okay, i am completely confused as to why we have TWO shows about Nobunaga's Ambition running at the same time that features almost everyone as a female and has time travel of some sort in its plot.

like, at least wait until Sengoku Collection to end.

Chae's problem is that she's just plain incomplete. there's half a powerset and... nothing. that one isn't even a case of 'toss because it doesn't work' or 'toss because it's a joke' or the like. that one's just plain 'this isn't even an entry yet but a set of ideas.'

and hey, nobody expects their enemy to be an coaster. with every pokemon move in the game he can always use PROTECT and SUBSTITUTE to create a.... mini coaster in front of him. also to pre-empt an opponent who's attacking wildly he can go ME FIRST and bam, dead.

worst case, his substitutes run low and he goes RECOVER all his health back. he can also throw out a TOXIC and completely confuse the enemy as to what the hell is attacking them.

and you never expect a coaster to shoot a HYPER BEAM.

nah, Jane's biggest issue is that out of dimension move + buff everything to a dramatic level. i mean hitting isn't that good either, but the hit stuff + the miss stuff + the out of dimension stuff (+ the mind protection - technically in the right terrain she could beat Hyperorb with this one alone) = welps.

and moved D Money up one. works fine any way you look at it and yeah, he'll do well for himself. have a hard time putting him in the one above that too as that seems to go slightly out of his ballpark there... probably.

indeed, statue will! THE ENEMIES REUNITE. chick's got some massive durability to her, but she's slow. tradeoff of 'who can win on this one' for a decent amount of folk in that tier, and the one above has Hyperorb already so... who needs 2?

challenging between tiers never got fully fleshed out (it couldn't have), but the basic idea went this way:
If you go on a winning streak through your division, maybe you don't belong in that division. maybe you're too strong. thus, after X amount of wins, you'd challenge the biggest loser of the one above to see how that works. that way you can move up and down accordingly.

D Money in a higher tier also could work, the summons are the big question there. it DOES also allow for a D Money vs. Roman match early on. it also helps that everyone there is female. one man in an all girl division? i can dig it. especially if it's the Gangstamancer.

Ika technically has the parameters of someone deep, deep in top tier, possibly above it. then you get cheesy effects. no division does cheesy better than the Middle tier, especially if D Money and Roman are both there. she's really a case of 'goddamn squid kaiju makes me wish there was a shrimp terrain.' okay, that's unrelated. but it's a hilarious unrelated picture.

if Hyperorb was around, and she purposefully misses a series of punches and it's 2 feet away from her, what happens. terrain is flat. no problems or reasons why it would miss.

does like, the terrain suddenly explode to make it miss.
that's part of why you see her in the exhibition list with it, i genuinely couldn't figure out how the hell that worked - technically "it's still roling so it's just repeatedly attacking" works, but if you're too close to the point where that leaves you with just a continuous assault being dodged, well uh....

(there's other problems with her as was mentioned earlier, but yeah.)

i did indeed miss that terrain, despite the bold.
will fix the solai bit there. couple others prob have similar things needing to be changed (e.g., you'd think a Fusionist would mention Fusion stuff earlier, but i could always just have a link to that section specifically too).

curious, who'd you put in Middle? a lot of guys in Low match well to one another and Middle gets quite a bit over 'em. the dancer i can see in that category for example.

granted, i can't not think of her as being represented by Kimi Aoi, the dancing sister of the lead character in the Horizon anime.

<_<; Radmore basically is... either the smoke kills anything because of RUN AND HIDE or they.... are immune to it. which for all but 1 also puts them in the camp of "a dinky sword ain't gonna do anything because they aren't human".

unless you go to higher tiers anyway, in which case the RUN AND HIDE strategy doesn't even work on top of most of 'em being in the 'this sword isn't doing anything.'


end result, kinda leaves a bad spot. initially had a bottom tier with him and The Ambassador in there with 2 others, but it quickly became clear that when trying to break down the low tier that i... could not make a single good matchup because he's just not made for them.

almost done with Rhythm Thief, i think. could be wrong! will know sometime tomorrow. this game has an identity crisis thus far; some segments are definitely something i'd expect in a rhythm game, others are what i'd expect in a mini game collection.

with that said, while a lot of things are easy early on i just got SLAMMED with one of the hardest things i've seen in the handheld ones. EBA's got nothing on the Feel The Magic/Rub Rabbits theme. that thing's crazy hard.

musically, this thing has been pretty great. yeah, some tunes aren't too impressive, but there's a lot of tunes in a lot of styles. jazz, classical, SALSA, and much, much more.

story's been good thus far. i expect it to get better. Phantom R has style out the ass though, and playing a thief with a dog is cool. also i'm still not sure of what to think of a mini detective with a soccer ball DEFENDING JUSTICE AND LAW with it and us... kicking it back and forth to establish superiority. no seriously, i've done this twice now. i'm sure it's a running theme.

with that said, i still ahve quite a bit to go. if i'm wrong on this being almost done then that's pretty great. it's both a pick up and play sort of game and a put it down for a while kinda game. tows a nice in between for most of the way.


