Yeah Lyn has been popular from the jump. She was literally babby's first waifu for western FE fans and her popularity has always wildly outpaced her significance in game.

I have to imagine that training Lyn enough for her to be able to do any meaningful chip damage costs more turns than her chip would save.

On Average Lyn needs to be 20/10 before she does even a single point of damage to the final boss.

Athos with an Angelic Robe and healing support guarantees a final boss kill on his own. Chip is functionally useless and if you really need it Hector is considerably better for it.

Lyn with max strength and max speed, which even at 20/20 is unlikely, hits the final boss on normal mode for 8x2 damage per combat. The boss has 120 health.

That is the Sol Katti's best case scenario against the one enemy it actually gets effective damage on. Against anyone else the Sol Katti is a Silver Sword with -1 might and 6 more weight. So you are tanking your doubling ability and your avoid by using it instead of a simple Silver Sword.

It is genuinely one of the worst weapons in the franchise.

The type of logia doesn't matter, they all can do it. Katakuri needed observation haki to do it cause he's not a logia, so he needed haki to replicate something that all logias (save for BB) can just do all on their own without too much effort cause he was trying to mimic them. Also, naturally forming ice can shift too. That's why it's not too crazy of a stretch for Aokiji to do it even though his element is more solid than all the others.

I was moreso referring to Crocodile. He says logias can just shift their bodies. If they're trained up enough then they can react instantaneously based on touch. So they don't necessarily need haki to predict the blow, they can just look and anticipate it.

If he didn't use his powers then we'd see blood and guts coming from that hole instead of ice. It was a scene highlighting the classic trope where a dude pretends to take a hit just so he can grab and incapacitate the weapon; you see the spear come through his back then the scene flips to his front and see it was really a ice hole the whole time and he was fine.

And I don't think observation haki was even necessary to pull that off. Aokiji is standing in front of the guy, there's only a single way he can be attacked with the way WB was holding the weapon. It doesn't take future vision or any exemplary detective skills to figure out where the weapon was going to be thrust in relation to Aokiji's body. We had an arc that took place not too long before Mareineford where the logia antagonist examined multiple times that if you see a hit coming you can just shift your logia body around and the attack misses.

He didn't no-sell a stab in the heart, and Aokiji has Observation Haki as well (it's stated to be a power ''every'' Vice Admiral and up has).

The Whitebeard they fought was old, sick, had a debilitating wound and was facing a whole army himself. Marines, officers, vice admirals, admirals, Pacifista, everything they had. He is repeatedly called the strongest man in the world, the most dangerous man alive. Everyone who damages him takes pieces when he is literally fighting the entire navy all at once while suffering major health issues. He "didn't get the greatest showing?" He stood a chance of beating all the marines on his own. Akainu gets smashed to bits and Whitebeard almost killed him.
