watched control doing synthesis now then I'll talk about the endings. Gah why can't I skip this dialogue
Yeah, this really sucked when trying to play through, so I only saw two endings. For some reason I thought they let you skip more of it before the EC, but that may just be wishful thinking. I mean, they allow you to skip a few of the new dialogue lines that you can explore with the Catalyst kid, but it's even worse now that they added extra unskippable cutscenes.
From: Jeff Zero | #001
Oh, and here's a huge one -- you get to ask the Starchild to go much, much more in-depth about the options now and voice your opinion on them and stuff.
Remembered now to address this after seeing their conversation twice.
I have to really disagree here. I think you get 3 new options of dialogue to explore, and to me, most of them weren't at all satisfactory. Only one do you get to make further comment on, and the Catalyst then responds to Shepard's point with a pretty weak argument using a bad analogy comparing the Reapers to fire to which Shepard once again responds with silence. They did, however, change the text on the upper right of the dialogue wheel to make it seem like Shepard had more things to say for each of the 3 subjects you talked about on the left, but these were all placeholder lines that led to Shepard saying the exact same line he used before the EC anyway.
they fixed An End Once and For All (didn't like how it originally got all abrupt and meh at the very end)
For as much as I still didn't like the EC, I couldn't agree more with you on this being a a really nice improvement.
Just did Destroy (my original ending) sooo good (showed thane in a flashback for some reason also Tali) for mine Tali was holding the plaque and Liara was the one talking to Joker (wondering why it wasn't Garrus) also it basically implied you survived so yay
Same deal for me with Liara talking to Joker, also wondering why it wasn't Garrus. I used Liara on like 3 missions and I think 2 of them were forced on me. Also had Javik step out of the Normandy at the end even though I think I used him on a total of 1 mission. :(
And before anyone asks, no, it doesn't seem like pretty much anything changes up until the Starchild sequence.
Besides the scene you mentioned with Hackett, there's also a scene as you're running down toward the transport beam or whatever where the Normandy appears out of nowhere and your squadmates get picked up.
I only chose the "new" option so far where I refused the 3 options which came off half as an "eff you" towards the people that hated that sequence and half like a "well, you guys complained about a lack of choice, so here's ONE MORE to placate you. We good now?"
I'll wait until I watch the Destroy Ending before I decide overall how I feel about this (I don't really care about control or synthesis, since I totally hated the idea of them as soon as they were introduced... still in the last 5 minutes of the game), but from what I understand (I didn't read your other post so as to not spoil myself) it clearly kills off EDI and the geth which the geth could be assumed before, but at least in the previous destroy ending it was possible to see EDI coming out of the ship. Doesn't matter to me if it didn't make a ton of sense, I was happier with it that way considering the ending didn't make much sense anyhow.
Again, I'll watch the epilogue slideshow or whatever before I decide whether I hated it or if it somehow makes up for the ending's previous failures, but I definitely have the sense I'll still hate it since I fall into the "the very concept of the Starchild pisses you off" category you described. That said, if the epilogue is done well, then at least the closure that was previously missing will be fixed, which would maybe make me a little more pleased with the EC.
Haha, wow. I was actually about to vote for Modern Warfare before the topic closed when I became distracted by something on tv. When I was done watching I became really confused as to why I clicked on a locked topic instead of the newest one to vote.
Just thought it was worth noting how close it was to there being a tie.
"Obviously Stern's referring to the loaded question fallacy and not actually implying Rome is a domestic abuser, but would Rome's audience get the philosophy class reference?"
Stern's question made no sense though since Rome wasn't asking him a loaded question in the fallacious sense of the term.
In which case I believe there are a couple of pricetag DLCs out for it already. It seems BioWare/EA are really riding high on the surprise success of their multiplayer, though, because there's at least one more big expansion to it coming out shortly.
I don't know how they've handled other platforms, but I know the first (and maybe second? has there been a second?) DLC for multi-player was free on 360, and I thought was free everywhere else, until a certain date that's well in the future.
do I have to buy it before I start my playthrough, or can I finish me2, then buy it, then play it with my file and save the progress?
Well, it will tie into ME3 and have some effect on the story. I'd say the events are worth knowing about at least. I want to say it's maybe 1-2 hours, but I honestly don't remember how long it took me.
And no, you can buy it and finish after your playthrough as in ME3 you just straight up transfer an ME2 save file instead of transferring an endgame save. I would probably even recommend playing it after you complete ME2's story, though you can technically play it whenever.
I'm below 20% and apparently have gotten some positive feedback recently since I've jumped from like 15 to 18 or so. I take it as a compliment, since I assume most of that feedback is from competitive games.
From: SupremeZero | #004 ... are Farday and Fenady different people?
I'm going to guess not given the amount of typos contained in the average Patrick Klepek article and even in that very same post. At the very least that's the only time his name is mentioned and he's never given a first name, so probably the same guy.
From: Xuxon | #155 Also struck himself out 5 times. Maybe he should convert to pitcher, lol.
And Orioles with the best record in baseball now. What the hell.
His other 3 at bats were also ground outs, one for a double play, so 0-8 on the game, but wins it and strikes out Saltalamacchia and Gonzalez . All that and the Red Sox would have won in the bottom of the 16th if not for a relay throw to get Byrd at the plate to end the inning. That game was too amazing/hilarious.
From: Vlado | #014 WTF... What did you answer then? That's the closest option to your situation. I doubt my vision is absolutely perfect, but that's what I answered.
I didn't answer it because none of the options applied to me.