Rhythm Thief > Theaterhythm as a game. no doubts on that.
TR though, thus far, is a clearly superior rhythm game. we'll see soon how that goes.



edit: oh, and i'm prob the first person here with Heroes of Ruin. co-op dungeon crawler with good internet play.

wiki updated on the character list and terrains to final versions. gotta see what to do/can be done with a couple of them (Meera especially comes to mind since ayuyu was a COWARD and bailed) but most are fine (e.g., Jeffery's group). if there's any mistakes there, feel free to say what.

also updated the contest format section to actually not be just empty space.


still need to put down the terrain preferences somewhere on the wiki.
still need to update the ___ by creators section.

you can also expect some minor editing of things along the way to try to consolidate some information for easier postings... though that can happen after i've got some pools goin'.

no more new terrains, no more new characters. if you have some chararacters that you never got to do a terrain preference you can still post that. it's not new content there so it's fair game.

show's got good taste in who they pick. this half of the season also looks to actually be... dare i say, interesting. OP seems to suggest there's a good 8 or so new characters to introduce.

of course the short fat guy will be the harem lead.

as we're still probably getting some, no need to pick yet. as for how, that i'm not sure of. have a couple thoughts done though. there's the "serious contest" route, and there's the "for fun" route. both are pretty fair and legitimate viewpoints, especially for something like this, as though it's a competition between user-made characters, "my character winning" really isn't the main goal.

just one rule comes to mind that's needed and falls somewhere between those lines:

- by default i don't think anyone should be forced to have their character stuck in a terrain that heavily shift the fight away from the combatant and instead puts the focus heavy on the terrain. so by default, the "Terrain-Focused" category is disabled from the randomizer. if you're cool with your character being in it, that's fine, just say so. i'll make a list along the way.


the rest here is just an idea. there's 23-24 terrains made right now and removing those guys doesn't shrink it much.

so here's a possible way to work, the serious route: to keep options wide, 3 likes and 3 dislikes for the fighter (if you include the terrain focused group you can add 1 more to each). where to go exactly from that point, still don't know. most obvious is "both like something, good to go." dislikes should also take priority on pool reducing in that kind of system to avoid a terrible matchup done by chance. from there you can just randomizer the rest.

so basically:
Like-Like -> Terrain picked. if multiples, random of the pairs.
Dislike -> Removed from randomizer pool.
Random terrain thereafter.

(i expect a good amount of you to like the RST terrain though...!)

the major flaw in that idea's the obvious one, requires more input. a lot more seeing how people actually have to read terrains to understand and know, now it's going beyond just the guys they made. at that point, it's actual work and a pain in the ass while also going against the idea of "hands off the finalized character." so there's flaws to that, both fundamental and technical there.

now for the other spectrum:
a different idea would simply to allow just full on randomizer (with the disabled-unless-said-otherwise terrain group still working like that) because hey, it's not a one-off contest in a bracket. if you get screwed by terrain you get screwed, no need to take it so damn seriously as hey, this isn't the typical contest and is a lot more 'for fun' based. comes with the turf. at the least, you do still get to decide if you're cool with a match where the focus will be heavily on the terrain. some can be bizarre and headache inducing. others can be hilarious. e.g., if the coffin one has no means of escape via teleporting or something, then what happens if you stuff the Kaiju guy who's hurt by gags with the guy who's got TK weapons the size of buildings inside? and if you CAN escape, then... what's it like (this is a big problem to it and needs to be expressed in there, but you're welcome for that mental image).


right now i lean to the latter in terms of spirit of the contest, while naturally am inclined to the former because it's a contest. personal habit, that. don't know if there's any other better ideas out there, but if there are by all means, toss 'em in.

PC port is fine, playing it right now. was slightly worried based on what i heard but really i think it's just shadows that caused the problem. 360 controller was just... having a 360 controller plugged in. open it in steam, pick configuration, and one of them will be input keyboard or 360. not that you even need that as i've used both in the game without a problem.

unsure if i want to roll Bo or Charlie. Faye is a must.

also so you know: the most logical progression here very, VERY likely relates to the winner of MITB. i don't think it's a coincidence that we just happen to have her involved in a match directly on the same night that we just happen to get another briefcase. there's gotta be something that happens there for her character to continue being logical. even if it's another same night cash-in to ruin her dastardly plans.

