I doubt too many remember Redneck Rampage, but Commander Keen I remember being fairly popular. These games were circa early 90's. Also StarGoose. Holy shit StarGoose was such a good game as well.

Yeah, there a lot of MM1 levels that cannot be beaten because of glitches that were patched out.

What are the hardest levels for the non-SMW games?
I saw a video of a level called Beast Needle a few weeks ago and it was crazy. It was just loads of precision platforming through spikes in SMB1.

There are rom hacks that are pretty hard. All of the Grand Poo Worlds, kaizo mario, plenty of good ones. Check out BarbarousKing or GrandPooBear, they will show you some hard mario levels
