Hard boots in order of how bitter I feel over losing them

Auron > Fran >>> Ifrit > Mjrn >>> Fang >= Minwu > The rest

Auron and Fran I feel like I personally failed. Auron is a top ten character, and while I had the power to prevent his elimination, the other alternative was potentially losing a top two character.

Fran is terribly underrated in general, but especially in this contest. He character is subtle and nuanced, and it absolutely does NOT boil down to "furry bait Chewbacca stand-in with headaches", you absolute buffoons who refer to her as such.

Ifrit is one of my favorite summons. Not really much depth to its character, but it's especially useful as an early game summon typically. Nearly every iteration of it has a badass design.

Mjrn I don't care about nearly as much as her older sister, but I like her enough to have envisioned the entire Viera trio in one contest eventually- a lofty goal I know. We had a Viera sister duo with actual spoken (not just text) dialog, unique designs, and actual plot relevance, and so I thought others might prioritize at least one of them over the side quest only Viera sisters, but they weren't memorable or memeable enough for that consideration I guess. Silly me I have only myself to blame for not making Mjrn a higher priority in those brutal early rounds, but I really didn't expect Fran to eat it again. Why do we, as a whole, keep dragging her back in only to let her suffer!? Can't we let Vaan or Penelo take some of the heat instead??

I've never played XIII or II but these two have really cool designs, and I feel like I'd like them.

That's about it! I truly do not care a single iota about the rest, though that might change if I played some more FFs. Overall outside of the first two this has been a painless set of hard boots.

Hm... actually if the Tactics Montblanc is implied to be the same as the XII Montblanc then I'd put him above Fang, but below Mjrn. He's not really relevant enough in XII for me to feel very strongly about him, but he's a cute lil' quest-giver.

Some of those X characters aren't jokes, and some of those characters that are jokes weren't even nominated in by actual fans of X. Buddy wasn't nominated in at all. He was placed in by raytan, correct?

Maybe I'm biased because it feels like, more often than not, it just so happens to be my last racehorse getting intentionally tripped up right at the damned finish line, but I refuse to refer to it as anything other than exactly what I feel like it is. We're just not gonna see eye to eye on this, Leon. Ever, apparently. One man's "pro strats" is another woman's "cowardice" I suppose.

Did I ever say they were, or even imply it? Absolutely agree they are not beholden to dance for my amusement, but they picked a boring ass final with a boring ass foregone conclusion, and while I cannot fault them for it, you cannot stop me from judging them for their boring ass choices.

Like come on, was that really a question?

Lightning vs Auron would've been exciting if nothing else. A forgone conclusion just makes everyone feel like they wasted their time.

Now if the question is whether I, personally, would deliberately pick the stronger character even knowing that it might have the potential to backfire on the character I prefer, well... it really depends on the character. I cannot say yes 100% of the time, but let's be real here: I'm most likely never going to see two characters I love in the top 3 anyway!

I've been doing a pretty bad job of this lately...

Too bad the #JusticeForLightning crowd were too CHICKENWUSS to even risk finding out. I mean... given what happened with Marche and Steiner, two literally unstoppable juggernauts that would've beaten pretty much anything on the field given the momentum they had built up by the end of their... unique respective contest runs, I don't blame the Lightning and XIII supporters for taking the coward's way out, but I do judge them. Every year. Lamers.

Outside of like 3 characters really I can't afford to worry about that, hence the dookie result! I'm sorry. I can't be like you and just support the same game year after year after year. I've long since retired from the FFX General position, so I've gotta pick and choose my battles. Auron was a most unfortunate casualty, but the war is not yet over and no soldier's sacrifice will be forgotten forever.

Sure we can get Zell back in. All I ask for in exchange is another Selphie hard boot. Let's make it happen, people!