Here the story is about her, the focus is on her, and the story actually hinges on her actions and decisions. The only people who DONT see it that way are Bryan and Punk, who are no Hogan and Savage.

now with this match she is, for the first time in this entire storyline, going to be directly involved with it. not blamed for it, not a quick bump, but direct involvement with the match. and... they've made it very, very clear that both men know her actions will determine the champ. we literally had dragon pull a rose out of a conviniently placed flower jar to do this!

like, that's been the entire evolution of this storyline. now that she's directly involved, in something that was actually voted on by over 3/4 of people on wwe's main site, you have something that A) people WANT, B) allows them to continue the storyline, and C) still keep the focus on the belt.

again, it's one thing to dislike the angle. that's fine to do, you disagree with the idea of the main belt being about more than the belt is your problem there, which is a fair viewpoint to have.

but here, the main belt IS the centerpiece of the angle. without it, the AJ bits can't work. like, basic rundown:

- Dragon lost the belt due to AJ. if it was "Dragon lost a match due to her" it wouldn't be a big deal. instead, he lost it in a big way and dumped her in the process - because he lost the belt. explicitly so for that reason. in the main match to settle it between those two men, she was not involved. it was straight, clean, and got both men over well. good result and good use of AJ as a result, she was used to stretch the story and protect both wrestlers.

- when Dragon goes to Raw she magically joins Raw too. yet when Dragon went to Raw he immediately went for the belt. AJ's involvements happen when? ...in establishing a relationship with Punk, her fallout with Dragon, and some character development for herself. at this point it seems to be about her but she's not involved... yet. Dragon/Punk went by pretty cleanly but had a murky finish to play with.

- then they add Kane in, increase the amount that AJ counts for all 3 men, and now she starts getting involved in things regarding the belt. Kane can't deal with her emotionally and gets distracted causing him to lose - twice! - before he bails. he bails on her and in the process, also leaves the title scene. you have more development by not just her but also the individuals in the process, Kane isn't all about hate and seems to basically get ribbed on with his female storylines, dragon seems to be pulling a Jericho-esqued "I was right!" theme for himself, punk just... well, is punk. which is a hell of a lot more than what we had before. it allows all 3 men involved with the belt show off some of their personality and traits in a way that they can't do with each other. it also allows for her character to continue to develop. as for her direct involvement with the actual title? uh, a really nasty bump -> distraction on the guy who's clearly filler (and was great at it) -> GTS. protects everyone but still feels 'clean.'

and then we get to now. she's directly in charge and seems to be playing both. neither actually cares for her more than the belt, unlike Kane did, and have no objections with being open about it (well, had before special guest ref'd). their focus: title. hers: herself. and she's trying to force herself over it, yet neither actually wants to.


which is, again, progress. story advances. characters advance. but the belt is the middle of everything she's done. she's effectively been a fantastic tool to protect the wrestlers and keep things going. and Miss Elizabeth's been brought up before when it comes to her because rarely, rarely do we have a female that actually intrigues such a vast amount of people like what they got going. that's a good thing, it keeps people talking and watching.

now, you dislike the belt isn't solely the angle. again, fine.
but the belt is the main angle. she's riding its coattails, both in a booking sense and in kayfabe right now.

then you, again, go put Sandow with the US title. have him feud with a guy more appropiate to his level in the booking to try to make that belt not suck.

and yes, it could easily be a blood feud between Punk and Dragon and play out almost the same. in fact, that was the point shown on Raw, where AJ tried to make herself the centerpiece and failed MISERABLY at it until she went all suicidal on it. she wants to be in the middle, she wants the attention, but neither of those men are willing to give it to her for her irregular antics because

AJ needs the title for her angle to work.

so complaining about AJ being in the title scene there doesn't make much sense as she's done very little to affect it thus far but has worked to make it more personal between the competitors. though she's the clear personal focus, the title is the clear story focus because nothing she's doing would work without it. that's a good thing - she's effectively a catalyst of storytelling. we don't know where this story is going because it's July. they've done a fantastic job building up the relationship issue, her mental breakdown, and seem to be building it to a heel turn where she wants to continue to be in the middle of it all. now she'll get directly involved in the title and we don't know how, or in what way, it'll play out.

effectively, they made a diva actually relevant and matter for wrestling at the same time as advancing a story involving the main belt. that's a good thing.

they're working on their 'big summer angle.' thing is you hate one of the guys involved to a point where you act as if anything he touches is poison even when it objectively is fine. you'll never be won over on that because of your blind hatred.

and for a "warm body" he'll do fine holding that belt as a guy who's experienced and fights in the upper midcard to low main event level. as opposed to either santino or sandow. hell, or ryder. that makes no sense, at all, to do.
