Israel's actions are shitty, but so is doing this. Israeli people do not inherently represent their government. It's discrimination.
Okay, hear me out. If someone is being discriminated for their nationality, like in this case, shouldn't it reflect poorly on Israel itself? Like, yes, these citizens may not be culpable or complicit, but by being denied a service, shouldn't that make THEM angry with THEIR government? I can see it as a form of protest on the Japanese owner's side. I deny service to this nationality (it would be different if they were denying Jews from any other country) in the hope that these citizens will question the agenda of their country? I feel like if the American army and civilians were actively genociding Canadians along the border, and encroaching into their territory and stealing it for themselves, blacklisting Americans abroad wouldn't be nuts.

I've been watching the Chucky TV show and there is a young gay couple who are both out and falling in love with each other. It's incredibly sweet to see, and I actually had the thought that it's so nice to see queer joy in media. Sure, there's a homicidal doll on the loose, but seeing them express their happiness and queerness, unabashedly, is meaningful!

From some website:

Put simply, queer joy is a concept that acknowledges the importance of joy and pleasure in the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals. It challenges the dominant narrative that being queer is exclusively rooted in pain or trauma and instead recognizes the resilience, resistance, and creativity of LGBTQ+ people

I mean wouldn't the truly selfish thing be to get on a plane and ignore the thousands of people who are going to imminently lose their lives in an evil game run by billionaires? At the start of the series this character would do exactly that. Get what he wants and then do what he wants. The fact that he's sacrificing being with his daughter for a REAL, actually noble reason, shows tons of growth imo.

I liked the story and tone, and the acting was fine. Kravitz's Kyle was more compelling to me than R-Patz's Bats, though I do enjoy seeing him on screen, and would like to see what he does in a sequel. Paul Dano was okay, but nothing revelatory.

The actual writing and direction, not so great. The first few action scenes are all right, and then after that they're all pretty bad, especially the end. The car chase was boring. It felt like they thought they needed a car chase scene and did the bare minimum. Some of the dialogue felt clunky.
