Maybe I don't know exactly, but it's going to end up being that the jedi acted in a "morally grey" way that led to people dying and hence Mae's need for revenge. Again, feels familiar.

This is fine. My main complaint is that they seemingly revealed the mystery already, and I really don't care to keep watching. Also I think the idea that the Jedi are actually draconian rule enforcers who don't actually care about people is already well-trod ground.

she's pretty good

actually scratch my earlier post, this was pretty terrible. looking at sgf from the last two years they had much bigger announcements. this one sucked in comparison. It's a slow year industry wide though.

tatum sucked in game one and they ended up winning by 20. they've got the size to take out kyrie. luka's gonna get 30-40 each night but I don't think it'll matter if they can't figure out a way to get more than 9 assists as a team

I usually don't go for nun characters. They're like maid characters. You've seen one, you've seen them all. Despite her bad habit (lol to myself), I think she's pretty interesting. Scientifically speaking, Ries is probably NOT the 4th best Trails character. If this were an actual serious ranking and not just me having fun I would probably put her 5th. All this to say, Ries is good, in large part because Kevin is also good, and their backstories are closely intertwined. But we see enough of Ries on her own in Azure to warrant her placement here, in my opinion.

When this dude showed up in SC, I legit thought he walked in from a different game. At first, I did NOT like this guy. Super obviously suspicious and it's hard to be a crossbow-main. Has there ever been a cool character whose main weapon is a crossbow? Not until Kevin. By the end of SC, he reveals himself as one of the more complex and likable characters. By the end of 3rd, he comes out as the most tragic Trails character, which in turn makes him the one you most want to see develop and succeed. Play 3rd if you haven't - they should really find a way to get this on Switch or something for the console heads.

2 . Estelle Bright

Oh, I'm sorry. Predictable list much? It's like when I made my "top 100 JRPG list" and the top three were Suikoden 2, FF6 and CT. Sometimes you have to go chalk. Estelle in FC and SC is one of the best all around leads in a JRPG. Unlike Lloyd, there's a depth to her beyond the goody-goody cliches she sometimes spews. She's not perfect - the games give her plenty of opportunities to fail, question her actions, and hesitate. Normally, the game does a good job of showing how those instances impact her in the future. Certainly, her vulnerability sets her apart from Rean and Lloyd, who are boringly perfect (even when Rean screws up bigtime, it's never actually his fault). Who knew that being able to show off a wide range of emotions is a good thing when trying to make sympathetic characters.

it's the best videogame ending of all time and one of the most impactful and artistic expressions of grief and joy that has ever been created. I find it to be truly life affirming and I legit know that it has literally saved lives.

7 . Olivier

Taking "spoony bard" to a whole higher level, Olivier Lenheim is the fun-loving pansexual personal pan flutist star of the show. He's also the surprise prince of Erebonia. I get the feeling he has his detractors, but I can't imagine me actually finishing FC if not for this dude. Once he shows up, the game goes from being boring to relaxing, which is how Trails should be. Post SC, he's good in Zero and kind of whatever in CS. I'm glad he continues to exist, but I'm not super sold on the Schera pairing. CS4 ending with a wedding is great, but you can't tie down Olivier unless he's into that.

6 . Fie Claussel

I'll never forgive the character designers for giving her long hair and such prominent whale tail in her CS3 and 4 design, but other than that Fie's the best OG Class VII-er. She's definitely the star of CS1 and 2 at least: from her mysterious past to her rivalry with Laura, to her eventual coming out as kind of a nerd. She also seems to exist slightly outside of the whole "this character exists only as a Rean love interest" paradigm - at least in CS1 and 2 this is couched as a kind of "search for family" that makes sense to her character. What I'm trying to say is that she feels more like her own realized person than the others.

5 . Altina Orion

Say what you will about CS3 and 4, but they definitely did a good job with Altina. I could do without the weird ogling scene in CS2, but she's fine there too. However, in CS3 and 4, Altina emerges as a surprising emotional core. I actually cared about her well-being so much that I could put aside a lot of the Great Twilight nonsense. Out of the series's "adopted problem children" (i.e. Renne, KeA, & Altina), Altina is the best version of this.

These are all really good characters for what they are except for Meekins. Gant is top tier in terms of culprits.

I played an hour or two before I got distracted by other things and never got back to it

It is the greatest video game of all time with the least amount of fun. An awesome experience I will never do again. Until DS2 I guess, but I honestly might just youtube the cutscenes this time around.

In all the hustle and bustle of The Great Twilight and civil war and Mecha-Mishy, we can forget that our beloved Crow was a bona fide terrorist. He's funny, he's a bit of a scamp, and oh yeah, I guess he's a murderer? I don't actually remember if the ILF actually killed anybody or if they just blew stuff up. Sure, it was to resist Osborne, but I'm not sure that lets you off the hook, Crow! You're not in the clear for that whole embarassing "Azure Siegfried" phase either. I guess it's a Sailor Moon reference to when Tuxedo Mask was mind controlled but that was just embarassing my dude.

8 . Loewe, aka Lorence, aka Leonhardt the Bladelord

Having the most iconic boss battle in the series will get you far on this list. If you're playing along at home, "OP hero" equals bad. "OP antagonist" equals ok (unless you're McBurn). Loewe died a long time ago canonically and people still can't shut up about Joshua's big bro from Hamel. If he was so tough he should've killed Agate and saved us from the misery of Titagate. Or he could've killed Ragnard the dragon. Or he should've killed us! (which he did, quite a few times on hard mode at least).

Who wouldn't want to live in generic Middle Earth where the mayor is an 800 year old pre-teen?

If you can't handle to bustle of Crossbell, why not try out one of its rural suburbs?

A bit cold perhaps, but I love me some hot springs.

7 - Legram, Erebonia
Small city, full of mist. It's like Inaba but less fun. Bonus haunted castle!

I've always dreamed of living in a castle city. I prefer this over Heimdallr. Too soviet.

Federer losing to Djokovic in the 2019 Wimbledon men's final. The first final's with the new 5th set rules. Federer having two championship points on his serve and blowing it. Fed's storybook ending was denied and Djokovic is going on to get all the records. It haunts me to this day.
