Yeah, I feel the same. There's sometimes a part I think would have been fun to see that they cut, but it's not usually the case.

I also think the early access thing is kind of funny. You pay the subscription, you catch up on the series you're interested in....and then you're still on the same week-to-week schedule non subs have.

I don't mind that attitude but what I don't like about that panel is Superman has got to be much stronger than whatever he's standing on. Why didn't the attack bury Superman? It doesn't make sense that he would go through his hand like a nail. It should have pushed him underground.

He's ever so slightly flying upwards to counteract the weight.

Also half of the shit Superman does violates the laws of physics, this is not the kind of thing you should be questioning.

Hollow Knight tends to get described as a Soulslike take on the sidescroller/Metroidvania genre; the latter is fine for me, but the former is not an appealing quality.

Eh, the Soulslike thing is overblown. It has the vibe of a Soulslike setting, but the gameplay is pretty different aside from the corpse recovering mechanic.

Athena dash shines when you're new and in certain rooms (that fucking witch miniboss in Asphodel), but Poseidon is just *chef's kiss*. If you get the right setup for Poseidon's dash, Temple of Styx is just a freebie.

Artemis was pretty much useless across the board; hers were the only boons I actively avoided whenever possible.

Artemis' boons are the biggest DPS increase IIRC. The one that gives all your damage a crit chance is one of the best in the game.

Yeah, calling the first Ori game a metroidvania is a bit of a stretch IMO. It's primarily just a platformer and you can go back to certain areas to get power ups and collectibles, but it's a pretty linear game other than that.

Ori 2 is a bit better in that regard. It definitely gave me a "copying Hollow Knight's homework" vibe. Though funnily enough, Silksong gives me a little bit of a "copying Ori 2's homework" vibe. The quest system is identical to the way Ori works.

That's pretty much what I expected tbh. I never really bought that he was hoarding it for his own use, it was just some degree of incompetence.

He handled the entire thing incredibly badly though.

1. Lady locked in house

2. Clamped-shut bell in lava area

3. Shut gate near that settlement with the bear or tiger roaring sound behind it

Feels like it's been forever since I've found them without coming to a solution

I don't remember the first one.

The second one requires you to do Bellhoke quests.

Obviously I'm better equipped than the first fight, but even taking that into account, I do genuinely think the "harder" version here is way easier and better designed than the first one. Dare I say, I might have even enjoyed this one. I didn't have those moments of genuine bullshit that I would get multiple times in each attempt at the first version.

That said, it's still not super well designed. In the very first topic, I saw people saying that he didn't kill his adds and that was true...most of the time. But in the very attempt I killed him, it probably only happened because he killed one of his adds at the right time.

It's definitely more manageable than the first fight, if only because he just summons the one type of add. I'm honestly way happier with that even if it is a far more difficult one, it's way easier to plan.

The RNG is still a little annoying. Funnily enough, the attack I wanted him to do the first time is now the most annoying one. Those bastards.

The double jump is honestly still fucking me up, I gotta get it into the muscle memory.

There's a bench to the right of where you get the double jump if you drop down. There are sidequests that have you doing the climb again, but just thought you should know because I was aggravated when I saw that I missed it.

Maybe it's one reason I didn't find it so bad actually, I did go back to that heating spot quite a lot.

I did Mount Fay. It was pretty frustrating at first, I just was not getting the height I needed off the hookshot, but then I looked up wtf I was doing wrong and learned that you'll cancel out of the jump boost if you hover too quickly. After that, it was honestly not too bad.

...until I got the double jump at the end of it and now I'm having trouble getting out of Mount Fay because it's fucking up my timing lmao

I think Dandadan's dub is an excellent example of localization being done well. I'm going to assume the sub lines sound the way Japanese teenagers talk, but I'm not familiar with Japanese teenagers.

I *am* familiar with American teenagers, so the dub reads way better for me because the teenagers act like the ones I'm used to.

I will say you should either take off Painted Power or up one of the difficulty sliders. You lose out on a lotta fun dialogue if you just oneshot him.
