Actually, this might be extremely effective. "Flood the zone" is the current GOP tactic. Produce so much shit that everyone gets exhausted trying to deal with it all. The same tactic could be used against Trump. Insults really get into his head. If someone insults him, he has to insult them back. So just keep insulting him. Over and over. Make him waste the entire day responding to insults. Day after day. Week after week. Make it so he has no time to think about anything else.

Neat write-up. I don't understand most of the technical side of music, so this was informative in general -- as well as being a good overview of Shapiro's latest bullshit. If you wrote a Part 2, I would read it.

I was circumcised as an infant, and I wish I were still uncircumcised. There was zero reason for my parents to do it. Just because we're in the USA and "it's what people do."

If you leave your son uncircumcised and he wants to do it later in life, he'll always have the opportunity. But if you circumcise him and he grows up, like me, to dislike it, then you will have denied him the ability to make this choice about his own body.

I also wouldn't be surprised if it leads to some kind of subconscious trauma. You're a brand new person, and one of the first things you experience is the pain of genital surgery? Not a great introduction to life. Must feel exponentially more intense for an infant, as well.

Once the economy is destroyed, they can swoop in and buy up the broken pieces. They'll lose money in the short term, but not enough to really matter. In the long term, they'll consolidate enough power to rule as kings. Y'know, the whole Dark Enlightenment shtick.

I guess it's a good thing that I've never been officially diagnosed. One of my partners was looking into it for herself, since she also suspects she's on the spectrum, but decided it's probably better to not have any paperwork for this administration to weaponize.

We really need to find a way to counteract tribalism. The mindset that "everyone has to be normal, and my group is the benchmark for normal" has been poisoning society for centuries.

A sizeable percentage are tourists. And tourists tend to have poor sidewalk etiquette, so not only are there more people in Times Square, but the sidewalks are more congested.

Broadway plays are a mixed bag. Can be great. Can be terrible. But they're almost always overpriced. If I'm going to a show, I'd rather see an opera at the Met. Bigger spectacle. Better productions on average. Cheaper tickets.

It's the heart of Broadway, and a central hub for the subway system. Tons of theaters in the area, which attract tourists. To cater to all the tourists, there are tons of shops and restaurants -- which attract more tourists. It's the tourists that make it so busy, and it is very busy. I know plenty of locals who go out of their way just to avoid Times Square.

Forget about Tetsuya Nomura; this series has been planned since Walt Disney first came up with Steamboat Willy.

We're not as bad as the Victorians (that's a low bar), but sex is still fairly taboo, and the USA in particular is extremely repressed. That's why all the anti-LGBT bigotry on the right is able to take root so easily. Anything that's not bog-standard vanilla heterosexuality inspires a ton of pearl-clutching. If people truly felt free to explore and express themselves, we'd have a totally different political climate -- and the Manosphere wouldn't get its hooks into so many young men.

That Godskin Apostle fight was surprisingly tense!

Would you say co-op is easier or more difficult for runs like these? Feels like the fights are inherently less controlled, but I'm not good enough at the game to know if that balances out with the extra help. Like you were able to seemingly herd Maliketh around and set the pace, but Godskin Apostle looked more unpredictable (even though it was still hitless in the end).

To make America wealthy again, just go back to the 1950s tax rate with 90% for the highest bracket. Very easy solution. Historically proven to be effective.

Finally, some legitimately good news!

I hope this is an indication that the tides are changing. Other countries need to follow this example.

Damn, you make it look so easy. Like you're just slowly walking around, standing in the right spots, and demolishing the guy. This was another chaotic fight for me, but the video makes it feel calm.

The ones who voted for Trump are massively more to blame.

If you took all the people who "refused to vote for Harris" and just -- poof! -- removed them from the voting pool, then Trump still would've won. But if you took all the people who voted for Trump and -- poof! -- removed them, then Trump would be irrelevant and powerless.

I agree with this thread's general sentiment. The preservation of digital media is a good thing to strive towards. But I disagree completely that art must be preserved to be considered art. All art is transient. Life is transient. The Earth itself is transient; one day, the sun will destroy it! Some art might survive for millennia. Some might only survive for a few years, or months, or weeks, or hours, or seconds. But it's all art, no matter how long it's preserved.

The idea that "maximum realism = better art" really needs to die.

Honestly, yes. The end still may be a while coming, but this was a major security breach. A huge crack in the defensive wall. If we get more cracks like this (and we will with Trump in charge), the wall will eventually crumble and fall.

