I'm considering it. I don't have a working PC at the moment.
A system that can run steam and Xbox games natively is appealing. Also full access to game pass.
It had my attention, even if the price in Canada is fucking stupid.

I've just moved into my first home (bought an apartment/condo) and it's wired for coax.
Our modem supports coax just fine, and is MoCa capable.

Now it seems that 1 coax port in the place works, but the other 2 do not. I have a suspicion that this is a main port/supplementary port issue.

IE the port in the living room is the primary connected port, and the other 2 simply connect to it but not to the main line.

When I set the modem up on that connector it works perfectly, but will not work at all on the other two. I'd really like to set our machines up for hardline (up to 750gbps) instead of wifi (maxing at about 100gbps).

Is a MoCa adapter my only option outside of an electrician? I don't want to spend $100+ if it won't work.
And do I need 2 MoCa boxes, or just 1 since my modem is MoCa capable?

Not yet.
I'm dreading when I have to cut contact with my sister, because I know she voted Trump. I won't be able to face her knowing she voted for him when my niece needs $10,000+/month in government assisted healthcare.

My niece is likely going to die because of Trump and I can't look at my sister or her husband knowing this.

Not to mention that one of the core driving concepts behind the game is Diversity in all things.
At every turn the game is yelling at you "diversity breeds success!" and yet some people take that to mean "I'll just have 3 or 4 of one class and just now everything down!"

Every single turn based RPG ever has required you to have a varied team. Even fucking Pokemon.

The movies are set in a time when the force had been imbalanced (in favor of the Light) for a long time, and both Jedi and Sith were fading into obscurity.

Realistically it's because Lucas was incapable of creating a work that didn't have numerous plot holes.

The prairies get a lot of wind and snow, but manageable.

Politically, Ontario and BC would fit people fleeing Trump best.

TBH as far as CoL goes Sask/Manitoba small towns would fit people best.
Anyone thinking of moving to Vancouver, Ottawa, or the Mississauga area will be seriously disillusioned when they start looking at rental/housing costs.

If anyone plans to move to Vancouver, expect 2-4 room mates tbh.

It confirms that at least some children were fed to the creature.

there are many many many more homes than there are people, the problem is investor greed not letting people live in them.
And adding hundred of thousands of additional people per year doesn't make those homes any more available.
All it does is drive up demand for what currently is available, and make the pricing issue even worse.

Immigration isn't the only (or even the biggest) factor when it comes to housing and housing cost issues. But it is a factor, and one we can control while we focus on the others.

As an American that moved to Canada almost 20 years ago: good.
We have a housing and rental crisis on our hands. Have had for many years. We need to stop adding people into this mess until we actually have it figured out.

Add the cost of living crisis onto that, and we're drowning.

TopicWhy do so many people think Canadians pay exorbitant income tax?
meestermj
10/24/24 10:44:50 AM

realnifty1 posted...
Both Canada and US apply a standard deduction, but your math only does it for Canada.
Fixed example: Take $40k/yr.
Both US and Canada have roughly a 15k standard deduction for single filers, making taxable income 25k
In Canada you would pay taxes on 25k at 15%. A total of $3,750.
In the US you would pay 10% of 12k ($1200) and 12% of 13k ($1,560), a total of $2,760
Canadian effective tax rate on $40k is 9.375%
US effective tax rate on $40k is 6.9%

Not a huge difference, just about $80 a month, but it is strange that the Canadian system appears to be more regressive against low income earners than the US but definitely eases up as you grow.
That was my mistake. In Canada the 15k is listed as a tax exemption, when I searched that for the US I didn't find anything.

Either way, both countries are payibg almost the same in taxes. The distribution of taxed funds is the primary difference.

TopicWhy do so many people think Canadians pay exorbitant income tax?
meestermj

This is such a massive misconception from both Canadians and Americans.

For anyone making under $150k/year there is a 2-3% or lower difference in each bracket between Canadian and US income tax.
And in fact for anyone making $15k or less you pay more in the USA.
The primary difference between countries is the way taxes are spent.
(I've not included both provincial or state income tax brackets as they vary wildly, and there's just too much data to fit here. Provincial income tax ranges from 5%-15% almost across the board.
7 states have no state income taxes. The rest range from 2-15% rather wildly)
Canada:
Under $15k/yr is tax free
$15k-55k/yr is 15%
$56k-111k is 20.5%
$111k-173k is 26%

USA:
$0-12k/yr is 10%
$12-48k/yr is 12%
$48k-103k/yr is 22%
$103k-197k/yr is 24%

Edit:
An example. Take $40k/yr.

In Canada you would pay taxes on 25k of that at 15%. A total of $3,750.
In the US you would pay 10% of 12k ($1200) and 12% of 28k ($3,360), a total of $4,560 .

My only real complaint is that it feels like you're forced to grind after a certain point.
My party has been either at the same level as enemies, or a couple below since Brilehaven.
At times I was a full 10 levels below bosses.

I've not skipped any content, not avoided any fights, and have done every request and bounty.
I think exp needs a 10-20% across the board buff from Brilehaven on.
