I mean, admittedly, the savvy challenge was rough, since you had no word list and the numbers were designed to fool the players.

Maybe I'm armchair quarterbacking this, but as soon as I started seeing numbers written out among the letters I knew what the puzzle was.

Heck, I'm gonna go out and say it, I think Jelinsky might just be THE worst Survivor player of all time. I usually hear names like Wendy Jo or Amazon Janet thrown out for that title, but they were just kinda generically bad players who weren't good at anything. This kid was so aggressively terrible at every single aspect of the game and at every possible turn deliberately said and did the opposite of what good Survivor gameplay dictates, and then unironically tried to defend it all, actually believing it was good gameplay. One of the most deserving first boots ever and the edit absolutely massacring him at every turn made this such an enjoyable night of Survivor.

By that logic there are probably dozens of games we should be voting for over Big Rigs, which has virtually 0 offensive content. Even so, most people clearly aren't necessarily voting for what they think are the four worst games ever made, but four games that are infamous for their poor quality.

This is how I feel too. I've purchased a lot of GameCube and (3)DS games over the past year or so and the market just boggles my mind.

It made perfect sense to have that in the gen between 3 and 4. I suppose you could have had Johto in gen 9 with the same premise. But also Let's Go 100% only exists because of Pokemon GO and trying to sell to that fanbase so it's a bit of an odd one out.

Yes. I've always kind of thought of it as a different thing because it's more like a remake of a remake, and the gameplay is more akin to GO than to the rest of the main series, plus it doesn't use the same naming pattern as the core remakes. If we ever see any more Let's Go games then we can start analyzing it as part of a pattern but for now I deliberately ignore it.

I've played E.T. on actual hardware. It's not a good game, but I've played worse on Atari.

I've heard a lot of people say the same thing, that it's still a bad game but far from the worst thing even on its own system. I still think that the crash being largely attributed to it, fair or not, gets it on the Rushmore.

I didn't get the impression at all that it's going to be set entirely in Lumiose City. That'll probably just be the main hub but I'm sure there will be other places.

Anyway, as a Gen 6 fan, it was pretty awesome seeing Legends 2 be Kalos-based when literally everyone thought it would be Johto or Unova (even though I am also a big Gen 2 fan), AND essentially getting the long-lamented Pokemon Z in one fell swoop.

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

I guess I need to explain the last one. Castlevania II is definitely not in the bottom 4 games ever made. Hell, it's not even in the bottom 100 games ever made. But for an early game in such a beloved franchise to be frustrating enough to warrant spawning perhaps the most popular webseries dedicated to bad games is enough to me to throw out a nod to it.

Pikachu - Look, I know we're sick of seeing Pokemon on these things but I think Pikachu has one of the most fascinating Contest Histories of any character. First two years he looks like a complete doofus. Then mid-00s Pokemon hate kicks into full gear and he disappears completely for three years. He returns in 2007 and I take a look at the bracket and think, "You know what? Pokemon hate is pretty much done, and he's in a pretty good position here... I'm gonna send him to the Sweet Sixteen!" And dammit I called it. He goes on a repeat tour the very next year, taking down defending champ L-Block in the process in a match that I once again called, and has since become a serious threat in these things and on any given Sunday is even a legitimate upset pick against some of the weaker Noble Niners like Sonic and Mega Man. That's a turnaround worth celebrating.

Bowser - Though 3- and 4-way matches seem to be a bit of an Achilles' heel for him, in 1v1s you'd be hard-pressed to find a more consistent high-midcarder than Bowser. With the exception of the afformentioned multi-way contests, he's looked impressive in almost every match he's been in, even in losses. He's got a very strong W-L record that includes victories over other strong midcarders like Sora, Kirby and Ryu, and he's even given N9ers Snake and Crono a bit of a scare at times.

