The best example of this is when Venom came out, and one of the big audience reviews I read on RT was something like "The first 45 minutes were pretty boring but the rest was good. Fuck the critics 5/5."

Yep, that's what I think happened with my buddy.

I've said it before but I think the concept of "self care" can be pretty self-destructive in the wrong hands. Like too many folks instead of thinking of it as "know my own personal limits and if I'm burning out take appropriate steps to treat myself and take a breather" instead see it as "oh shit I don't ever have to do anything that doesn't actively coddle me"

I think with my buddy it's a combo of shit like that and the therapist adjusting meds he was on (in which case like holy shit change them back)

A friend of mine started going to therapy and he's gotten actively worse.

He went from a normal functioning dude to a guy who never leaves the house, who's a nervous wreck, who can barely stick to a plan because he gets "depressed" or "tired" all the time.

Dude's a 30 year old man.

Therapy is great, but I feel like the wrong therapist combined with someone misinterpreting what they're being told is a recipe for disaster

In the end...the only chance at change is forcing the billionaires to give up power...one way or another that will be brutal.

The trick is if you want to go the violent route as opposed to the democratic reform route then you need to convince average people that the uncertainty and massive disruption/pain a violent uprising would cause is an improvement or would lead to an improvement over their current standard of living.

And many people understandably just aren't willing to roll the dice like that.

Like if there wasn't a revolution in the US during the Depression when people were literally eating shoe leather to survive, it's certainly not gonna happen rn.

The way season 3 ended felt the most egregious with this, just ridiculously contrived to make everything return to the status quo and have nothing really happen of importance to the overall story.

They even had an out with him getting stabbed in the ear by Maeve.

At the very least having his eardrum punctured enough to bleed out his head like that should throw his balance off REAL bad. Like you could've done something like he can't fly anymore or w.e.

Considering the vast majority of subscribers nowadays are people who join for a single month just for the purpose of using premium for Wabbajack (myself included), I can't say I didn't see this coming.

The site is getting quite better all the time though, so I don't mind it too much tbh.

I mean politics is local. Start in your community, get involved in a third party in your town/district, work with advocacy groups for electoral reform (states like Maine and Alaska have implemented ranked-choice voting in recent years) or if you live in a state that hasn't ratified the National Popular Vote Compact then that's another thing to look into.

Or just complaining "two party system bad" online works too, whatever