Zagreus from Hades is the only one I can remember. Which is kinda surprising to me. There's such a huge "anti-LGBTQ" backlash from right-wing gamers that I guess I had internalized it a little, and assumed the industry did have more gay characters. But nope.

At lower doses, visuals tend to be distortions of the world around you, or "inspired by" your surroundings. At least, that's been the case for me. But at higher doses, I've had full-blown trips to hyperspace.

If psychedelic trips count, then yes.

They owe everyone a lot more than $5K. To mitigate even a fraction of the damage they've done, their bank accounts should be totally emptied and the funds dispersed to the people they've hurt.

A few people have told me over the years that I might be neurodivergent. I initially brushed it off since it feels like there's an "everyone has autism" fad going around nowadays, prompting me to distrust amateur diagnoses. But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. A lot of things about my life would click into place if I were somewhere on the spectrum. If it's genetic and inherited, a lot of things about some of my family members would also click into place.

I don't even know if the shock of shutting down Social Security would sway the MAGA crowd. The family of the girl who just died from measles are now doubling down on their antivax shit. People who died from COVID were still in denial on their own deathbeds.

The USA needs cult deprogramming. This is on the level of religious mania. And people regularly, willingly die for religion. Martyrdom is a good and noble thing.

It's also symbolically wonky. Trump got a gold one. Now Fetterman got a silver one. Because they support Israel's atrocities in Gaza. But pagers were given by Israel to "the enemy" and then detonated as bombs. As a political gesture, giving people gold and silver replicas feels like -- a slap in the face, at best? Potentially an outright threat? And yet Trump and Fetterman are "thankful" for receiving them?

For my stepbrother, at least, that's a major part of the appeal. "You don't like this, and I'm doing it anyway. Ha ha! I have the power. You don't." I don't know how widespread this sentiment actually is amongst the playerbase, though.

It's funny (well, not really) how much it reflects the Bible story. Moses goes up the mountain, and as soon as he's gone, everyone immediately forges a golden calf and starts worshiping it. Apparently the "no idolatry" thing really does need to be hammered in for people to get it.

I greatly dislike invasions, and I'll play offline or stay hollowed or whatever else to avoid them. Doesn't help that my stepbrother, who introduced me to the Souls series, loves invasions and is a total asshole about them. I've watched in real life as he trolls other players with giggling, sadistic glee. The dude is legitimately clinically diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder, and the Souls invasion system allows him to indulge the worst aspects of his personality. He's also a no-life gamer who spends every waking moment playing one of the Souls games; he knows them inside and out, and most people don't stand a chance when he invades. So it's just an endless loop of him invading, toying with people, getting off on it when they lose, taunting and teabagging, and then doing it again. These memories have tainted the games, for me, from an invader's POV.

Of course they support it. Republicans only care about their team "winning," and if they have to break the law to do it, that's fine -- even desirable, because it means they're more powerful than the law. Only the "losing" team has to follow the law.

I've had this horrible feeling for a long time that Harris was Palestine's last chance at surviving as a state. As soon as Trump won, it felt to me like the war was over -- and that Israel had won too. My sense is that Palestinians will probably have to go underground, culturally, in order to just stay alive. Israel will probably conquer and absorb the land, but the people might still preserve their communities in pockets, kind of like Native American tribes in the US. I hope that I'm wrong, but the future does not look promising.

You're right. I forgot about that one (or blocked it from my mind) since it's CGI. Doesn't even feel like a Ghibli movie to me. Another misfire with Goro at the helm.

Ghibli's entire catalogue is basically gold. They have a few middling movies, but even those are "fine."

...with one exception. Tales from Earthsea. Considering the source material, this movie could've been one of the all-time greats. Le Guin is a classic author. There's so much material to mine from the books. So many directions they could've gone. Instead, it's the studio's biggest dud. Really a shame.

The fact that Christians are conditioned to revere Jesus as a "king" has done a lot to set the stage for MAGA. The right and proper godly form of society is supposed to have an all-powerful monarch at the top.

Lots of people seem to dislike this one! For me, it was one of the few bosses where I felt myself actively learning each time I lost. Then I'd come back to try again, successfully implement what I had learned, get to the next stage, die again but also learn something new. In contrast to other bosses where I might get suddenly blindsided or overwhelmed without yet realizing how to counter anything. Only took me a handful of attempts to finally win, so it wasn't a grueling boss either. Basically perfectly balanced for my play style. Plus I like the sunflower theme!

Oh wow, you wiped the floor with that one. Scadutree Avatar is one of my favorite DLC bosses.
