A hobby is a community. Welcome them in. Teach them. Answer their questions.

Why are you making them endure the same hardship you did when you have the opportunity to be an ambassador for the hobby and lower the barrier of entry for someone who wants to participate and share your passion?

A lot of this topic just comes across as selfish.

Not my fault that trying to interact with newcomers results in less fun to be had.

Something something not being open minded to new perspectives.

Also new people tend to ask questions more than learn on their own because they keep wanting to shortcut the process of getting into a hobby.

They ruin it by changing the culture and telling me the values I hold about the hobby are antiquated and boring.

I didn't haggle on the price for my current car because I knew the BB value walking in the door. I knew the posted price was just right for what the car I was interested in was. Rather what I did was make sure they covered certain things pro bono and gave me the best possible warranty at a steep discount.

It was actually a pretty good deal, the warranty has come through for me on several occasions (much to my surprise, honestly).

There's actually a legitimately compelling pushback post that was made on this subject. And it was posted like...10 years ago no less. So there was a sense that the old guard was getting sick of /pol/'s antics even back then.

I don't want to post the image since it involves the n-word uncensored (but only to illuminate the problem, not as a slur) but if you want to find it look for a picture of a blue penguin next to a 4chan post (unfortunately said penguin is also...uh..."The Right Arm of the Forbidden One", if you know what I'm referring to by that).

For the record I'm currently banned from every board on 4chan but that is 100% justified.

Basically dropping out of online communities in general to reconnect with real people because everywhere you were a part of just stopped being worth your time with the waves of newcomers changing the landscape too much and making you feel increasingly displaced with their culture taking over.

4chan represents the epitome of "I REFUSE to change with the times." Just look at it that way. Any rising social issue that threatens the status quo will cause massive pushback with their community.

It's okay to squat if the property can be reclaimed by the owner easily.

The problem is the exploitation of tenancy laws that shouldn't apply to people who weren't entitled to use the property at any discretion beyond the owner's.

If the owner wants someone out of property there should only be one civil request required before the police have immediate and full jurisdiction to force vacancy. I'd say 72 hours max to voluntarily vacate who would fit the definition of "squatting" (so anyone occupying outside of a mutual and permitted agreement with the property owner).

And all rental agreements need to be written. I'm not sure how fair it is towards people paying rent off the books but, quite frankly, they should demand the property owner sign a rental agreement for their own defense. If they fail to do that then it's on them if the 72 hours kicks in.

Since lying to people to get sympathy is generally frowned upon how do you get others to care about your existence when you're feeling like no one does?

That's why I keep trying to get myself banned when I divorce from a community. Without that knowledge that "you are NOT allowed to come back," I probably will out of morbid curiosity and get sucked into the toxicity again.
