Match 1 is kinda close but I have to admit that Slowbro is kinda above average by gen 1 standards. And even though Glaceon and Cubchoo are both in Snap (in the same course), Cubchoo is the more annoying of the two so it loses points.

This album was a strange listen for two reasons. First, Only Time is so ingrained in the public consciousness (everyone knows it even if they don't know that they know it) that hearing a full album of songs that sound just like it was kind of jarring. Second, even though this album has several qualities that I typically don't like in music, I didn't outright dislike it. I mean, I was able to do 2 full listens plus additional song listens in order to make my ranking, which is more than I can say about some other ones (looking at you Natalia Lafourcade). Even if it wasn't super engaging it was suitably listenable and I was able to come up with my top songs without too much trouble as well. So that makes it count as an unexpected success if anything.

I kind of wish that I'd checked the track listing before voting for this album in the nom topic. This album doesn't really have any of the big hits that I know them for aside from Dancing Queen (I'm aware that a few of the songs were hits that I wasn't familiar with). This is probably a biased "21st century looking backwards" perspective, but I expect my mid-70s pop/disco(?) music to... do more? I wasn't impressed. Most of the songs were decently listenable (aside from my bottom few) but there's nothing here that have any desire to relisten to.

Also, I just want to say, I'm sorry for last minute scrambling on a lot of the weeks, but Thursday is my off day so the time of day when the new topics go up is the difference between me having to post on Wednesday before bed or Thursday morning/afternoon. In a hypothetical event where B8 was deleted mid-contest but the rest of the site still exists, I'd first say that we should finish the in-progress contest on another GF board before deciding how to proceed next year. But that exact set of circumstances is unlikely.

I feel like a lot of people are passively aware of Freezepop (largely due to their repeated appearances in PS2-era Harmonix video games) but not as many people make the jump to listen to their discography. This is their most recent full album (from 2020) and represents a noticeable advancement in their sound style compared to their older works.
