A roguelite is a roguelike with incremental progression between runs. Majoras Mask has no roguelike elements, in fact the whole point of the game is that every loop is the exact same

Bruh, each day/loop is wildly different. In fact MM, goes beyond with unlocking different biomes and even a horse. No rougelite has ever taken it that far... not even Hades.

Imagine a rougelite with an Elden Ring sized world again. The indie devs should continue what they do with the genre, but it would be awesome to see a truly massive rougelite again.

Dying in Majoras mask is not restarting from the beginning. Youre just naming normal video game concepts like progress and restarting after you die. These arent used the way they are in a rogue lite. Mini games also dont make a game a rogue lite.

But you're not completely restarting from the beginning, you're restarting while retaining all your masks, sword/shield upgrades, learned songs, hearts, magic guage, and more from the runs before. Hence my argument that it's the first roguelite.

You dont restart when you die, and the world is static and unchanging. There arent runs that are different each time you rewind either.

Not sure if you played the game before, but you literally restart right from the beginning after you die and exhaust all your hearts and bottled fairies or run out of time.

Also there are randomized elements including Archery, bombchu racing, mailman routes, and there's a randomized part in the Wedding Mask quest.

Tetris may not have a randomized map, but what keeps it from being a roguelite is its lack of meta progression.

Edit: actually, nvm. The pieces can be viewed as lives and thus you have a progression system. Tetris is a roguelite.

What's your argument? Majora's Mask has a meta progression with hearts/magic guage/powers/equipment upgrades.

A lot of people are making the argument that a Roguelite needs to have a random map which I disagree:

1. Vampire Survivors
2. Death Must Die
3. 20 Minutes till Dawn

Are all Roguelites but don't have random maps.

Not the first. But I admit I never thought of it as a roguelite.

I mean, you have to stretch the definition a bit, but it essentially does have some of the core elements.

It's the first, unless you can name otherwise.

Also, I'd like to see devs try to make massive roguelite again. Hades was definitely close, but it would be amazing to see an Elden Ring sized roguelite.

Lol i might've played this way back in the day... can you unlock persistent upgrades in this game? If not, then it doesn't qualify.

There will come a day where rougelites aren't just indie games anymore, and will be set in a massive world with an incredible set of characters and story. Majora's Mask started it all, and Hades(II) is carrying the genre forward.

My favorite local place jacked its minimum delivery order to 25 bucks. That's not including the delivery fee or the sales tax. I have trouble filling an order for 1 person that hits that amount without buying way more than I need.

Have you considered not ordering delivery then and just ordering take out and picking up the order yourself?

my ex didnt work and my lawyer said if i was divorcing her that the court would order me to maintain her standard of living which was basically open as many credit cards as i want and let my spouse figure out how to pay for them. so shes pretty much had unfettered access to my bank account to pay her dozen credit cards, car payment, etc. more than half of my income goes to her.

let me put it this way lol
when i pulled out of the court house parking garage, it was cash only
i had to walk 5 blocks to an ATM to get cash, only to find out she's overdrafted my account
so i had to call my mom to wire me money while i cried on the street corner

Oof that's brutal... she wiped you clean and will take you to the cleaners again during settlement. On the bright side hopefully you didn't have kids.
