Umm, how about this? Clouderoth is actually massively "video game that has been made into a movie" rSFFing Pokeman and this should be a 60/40 match in Pokeman's favor so Mario wins. Does that work? :)

3's a trend. We're gonna get nonstop lead changes until the end. Which means that Clouderoth wins in the final update.

Another lead change. This could quickly become epic, especially if Pokeman pull away during the ASV and then Clouderoth roars back during the SNV.

Mario jumping so much in 2005 was due to a site shift and a HUGE Nintendo boost. And Sephiroth still put up 56% on him that year. Mario went from beating Cloud to gettin only 39% on Seph next year. Mario performs very badly against Sephiroth for some reason. He might be better indirectly now, but I would still take Sephiroth over him head-to-head if it came up.

To those saying that Mario is for sure stronger than Sephiroth now, are you just ignoring what happened the last time these two met? That's a long way for Seph to fall, even if it's been 6 years.

It only took Clouderoth 40 minutes to slice off another 100 votes this time. I would expect the lead change at around 11:30 EST.

Over the last 45 minutes Clouderoth has cut off over 100 votes. If this continues through the morning, they should be able to take the lead before the DSV starts.

Leon, I think Bacon knew that and avoided it intentionally. The point of this was to see if Link can lose, period. He doesn't want to risk that by possibly having Mario take out Clouderoth first.

Would anyone complain about the following bracket for the next CB? We have Link removed to face the winner. Then we have either a 64- or 128-character bracket with the other 8 Noble Niners being the #1 seeds. They are set up so the quarterfinals are as follows:
Mario Crono Samus Sephiroth Mega Man Sonic Snake Cloud (Mega Man and Crono could be switched, I guess.) |
Topic | Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 1036 |
TheOneAboveAll 12/15/11 10:58:00 AM #445 |
This is different than a straight-up CB. The whole point of this contest was to see if Cloud and Sephiroth together can beat Link. Regardless of who wins, Link should be removed from the next normal CB (2010 showed that no one can beat him) and face the winner of the bracket. There's no point in having him in a normal bracket. We all know he won't lose. And if he could, he gets to face the tournament champion in a bonus match anyways, so we still get to see that.

rSFF makes perfect sense and probably exist. Whether we've yet to see a match that has been heavily influenced by it is another debate. I would say that Missingo./Yoshi was rSFF, unless you really think Yoshi is worth 43% on Sephiroth or whatever it came out to. (Okay, even after factoring in the bandwagon/rallying we would still get Yoshi being worth 38% on Sephiroth minimum; maybe that's true but I think something else was in play that match-rSFF.)

Link would destroy a vs. Everyone poll. It isn't specific enough and people will pick Link despite him not being their favourite character
That's exactly what I said. Link vs. Anyone would be a tripling, at least. |

TheOneAboveAll 12/15/11 8:13:00 AM #411 |
Link vs. Everyone isn't what we are looking for. People will just read that and vote Link. What most people actually mean is Link vs. Anyone. And we already pretty much saw that. Link would get tripled.

Yeah Smurf, but Cloud isn't that much weaker against Link than he was back then. I think that's more Clinkeroth reaching a peak (Sephy has probably fallen a bit but not Cloud) and Samus and Snake getting much stronger than it is FFVII dropping. Because if FFVII has dropped that much, that means that Link has pretty much dropped close to that much as well.

Mega Man is still stronger than Sonic. I don't think that Link does much better here than he did against Sonic last year. I'd assume around 0% at the highest. I highly doubt he gets the tripling.

I just thought about this. Mario has no chance of beating Link. Mario has more of a chance of beating Cloud. Cloud has some (tiny) chance of beating Link. I think the rivalries just exacerbate all three of those statements. Is it possible that the bracket was set up this way to give Mario a chance of winning if Cloud/Seph can knock off Link first?

The bonus poll has to be Link/Ganondorf against Mario/Sonic. Nothing else even comes close. I guess Link/Ganondorf against Batman/Superman might have potential too.
Does lower votals actually mean that Guybrush has a chance? If it were a night match he might actually be able to pull it off. |

The more I look at it the more I realize the Alucard/Shep/Freeman/Glados/Frog division is absolutely fubar because any one of those 5 teams has at least some potential to win it.
I agree if you take out Freeman. |

If people vote based on rivalries, they stomp. If they just see those two as a tag team they probably will not make it out of their division.
And since most will vote as a tag team but some will take rivalry into account we will probably get a very good match between them and Luigi. |

That bet/bank system was too easy for me to win a prize out of it. It was a Karma prize, because I didn't fill out an entry to win a game system (or some games).
Maybe that's because you had 211 entries, if I recall correctly. |
