Yeah, I wasn't sure if the topic was about how evil they are or how much the fans hate them. In the latter case, their over-the-top villainy makes them entertaining, and they only really use Nazi aesthetics so they aren't exactly hateful towards real groups (though the Major is prejudiced against monsters)

No. You could move Pokemon from Legends Arceus through all the games in Gen 8, and transfer them forward to Scarlet/Violet.

I think I was getting it mixed up with the Let's Go games. IIRC there was something weird like that where you couldn't bring Pokemon from other games into them (or maybe the other way around)

Sucks that I'd lose my Switch and Xbox, but I'd still have my 3DS and Wii U (both are homebrewed and have been disconnected from the internet for the past 2 years) and my Anbernic emulator handheld (also has no internet connection) so...

Does it matter if it's homebrewed or not? I thought Nintendo disabled Internet for 3DS and Wii U

Yeah even if it was an American company I don't think it would factor into their decision. But lots of people have been commenting "They're doing it Friday cause of 9/11"

Genuine question: would a Japanese company care about doing something on 9/11? If anything it would probably be Nintendo of America asking Nintendo if Japan to delay the Direct, but I l don't feel like it's something that would concern them. But I've seen a lot of comments about 9/11 with regards to the Direct's timing.

Most likely more Pokemon A-Z gameplay....the game is almost out why bother? Show is something new coming out instead. We can find out soon what's on the Pokemon game they did the same for DK we got like 3 directs before it and one specifically for it....

I couldn't agree more about the Disney villains. KH2 had a number of Disney villains as bosses but they weren't as good as KH1. 1 gave us fights with the villains in their normal forms and then their final/giant forms. Even though they tried in KH2, they generally weren't as enjoyable as 1. Like, compare Oogie Boogie's fight in KH1 to KH2. Then of course you have KH3. While there are more Disney fights then people give it credit for (Titans, Marshmallow, Flying Dutchman/Kraken/Davy Jones, Dark Baymax), the quantity is pretty lacking, and some of these fights aren't the most memorable in terms of gameplay either.

Nobuo Uematsu definitely isn't a household name. I don't think any video game composer is, not even Koji Kondo (though I think they deserve it)

Yeah the Data Org bosses are so good for the most part. Some of my favorite bosses in gaming, and most of them even got remixes of their boss themes. These fights alone made the DLC very worth it. But I'm not a fan of Yozora's fight, I think it was too much. I feel the same way for Data Master Xehanort. Their ultimate attacks just go on and on

I loved this one as a kid. The surreal illusion world just had this unique vibe to it that made it really memorable

KH2 is the better game. The first game was neat for being "new" and that gave it a lot of magic. But the gameplay still needed some improvements and some areas such as Tarzan and the Mermaid worlds were just never fun to play.

I actually like the beginning of KH2. I'm apparently in the minority but I didn't mind the beginning. It doesn't drag on for that long. Plus Roxas is an amazing character so anytime getting to know him is a bonus. He's much more interesting than Sora.

As a kid I I just wanted to get back to playing as Sora and explore the Disney worlds, but now I appreciate the prologue for what it is. The mystery surrounding Roxas and Twilight Town is pretty neat. I especially like the investigation of the "Seven Wonders of Twilight Town," it has this unique mysterious feel to it and Roxas feels like he's being gaslit when no one else sees some of the things he sees. The flashbacks to KH1 are cool, and I really like how reality slowly unravels around Roxas as the days progress until you learn what's going on.

Yes, it has a special charm to it that you don't really see elsewhere. The other games have charm too, but the original hits different. It not only makes the Disney part of the game important, but at the same time it also has that late 90s-early 00s Squaresoft charm. Like for example, the grotesque final boss fits perfectly with the early 3D FF games.

And the very first time you play Jolly Roger Bay on a new save file, it's foggy and overcast, but grabbing the first star permanently clears the fog and sky, even if you go back and replay the first mission.

Now I'm wondering whether the fog clears if you get the 100 coin star before the first mission star

Gen 4 Pokemon does this, too, it adds a drum eat when you're walking.

Gen 4 does this? I know some of the gen 5 music has this but I don't ever recall seeing it in gen 4

Nothing ground breaking for me, but rewatching some Donkey Kong 64 playthroughs every so often, I finally picked up on how stage boss music is an alternate version of the stage music.

Banjo-Tooie does this as well

When I did my level 1 playthrough of Kingdom Hearts, this happened when I was trying to beat (part of) the Hades Cup. I kept losing and eventually had to go to bed, but I won on my first try the next day

General FF8 spoilers ahead

Just to run through the general flow of the game from memory starting from there..
-Party realizes that Edea is retaliating against the Gardens through missile strikes.
-Party splits up, Selphie's gang infiltrates the missile base to delay the next attack, while Squall returns to Balamb Garden to save it.
-Squall gets Balamb Garden flying to evade the missiles, but can't control it properly. Garden crashes into Fisherman's Horizon.

This is something I didn't understand. They redirect the missiles and blow up the base. But then it just doesn't matter because the missiles are still heading for Garden anyway?

Yeah I also have no clue who this Spoony is. The only thing I can say is that I assume their username is an FF4 reference

I think if FF8 fixed the difficulty to a normal levelling system, made it so that Junctions weren't super important to the games combat, and cut the last bit of the story, everything about it would be top notch. I was fine with Edea being mind controlled by Adel, but everything with Ultimecia was a bit much.

Edea was never controlled by Adel, it was always Ultimecia

I blame a lot of this on the localization. Watched a video that went over all his "whatever's" and he had a more varied list of responses. He did have a catch phrase that wasn't used as often, but it probably translates closer to something like "Excuse me" instead of "Whatever".

It's interesting you mention the mini games. After FF7 I was bracing for them, but I actually found them mostly enjoyable. Though the Timber train mission could've been better

The strange thing about discourse surrounding this topic is that people talk like Ganondorf's being revealed as the final villain was an endgame plot twist, like you beat Zant and "surprise, it was Ganondorf all along!" Even though Ganondorf was revealed halfway through the game and hinted at even earlier. I legitimately don't understand if people just forgot you learn about him in the Arbiter's Grounds or what, but it is strange.

That's confusing that it's called "Mega Hawlucha makes a comeback." Because it sounds like it already had a mega in Gen 6

VII and VIII's graphics have aged poorly. VI's crisp sprites did not age poorly.

Yeah, 16 bit games aged much better graphically than the early 3D games
