TL;DR: I uploaded a video to youtube, youtube decided it was a short, I don't want it to be a short, how do I make it a regular video?

Long version:

A friend of mine used an AI tool to turn some lyrics into a song. Since I have a big bucket of song lyrics and no money to hire a band, I decided to give it a shot.
After a few attempts, I came up with something I found acceptable, and decided to upload it to youtube to to get some feedback. Since I had never uploaded a video to youtube before, I had a bit of a time with all the checkboxes and da kine, but I got it up.

The surprise came when I tried to take a look at it, and my creator's menu said I didn't have any videos. After trying various things to see where I had screwed up, I randomly clicked 'shorts' and there it was. I hadn't seen anything for 'make this a short' or 'not a short', it seems like youtube just decided.

I don't like shorts. I don't want what will probably be the only video I ever upload to be a short. Quick searches of google were unhelpful. Before I begin a delve into the abyss known as reddit, I thought I'd ask here, to see if anyone had any experience with this sort of thing.

While we all know that since the beginning of time Man has yearned to destroy the sun, the technology isn't there. Yet.

For now...

I went with "Just end it", but I do vaguely feel like Winter time would be better. I have various interaction with Japanese time, and 14 hours difference is more convenient than 13 hours. That's an entirely selfish reason, so I don't feel strongly about it.

I'm pretty sure most people hate DST, and the main problem is inertia and people can't agree on how to end it.

So let's see where people are on this. Summer time? Winter time? Keep DST for some reason I can't fathom?

Do you feel strongly about this?

After posting this topic, I'm going to get some sleep, so don't expect a lot of interaction from me for the first few hours.

I don't care what someone's actual age is, if a man or woman doing porn looks like they're literally 12 or 13 and is unofficially supposed to be underage in the video, it's serving the same purpose as child porn. Only pedophiles would be interested in watching that.

So, what you're advocating for here is what's known as 'thought crime', where actually doing a thing isn't crime enough, just thinking about it is also criminalized.

This does nothing to stop crime, indeed it only makes more crime, by expanding the scope without being a solution.

This raises the question of, do you want to protect children, or do you want to punish people for not conforming to your standard of 'normal' well enough?

If you cheered Hans Gruber(Grueber?) falling to his death, does that make you a snuff film aficionado? I would say no, because you know Die Hard isn't real, and that no real person really died.

So how is it that you can separate fiction from reality in this case, but not in the other? Just because violence is 'normal' and sex is 'icky'?
Do you think people watching adult materials somehow lose the capacity to tell what costumes and makeup are?

Consider if that kind of standard makes sense in any other aspect of life. Should you be called a reckless driver if you watch a Fast and Furious movie? Should you be called an astronaut if you watch Apollo 13?

So why is this different?

This is true. The people who are going to do that sort of thing are going to do that sort of thing.
But you're missing out on a whole other class of people; those who might do that sort of thing. There is no bright line between maladjusted and malefactor, and some people can go either way. Your experience seems to have been with people who already crossed the line. What about those who haven't?

Feelings often lead one away from the truth of the matter.

So what's your better solution? If you have one, I'm keen to hear it.

Edit: Actually, what part of what I said seems wrong to you, and why? This seems like the obvious course to me, but if you have some insight as to why it shouldn't be, I'm open to changing my mind.
