updates should resume soon I'm getting the itch back

also I thought of a good deadline for this game: whenever I get Comic Book Hero. I don't think Ryland's given a date for it yet, but the developer's journal has switched to 3 posts a week which is a good sign...that said, I'm pretty broke and don't know when I'll have the money or internet to obtain it. Should make a decent cutoff point in the near but not immediate future though, and once I get CBH it's going to suck up all of my spreadsheet game fervor anyway.

Probably doing a Sheamus diary. If that ends I'll probably go back to TEW or find some way to make CBH more FWA-ish and interactive.

I say no!

It's actually pretty simple basically, you just have to read the cards (isotropic lets you mouseover them) to figure them out and the rest you can pick up in five minutes.

Every turn, you start with one action and one buy, and the cards you drew at the end of your last turn. The action phase is first- you play whatever action cards you have and do what you say. Some of them give you actions or cards back, others do all sorts of stuff. When you've played all the actions you can/want to, you play your treasure to enter the buy phase, where you can buy a card(s) to add to your deck. That's how you make your deck better. The idea is to buy good treasure and actions so that you can get better and better cards, so that eventually you can get those green cards that are worth VP. The game ends when all the Provinces are bought (Colonies also have this effect but they aren't in every game) OR when there are three different types of cards that have been completely bought out. Whoever has the most VP wins- usually all your VP will be from having Estates/Duchies/Provnices in your deck, but sometimes there are other ways to score.

I'd recommend playing a game or two on isotropic to get the hang of things so you aren't COMPLETELY unprepared but you can probably bumble around with just that much. >_> Two basic tips: Don't buy green cards too early, as generally they just waste space in your deck. Most people will spend most of the time improving their deck, THEN rush for the VP cards at the end once they can afford the best ones. Also, keep an eye on your Action count. If you buy a bunch of "terminal" actions (ones that don't have +1 action on the card) then you will only be able to play one a turn, so you don't want to get too many because you'll draw cards you can't play....conversely, if you only buy cards that give you +2 actions and not much else, you're not really going to get much use out of them because the main point is to play more terminals with them.

I almost never buy new games these days anyway, so if a game is good enough to break through "I don't have 60 bucks to spend on this," honestly it has a very good shot of also breaking through "I REALLY don't have 120 bucks to spend on this."
