjoy the Umineko anime. I know it has non-trival problems like contridicting red text, referring to events that never actually happened in the anime and making the mystery unsolvable. But, I don't really care much about that. Well, I guess the second point is a problem but I think I just attributed it to not remembering the event properly the first time I watched it and the second time, I think I had already read through the VN so it didn't really matter. Also, if I wanted to make a serious attempt at solving the mystery, I'd just go play the VNs, which I did. I watched the anime before played the VNs so things like the events at the end of each game were really shocking to me even if they were watered down versions of what happened in the VN. Also Tamura Yukari does a great Bernkastel. <_<

Yeah, one console would be great. Then companies could charge as much as they wanted for them, because there would be no competition. That would be great.

Gaming has competition from other sources of entertainment. If they jack up the prices, people go find something else to occupy their time.

You don't even have to explicitly talk about the 3DS. Just ask what their policy is on immediate price drops after purchase and if you have bring in the old item to return and immediately repurchase it. Most stores should be happy to let you keep the one you already have as opposed to forcing you to take a new one. It's not like they want to bother with actually taking the item back just to give you the exact same item and a newer copy at that.

There shouldn't be any risk involved in getting the price drop and the game. You should be able to call the store you are buying the 3DS from to confirm that they allow it so you'll know it works before committing any money. If they don't find a different store.

I think the advantage should be to the people that post a % for every match, I'm basically suggesting that people can post predictions for everything in the current round (not just the current set of matches) but those predictions can only be 50/50. Something like that, anyway

You can already submit your predictions for matches a few days in advance. For the early rounds it's not the entire round since there are so many matches. However, near the end of the contest when there is a shorter period between when you know who will be in a match and the match going up, you can submit a prediction for all known matches.

The first Bleach movie (Memories of Nobody) came out after Bleach episode 107. It's a side story that has nothing to do with what is currently going on in the TV series at that point in time. You could just wait until you finish the 109 episodes before watching the movie. Alternatively you could watch the movie a fair bit before episode 107 but I'm not sure exactly how many episodes you need to see before the movie doesn't spoil events from the TV series.
