Also not *city-building*, but if you liked those old school management games like Theme Hospital and Rollercoaster Tycoon you should check out Two Point Hospital, Two Point Campus, Parkitect and Megaquarium.

Never played Caesar 3, but Pharaoh is awesome. The remaster is basically a graphical update which retains the original art style and all the original obnoxious city planning idiosyncrasies.

I tried Children of the Nile for a little bit, it gives similar vibes but is a little simpler I think.

You might like the Anno series, though it has a bigger emphasis on managing supply chains to advance. In some games it's not so bad but the latest (and best one) kicks my ass hard.

The Tropico series is fun too. Only stick to the even number games though. 2 is dated but works well on modern systems and has a totally different setting and gameplay focus - you're a pirate king on a pirate island and you have to build your settlements around the concept of keeping your servant labor scared and compliant while at the same time making your pirates feel free and rowdy and wild

I can't choose. Some are pretty meaningless to me (I don't care to see howbsomeone cares about me and I don't need a waypoint if I have GPS navigation).

But unlimited fuel / car never breaking down, and fast travel... those are both really useful

i played a few hundred hours of gta 4 online, but never gta 5 online, oddly enough.

4 was hacked to shit so i just assumed 5 would be really bad too but it sounds like i missed out

5 Online was a ridiculously complex experience. When it launched originally, about a month or two after 5 came out, it was a little more basic - you could buy garages, buy apartments/houses, modify cars, but most of the money and experience earning activities were instanced matchmaking things (ranging from PvP death match to car races to PvE missions like in the main game).

But they've added so frigging much now. There are heists that comprise multiple planning missions culminating in the actual heists, all sorts of businesses to buy and operate (like an arcade and you can buy more arcade machines that you can actually play), a submarine with cruise missiles and submarine dock and helipad, a night club, you can buy a hangar for storing and modifying aircraft and run smuggling operations out of it, you can run drug and money counterfeiting operations, a chop shop, an underground gun smuggling ring.

Many of these businesses also come with their own special operations centers that you can drive around and run more missions out of.

And a lot of the stuff has splashed out from the instanced content to open world content, so you can steal someone's car as they're trying to deliver it to a seller or destroy someone's helicopter as they're trying to drop off stolen medicine.

It is absurdly well developed and fun with friends in closed sessions but good luck in the public world.

Last time I played there'd be some modder or other who would spam a cash service message and then crash your game. And 98% of the time if you try to report a modder, their mod intercepts the hacking message and you die and then the game crashes.

Man this has been a surreal experience. There weren't any real changes since Sunday, I went through the whole range of emotions and said a lot of things I wanted to say to her and have just been sitting here for the majority of each day. At some point I started having these naive thoughts that maybe she would actually end up recovering somehow just because her condition wasn't really worsening.

Today though the catheter bag has gone from the same yellow it's been in to a cranberry red color so I know it's getting worse.

I'm also confused by how it's all playing out, she hasn't eaten or had any water in over a week now and that just seems unreal.

I feel like a lover lol I've been so spoiled with modern MMOs that even in RS3 I never took the time to really learn the new mechanics. I know it's probably easier in 3 than OS but I still feel dumb and overwhelmed with it all

I always try to claim free games where I can. I even just recently added World of Warships to my Steam account just so I could get a paid DLC that was being given away free.

I was always curious about gear switching in RS (and it is probably different from OS and 3). Like do you just carry a second set of gear with you and manually click each one to switch over? Or are there hotkey's like in other games.

My big dream is basically Witcher 3 but in the Supernatural universe. Driving a classic car around between cities, hunting things, making demon traps, exorcising demons.

Maybe the main character would be one of the other Yellow Eyed Demon-touched kids (now a young adult) who is getting into the world of hunting. You could use traditional weapons and equipment to forego your demon blood powers. Using the demon blood powers would require certain sacrifices though (for instance, maybe instead of exorcising a demon you consume the blood of the possessed person instead).

And of course there would be classic difficult decisions to make - do you kill a hunter to save a family of werewolves that the evidence suggests hasn't killed anyone? And if you do, maybe one of them DOES go rogue and give in to the lust for human flesh and you end up having to put him down several hours later.

I mean the whole universe is great for a game. Maybe you start out with some dumb shack where you can only store a minimal amount of supplies, but at some point you can defeat a den of vampires to claim some larger house. Maybe you can sell your hunting trophies if you need cash for supplies, or display them in your car and house as decorations.
