While I agree with you in that the level design of MMX8 is amazing, I think you're exaggerating to saying that Optic Sunflower stage has a lot of sections with pits and walljumping.

IIRC only the last two "hallways" were like that and the rest of the stage don't have any obstacles at all. I still liked a lot that level though.
