What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually on the 25th
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will obviously think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every featured game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a featured game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month
- You also have the option of supporting 1 game each month. Your only limitation is that you can't support your own nomination

I suppose that I will tempt fate and get it all out of the way on TNF and take the Rams given the 49ers will be without their QB, TE, and top three WRs

I guess that I don't really understand this pack, which is of course my fault as I only just listened to and made inferences to what people here were saying leading up to it.

I thought it was basically a grab bag of cards from previous packs with a guaranteed 4 diamond or higher card in each pack, but the one star and above seem new as well as "foil" versions of old cards? Also, these cards are considered to be from this pack and not count for other packs? I kind of regret spending hourglasses on 20 pack openings if that is how things are.

Immortals of Aveum (XSX)

I have always had an interest in first-person magic games after being a big fan of Sudeki and enjoying Ziggurat as well. This being a much higher production made me all the more interested in trying it despite its tepid reception. I liked this quite a bit, but the game was a bit long (probably 20-ish hours while leaving most of the side stuff to be (likely not) done later), and I feel like the game needed more/better defensive options for its lengthy, high-octane battles. The game is way more challenging and in-depth than I was expecting. I also wasn't expecting it to be a linear game with open-world, metroidvania-esque style of side activities/collectibles (think Halo Infinite).

I'm not liking this week. I am tempted to do a YOLO and take like the Saints or Dolphins. I have 0 faith in the Cardinals, and while I like the Rams and Colts in their home matchups, I am not feeling that confident. I like road matchups for the Vikings and Lions, but I haven't taken a road team (don't fact check this) in years for a reason.

I didn't go back to the game after Crispy said this, but apparently there's an audio cue? It is definitely visually distracting and unnerving lol, but maybe take some punches and see if there's an obvious audio hint for when they are about to strike.

KCF has beaten Persona 5 Strikers

Battling was fun, and most of the cast was fun to play as, but my complaints of the poor Musou (is that capitalized?) implementation stuck through the entire experience.

Persona 5 Strikers (PS4)

It was fun, but having played Musou games before, I was disappointed in the lack of a more seamless experience (fighting segmented akin to Okami) and mob battles (maybe comprise of 5% of the battles, and that might be generous)

Now with the NFC teams

Seattle Seahawks - They were in contention for the #1 seed heading into the final week last season. They have long been led by their defense, but the passing offense isn't far behind. Running game is their big concern as is OL play and health.

St. Louis Rams - They have made the playoffs in something like 11 of the past 12 seasons. #1 defense in the league last season, and being one of the top defense teams is the norm for them. Running game is constantly being bombarded with injuries, and they might lose their stud QB Ryan Tannehill and maybe an OL to retirement, so there may be some work to be done on that side of the ball.

Dallas Cowboys - The last remnants of the most dominant team in our league's history are about to retire, and there's some pass catchers who are close to retirement as well, so while there's enough solid players in place, there's also many areas that will need to be addressed.

Washington Commanders - The Colts of the NFC who consistently finish around the middle of the league. Most defensive starters are nearing retirement age, and the offense needs more talent along the OL as well as a new starting HB, so there's plenty to be done with this squad.

Chicago Bears - They tied a B8NFLL record for going just 2-14, but they were much better than their record indicated with a very good offense with several players up for or winning awards. The defense wasn't good, but it wasn't terrible either. The main thing though is the lack of talent overall, so most places could use help in that regard at the very least.

Minnesota Vikings - The most successful team over the past 10 seasons, they are coming off an NFC Championship Game appearance, and have a solid group of players everywhere with maybe LB being their weakest link.

San Juan Orcas - They had one of the worst records last season, but statistically they were more of a middle-of-the-pack team, and have a recent history of doing well. A few defenders will probably retire, and with the impending retirement of WR Antonio Brown, they will almost certainly have the youngest collection of starting offensive skill position players.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - They have come a long way, but they seem to be a bit stuck not being able to break through into the playoffs. They have an aging OL that talent-wise has probably fallen into the bottom 5 or so around the league that is probably the main thing holding them back, so that would be the main concern this off-season.

Okay, a brief remark about all the open teams going by division, starting with the AFC

Denver Broncos - One of the younger QB + WR/TE groups in the league. They had the #1 offense or close it to this past season. Defense unexpectedly took a dip, but they are routinely one of the better units in the league.

Oakland Raiders - Even after some major roster overhaul within the past few seasons thanks to salary cap restraints, they remain one of the better offense/defense combos in the league. Maybe some talent deficiencies at LB and S, and you may want to decide if it is time to move on from HB Chris Carson who will be a free agent.

Portland Express - Defense took a dive, and you will probably need to get a new MLB and DE. Offense looks great on paper, but the running game has been missing for awhile. HB Miles Sanders will be entering his third season, and this is usually when HBs start to turn a corner if they ever will.

Miami Dolphins - After some real down years after struggling to replace offensive stars, they finished with a Top 5 or 10 unit on offense after some heavy investments on that side of the ball. WR duo is getting up there in age, but you still have time with them. Defense, especially against the pass, has long been the strength of this team, and it was another great year for them.

Columbus Pioneers - Thanks to salary cap restraints and retirements, the Pioneers said goodbye to a lot of starters and went from Super Bowl champions to a losing team. They still had a good offense and defense. They might lose another starter or two to retirement, and some players in the front seven are getting on in age.

Indianapolis Colts - They have seemingly been a middle of the pack team for quite a while. I would not be surprised to find out that they have a long streak going winning between 7-9 games a season. Defense seems to be in flux as they are undergoing a youth movement in the secondary and at LB while the DL is full of 30 somethings. Offense was at its best in a long time last season.

I just realized that the promo event with the Miltank and Phanpy is over, and I never got the former. I saw it at most three times, and I only ever saw the whatever you call it when all five cards are from the promo (Chansey Pick?) once.

You are looking at the top of three time figures when you should be looking at the middle one as a more realistic expectation and experience
