Went down a deep dive and found a reddit topic (probably not postable) explaining the situation. Pretty wild, it was a relatively recent change in the 2020s before being implemented across the board. Guess it's one of those things that used to be so commonplace you don't even think about it when using, until you stop to think about it.

I never thought about it before but this might actually count, considering I remember being shocked as a teen when I was told envy isn't a girl, and fma being my first non pokemon cartoony animes.

The joker is some kinda... joker virus that you can infect another person with, and they'll turn crazy and become the joker? Even batman beyond return of said joker handled this concept somewhat better little bit.

So joker is not the result of a dude having some couple of bad days and going crazy? It's a virus that can infect anyone, like how the carnage symbiote can infect anyone and turn them into a venom?

You know what, I really didn't appreciate this movie in 2008 and how great it really is. This movie changed everything. The status quo of superhero movies had literally been exactly the same way for years, decades, and this movie changed everything.

I was not ready for it in 2008, but looking back it really is amazing how it basically did everything previous superhero movies dragged out or skeetered around; the hero immediately reveals his secret identity, the hero actually... kinda straight up kills the villain, and most importantly they full embrace color and wacky costumes, none of that xmen black jumpsuits thing.

Honestly I think older people are more likely to give out info than younger ones who grew up with social media.

Because we grew up in an era where phone books gave out your name, address and phone number and data wasnt protected. Hell my drivers license number was my social security number in my state. There was no protection whatsoever and we live in a world where you just expect all of your info is out there.

That equifax breach that leaked all the info for like 150 million people of America got me a few years back and had nothing to do with me. It was my info from my job from the state university I work at that was housed on some other server that was part of the breach. I have no control over shit like that.

You can look up peoples houses through the county assessor office and see how may they paid for it, what their taxes are and so on. Its always been public info but mow its all online even in remote bumfuck areas like mine. You can look up peoples names through state court sites and see any tickets or court cases on their record.

Your life is out there in so many aspects. So at a certain point people just dont care.

Yeah I remember as a kid thinking phone books were absolutely wild, couldn't believe they were real. I think I have a memory of watching Terminator 1 which was what really solidified for me how ridiculous that concept of putting your info in a citywide distributed phone book was.

Yeah tc I had the same reaction a few months back when I realized this, how the movie just came and went. As someone who hadn't caught up on Cobra Kai in years I was still super excited at the prospect of seeing Ralph Macciio and Jackie Chan together in a KK movie.

The mostly negative reaction I've seen after-the-fact made me lose interest in finding it.

If I see it on Netflix I might check it out sometime. After I finished watching CK of course, which I'm saving for the big R next year.

Age verification and the internet changing for the worse is here to stay... The general populace doesn't even give a second thought to saying yes to everything, yes to sharing their data, their ID, just absolutely everything.

I mean... is this a result of a generation having grown up on social media? Are the random few millenials who grew up on the "don't share your personal details on the Internet" mentality that few and far between?

Just Trying to rationalize or even just understand why the general landscape of the internet being enshitified so badly has become so accepted by the population. Is it because they just use the internet for instagram and tiktok so it doesn't really make a difference?

Personally, I don't know why my previous topic purged but I still think it's strange that no people are talking about how bewildering it is that the remake made over a billion dollars, I had no idea it was gonna be that massively successful.

Even adjusted for inflation it made like, 10 times the original. And it was seemingly made for the same amount of money as the original, so that kinda... peeves me off, how live action seems to be cheaper than traditional gorgeous animation.

I just... I don't get it.

I always liked the parts with Lilo and Nani. I thought the dumb alien chase stuff took away from what was a really good idea that I wanted to see more of.

This has been a common sentiment for a lot of us online, I've noticed.

A movie about an older sister (who had hopes and dreams of her own) being forced into a difficult situation of trying to take care of herself, her little sister, finding a job, etc would actually make for a good movie all its own.

And that scene with Lilo in the beginning of the movie still actually gets to me, it's a quiet and powerful moment. Honestly, while teen me didn't really care for the movie back then as I was in that awkward "outgrown disney teen phase" revisiting the movie in the past decade really made me find an appreciation for that bit, even if I'm indifferent to the rest of the movie.

So something to note here-- Aaron is pretty goofy and likeable but awkward in some ways, so he's trying to be nice and be friends with Ari since she's going to be in their neighboring dorm at college, so I don't know that it's really supposed to be a 'pick up line' exactly. They're definitely going to be chem testing these two as they build out the teen landscape for Days over the coming months.

It's also basically unheard of in soaps to mention a specific product or service by name unless it's a product placement, promotion, or a property that the network owns, so this is all the more unusual. In another recent episode, Aaron's best friend (and now college roommate) Tate mentioned he was bringing his Switch to college and offered his PlayStation to his little sister to try and make her feel better. Again, very strange in Soap Land!

Ah that must be what I meant, the art style. Besides the lame use of that... cgi type animation, it's kinda shameful that the studio synonymous with literally the greatest animation of all time would deliver this to us.

I already somewhat made my peace with 2d animation never gracing the movie theaters ever again, but to not even use it for the tv landscape is wild.

When I first started watching I thought this was gonna be the Sky High show we'd been clamoring for back in the 2000s and to lesser extent 2010s, except darker and perhaps not as fun/witty