Is there actually an hour-long Community tonight? FiOS guide is telling me that the Community episode "Virtual Systems Analysis" at 8 is followed by 30 Rock's "Murphy Brown Lied To Us" at 8:30, The Office, then Parks and Rec. Wikipedia also suggests that there's only one episode, so unless this is really a special hour long episode...
That's what sucks about having the PS3 version. You miss a lot of cool stuff.
Oh, wow, I've somehow become even more disappointed in ME3. I didn't even know you could have any conversations with him until seeing that video. Apparently I had to talk to him after activating the medi-gel dispenser sidequest, but before completing it, and he's standing in a place that you have no reason to walk to while doing that sidequest, especially considering it takes like 20 seconds to complete it after activating. :(
I mean, I thought it was really weird how he appeared out of nowhere at the end of it, so I guess it's good to know that it was supposed to make sense. But it sucks knowing that there's a much longer convo and I guess war assets you get from talking to him that you totally miss otherwise? It also would have been a lot funnier watching the concluding scene to that quest if I actually had the context of knowing he was hanging around the docks and had a reason for being there instead of him coming totally out of left field.
Based off what's mentioned in that thread, it seems some people think it's not Ada, since whoever it was that gave that info was right about the full name of "Wesker, Jr." before it was revealed.
We argued a lot about this, I said that she was made of Reapertech and should therefore be destroyed, but (unclear, don't remember - wish I'd been able to ask a followup as his response doesn't make much sense)"
I've also seen people claiming she showed up in their ending despite making the Destroy choice, but until seeing that I assumed they were making it up or confused as to which ending they chose.
Yeah, this pretty much confirms that the indoctrination interpretation is going to be straight up rejected by the DLC. Obviously, those are the words of one writer and who knows if their team has even worked out the plot at this point, but it looks like they're just straight up taking the ending in all its current terribleness and running with it.
Also seems to confirm - if there was any doubt - that the "Takyris" dude or whatever his name was that posted on the Penny Arcade forums was totally Patrick Weekes.
From: PartOfYourWorld | #484 Bought a Premium Spectre Pack and got both the Krogan Sentinel and Salarian Infiltrator. This is good, right?
Also, how do you tell an Uncommon/Rare/Ultra Rare? The colors around the box?
Yes, the colors around the box (White/Gold/Black with an N7 stripe or something) will tell you.
From: TheRock1525 | #130 But the problem is how exactly is the Reaper trying to trick Shepard? "Gee, I should trust TIM simply because he was right and ignore all the awful stuff he's done up until this point." Like I said, either Reaper Indoctrination is pitiful because they literally present you with a situation where resisting is hilariously easy, or it's played out literally.
I don't know. I think in this case they were pretty successful at the very least in making the player believe the scenario playing out was actually occurring, regardless of what one determines the actual ending to be after the fact. It seems your argument comes more from a place of "the control option should never even exist, since why would anyone ever follow TIM's way of thinking?" which seems like a case in itself that at least that part of the ending was bad. In my view though what TIM believed to be true shouldn't be what ultimately influences the player's decision. As was said previously, just because he decided that the ends justified the means, that doesn't mean that the end wasn't still the correct one.
From: TheLastObelisk | #124 I brought this up in a previous topic but I don't think anyone answered it. One of my coworkers thinks that Stargazer could be Shepard. What do you guys think?
Doesn't he exist in all endings, even the ones in which Shepard dies?
From: TheRock1525 | #111 Agreeing that TIM was right about controlling the Reapers isn't the issue.
It's the issue of using a man you, at the very least, think less of than Anderson to represent that choice. If you want to convince someone to go a certain route, why would you use the lesser of two options.
To use my personal experiences: if my mom told me to do one thing and my dad told me to do something different, my experiences with both would lead me to choose my dad's route, especially when its something I don't fully comprehend the consequences of.
Sorry to jump in out of nowhere, but isn't it logical that you'd immediately know something was up if someone you knew well and trusted started acting completely out of character suggesting a path of action you know there's no way they'd ever agree with? I'm not at all saying that the Indoctrination interpretation is accurate, but I don't see that part of it as necessarily a problem.
When you do the Reaper IFF mission, you get up to 2 missions to do stuff IF you have loyalty missions. If you've done them all already, it's immediate.
So you need to save one non-Legion loyalty mission, do the Reaper IFF, recruit Legion, and then do both of the loyalty missions you have left.
And then you must go to the Omega-4 Relay immediately (I think you can shop first, though- possibly not) or your crew starts dying.
You don't need to save another loyalty mission in order to do Legion's after the IFF, you just need to talk to Legion and get his loyalty mission before activating the Galaxy Map which otherwise triggers the kidnapping of the crew. And you're correct, you can shop first before hitting the Omega-4 Relay without any repercussions to your crew.
I've seen this several times before on boards for video games with turrets in them, though I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way in real life. Of course, there are no scenarios that come to mind where I would hear anyone use the word "turret" in real life either. So no, you're definitely not a crazy person.

Congrats to SuperNiceDog on winning the Guru Contest.

Congrats to SuperNiceDog on winning the Guru Contest.
Just watched this, and that ending with Gerstmann getting Tebowned to conclude what sounded like a 5-6 game losing streak after leading for almost that entire game was spectacular.
I know when I set my status as Busy, it gets rid of notifications outside of achievements, but I don't think it'll tell you that "dagdagdag wants to play SSF4," though I guess I'm not 100% sure about the latter, since the beacon-thing is pretty new, and I've never had anyone actually use it while I've been on.
For old time's sake: Level 5: Green Bay and Denver. Looks like I'll be stuck on Week 5 since Week 5. The only one of the 3 of us that first got to it to still be here. >_>
