Ice cream trucks have always been way overpriced. I mean they have to be just to make money that way. You're paying for the convenience of getting the ice cream right away on a hot day.

The first option tends to be a lot more aggressive in injecting themselves into any conversation they can, so I picked that one.

$40 per hour isn't enough.

If it was $100 an hour, then it would be more attractive. I could work the bad job for a year or two, invest it, then do the $20 an hour job until I can't do it anymore.

So I've been considering what to do with my new Alhaitham. I don't have Nahida and I don't have Nilou. I was talking to a friend about it earlier today and he recommended Alhaitham/Fischl/Xingqiu/Yaoyao. I asked about Furina and he wasn't sure about Yaoyao's healing with her, and looking around at some guides, I'm thinking my lack of Baizhu might hurt there. So I'm thinking of trying out his initial suggestion of Fischl/XQ/Yaoyao. What do you guys think, though?

I do need to start considering pulling on a Baizhu rerun if time allows, though. I feel like I'm missing out with him.

Yeah you need lots of healing with Furina. Not only the HP drain, but her buff works better with full party healing. Yaoyao by herself probably isn't enough. You could possibly make it work with a secondary electro healer--Dori actually works pretty well with Al Haitham, believe it or not--but you're probably better off running Xingqiu and saving Furina for a different team.

So I would also agree with the Yaoyao / Xingqiu / Fischl team. They go really great with Al Haitham.

I know right? Just throw us a bone and give us a 4 star selector every couple patches. They could even put it in the shop and let people spend money to get more of them--they'd probably make money that way.

Yeah, not only is the pool bigger but Hoyo refuses to let us buy any characters in the shop except the original 12.

Part of it is I've never lived in a place that has them so I've driven through maybe... five of them in my life up to now.

I want Sethos, but Clorinde is kind of meh for me and I really want to save up for Natlan. So I just did a 20 pull and saw what it got me.

Whenever this happens to me, looking into a light always makes the sneeze happen.

As for whether it's better than Star Wars, I see little reason to compare the two. Dune has a much more interesting story and world, more complex character development, and more profound things to say about the world. But the execution is not as much fun as a Star Wars movie. In fact the books gradually get so obscure and convoluted that they felt like a chore to read, to me exactly. Even hardcore Dune fans agree that the later books aren't exactly page turners. Whereas Star Wars is genuinely fun to watch. So they each do their own thing.

Paul Atreides brings about the worst genocide (more like genocides, plural) in human history because he wants the catharsis of revenge on the Harkonnen family. He does everything knowing this is the likely outcome but he does it anyway, completely failing to stop the horrific violence from happening.

Then, he sees that humanity is doomed, and what needs to be done to prevent its destruction, but he's too much of a coward to do it himself. He leaves it to his children to endure millenia of torture in order to save humanity.

This is not a controversial take--Frank Herbert specifically said he wrote Dune Messiah because too many people were misinterpreting Paul Atreides as a hero.

I think I could do it, and if there's no penalty for failure I'd definitely give it a go.

Acts 3 and 4 were indeed light on the number of characters, but that was mostly because it was all in that prison. It limited how much they could bring them in I think.

Act 5, though, was filled with all the characters. Every playable character that had been introduced played a big role. We even had that one fairly lengthy cameo from Mona!

The Fontaine portion of the Archon Quest seems to really be speed running you through the playable characters. It feels far too rushed compared to the last three nations. Monstadt was kind of rushed as well, but it was the beginning of the game, so that is to be expected. Did sales dip or something before Fontaine?

I think Fontaine is the longest archon quest we've had yet, so if it feels "rushed," that means there's more stuff packed into it.

If they were really cutting costs on archon quests due to low sales, it would probably be the opposite really. It would feel padded out with slow pacing, less voice acting, and lots of enemy encounters to stretch things out.

We just wanted Luke to still be the noble, proud Jedi hero he was in ROTJ. "I am a Jedi, like my father before me".

I already mentioned this in that other topic defending his portrayal in TLJ...

Basically, you just want Luke to stay cool and awesome forever. The problem, which we saw in the EU, is that it's boring. He becomes this walking deus ex machina that can just solve anything. Sure, it feels good to see Luke be a powerful, heroic space wizard but if he's always like that then there's no way to have interesting conflict or any real character arc.