Auron - Like Bowser, Auron is a high-midcarder with an impressive W-L record who you can consistently count on to win at least 1 or 2 matches per year and is a solid pick to go on a deep run in a balanced bracket. He may not even be the strongest non-Cloud/Sephy FF character (if it wasn't Tifa before, it probably is now), he has, for so long, been an extremely strong character whose perennial presence in the contest has never really seen any fatigue the way other characters of similar strength often find. He's certainly beatable, but if you're a Ganondorf/Kirby/Ryu/Luigi/Squall/etc-tier character looking for a chance to take on a N9er, having Auron in your division should make you at least a little nervous.

Mega Man X - I'm pretty sure the only reason MMX isn't amongst the Noble 9 (thus making them the Terrific Ten) is because he was excluded from the first few contests due to CJayC mistakenly believing him and Mega Man to be the same character (a fair mistake for someone who isn't familiar with the series). Since he debuted he has consistently been one of the most powerful near-elites/high midcarders capable of taking down the vast majority of the field with ease and going toe-to-toe with Noble Niners and other near-elites. He's put up extremely impressive numbers against Mario, Crono, and even Link, and tried his best to stave off the juggernaut that was Draven.

Alright, let me dig up my write-up after beating it from... three years ago, man time flies.

Sooo, based on how this board had spoken of this game in the past, I was expecting a masterpiece. I... didn't get that. I sure do have a lot of thoughts, but let's start with the good. I love how this was clearly a throwback to N64/PSX/Game Cube/PS2 era 3D platformers. The style, level design, characters, even animation were all reminiscent of those times, while looking just crisp enough to be on new platforms. The level design was great. Honestly, it reminded me a lot of Super Mario Sunshine (and I don't just mean the Time Warp levels, but the influence is particularly blatant in those), and, despite my gripes with the game that I will get to, I will probably recommend this to a friend who really, really loves that game. The music was fantastic. As a music lover, this is always a huge plus for me in any game I play, but particularly in platformers it seems to affect me the most. The humor was spot-on. It wasn't laugh-your-ass-off hilarious or anything, but I really appreciate when a game (or really any piece of media, but especially a game) can so pointedly and deliberately not take itself seriously. The characters, dialogue, and scenarios were so ridiculous that the game didn't just serve as a throwback to early 3D platformers; it was practically a parody of them. Mustache Girl, The Snatcher, DJ Grooves and The Conductor were all great, memorable characters.

And now for the bad. The first time I tried to play this game, over a year ago, I started to feel sick very early on (after just five hourglasses). I didn't really think the game was the cause, but because of an almost Pavlov-like reaction, I didn't go back to it. I restarted for this run through and once again, I started to feel sick very quickly. This time I figured it was the game, so my first thought was to turn down the brightness, which helped. So yeah, I had to turn down the game's default brightness to play it without getting sick. Great start. Technically, the game was a mess. The camera sucked. I have no idea how you can mess up a free-roaming camera on a 3D platformer in 2017, but they friggin' did it. The physics, specifically Hat Girl's interactions with objects, terrain, and enemies, were weird. It made it difficult for me to pull off the type of precise acrobatic maneuvers that I'm used to pulling off in, say, a 3D Mario game. These two things combined led to a lot of deaths that I really didn't feel were my fault. Lots of graphical glitches too. This, combined with the bad camera and wonky physics, made for an experience that felt very unpolished. Was that intentional, being a throwback to older games? If so, I didn't like it. A lot of the hourglasses were way too long for just a single hourglass. Murder on the Owl Express comes to mind (even though I loved it), but the biggest offender was the Alpine Skyline, which was just way too big and way too long for its own good. The Disease Has Spread was particularly annoying, basically having to go through the whole giant level all over again for one more hourglass. Oh, and in that level, it didn't autosave after every hourglass like it had done the entire game up until that point. You had to exit the level in order to save. This wasn't made clear to me and I shut the game off after getting two of them, and came back to find the level untouched. This frustrated me so badly that I put the game down for a week. Real nice.

Overall, while I'm glad I played it, I was a bit disappointed and didn't get the experienced I expected and hoped for going in. I can absolutely see what they were going for. There's something there, and even as it is there was plenty of good, but there were just too many flaws and the end result was a game that just didn't quite click as well as it could have. If they had just ironed out the creases, I think this really could have been an all-time stellar 3D platformer. Instead, it's just okay.