I'll take the way he was portrayed in TLJ over wish fulfillment Luke any day.

Kokomi and Furina have very different roles. Furina is more like Xingqiu or Yelan than Kokomi. Also where Kokomi is a healer, Furina needs a healer. She drains HP in exchange for a massive buff which gets stronger the more your characters heal.

So don't think having Kokomi means you don't need Furina. In fact the two of them go together really well.

I think the animation and music are both great. The character, on the other hand...

Is it me, or is she maybe the blandest character we've had yet, personality wise? Every other character has things like personal quirks, things they're interested in, a point of view, a backstory... What does Clorinde have? She's badass and she's good at dueling. That's it. And this is after her being featured multiple times in the Archon Quest.

That's not what I was saying though? I was saying that I believe that Schumer does not support Netanyahu. But he also lacks the courage to really stand up for those beliefs. The second part was more important.

Tastes change over time. The reason rock music isn't a big part of the culture is the same reason that jazz and swing music are no longer a big part of the culture. I imagine hip hop will be in a similar state 20 years from now.

I mean, if the democrats ACTUALLY have the courage to use this as an opportunity to call out Netanyahu to his face, I will be pleasantly surprised. It probably doesn't sell as well as pure orange juice. They want to be able to legally lie about what's in it more blatantly so they can make slightly more money.

It's so fucked up, because obviously the corporations will still make plenty of money if they just sell orange juice at a higher price and put out something called "orange citrus mix" with a lower price next to it. They just are greedy to get an extra 2 or 3 percent profit.

And these companies are so bloated that the money to lobby and change regulations so they can lie is probably less than the tiny bit of extra profit they'll make.

We need to find a way to make these companies not so big and powerful.

Still, 500 pounds... My answer is still no. If it was 300 I'd do it, but 500 is too much. Even getting out of bed would be difficult. I don't think it would be worth it unless I also magically had super good mobility for my weight.

Yeah. And I still don't think it's a great movie overall, but the good parts are surprisingly good.

It's as heavy handed as an 18 wheeler, and roughly as subtle and sophisticated.

Actually I was impressed at how much emotional subtlety there was. Also how good the acting was. Maybe it's because other Happy Madison movies have lowered my expectations, but still.

Adam Sandler has been terrible to his family, but they still love him. In a movie like this I would expect everyone to hate him and show this horrible future where he's ruined his life, but actually, he's still pretty lucky. They know how terrible he is, and they don't expect him to ever be a decent person, but they're hoping he will.

His wife doesn't hate him. She wanted to stay with him, but she just couldn't, for obvious reasons. And she still wants him to be a good person.

His dad loves him to the very end, even when Adam is taking him for granted. Man, Henry Winkler's acting was SO good in that one scene just before he dies.

Maybe what surprised me most was Sean Astin's character. I expected him to just be a dorky character who was constantly the butt of the joke. In a more typical Happy Madison, he would be the guy that the love interests is dating until she wises up and realizes she wants to be with Adam.

And when they went to the future, I expected it to be some nightmare scenario where his wife and kid are stuck with this obnoxious guy, who's probably also probably an asshole to help make Adam's character look better. But then it turns out, he's actually a good husband and a great stepfather. Sean Astin did a great job of threading that needle where he's still a dork, but his sincerity and kindness shine through. I found myself thinking he deserves to be happy with Adam's wife and kid.

But Adam's son is still loyal, still on his side, even though we know Adam has been a total shitheel and his stepfather deserves the loyalty more. Not only that, Adam Sandler's character knows that.

That's what makes it so damn heartbreaking. He knows he's getting this love he doesn't deserve from everyone, especially his son. He knows that because of him, everyone is less happy but there's nothing he can do about it. And the subtlety is, it's not this nightmare future. Everyone is going to be fine, even his father had a happy life overall. But Adam missed it, and he let all of them down on varying levels.

This was not a level of emotional subtlety and complexity that I was expecting. At all.

So even though I knew the movie was a dream the whole time, I still found myself crying.

And I've cried every time I watched it.

I'd say it's 10% like, 70% neutral, 20% grrroooooaaannnnn. Also I agree, posting like five times in a row with one meme per post was SUPER annoying.
