Juan's a victim who is just as bad as Engarde. Shout-outs for giving him a last name that's Spanish slang for orgasm.

Engarde is great. Even before the hair flip, he'd probably be a 7 just because I like his design a lot and that he's your first really sketchy defendant. The hair flip is wildly good. I knew a ton of Ace Attorney spoilers before JFA/T&T because of my excitement. Most of it was just character sprites and summaries, but I knew about the hair flip way in advance. It still hits hard when you see it. That's the writing at work. Engarde is chilling after the hair flip and, while you never truly confront him, it does feel great to see him crumble at the end.

Adrian is also great. Again, the writing works so well here. I wouldn't typically be a fan of Adrian's archetype but seeing her withdraw after being accused of murder and her issues of co-dependency hit really hard with me. I don't love her 3-2 appearance, but it's whatever. It's good to see her happy, at least.

de Killer's fun. He works his character archetype incredibly well and gives an amazing series of testimonies. He's still good in AAI2, but the big flaw with de Killer is just even more present. It's unfortunate that assassins are just kinda invincible in a game all about bringing people to justice.

I like Max's design and name, so he gets a lot of points. Him taking the trial seriously was also nice too. Out of all of the people who love Regina, I feel like Max had the least investment and was basically doing it to show off.

Regina's a good character with two big flaws. Her age makes the suitor thing in this case really strange. Her naivety is also to the point of absurdity.

Russell is one of those likable victims and a lot of the case is figuring out who would want to murder Russell. It's a nice mystery.

Ben can range from being really annoying to being pretty fun. It's easy to overlook him because a lot of the best parts of 2-3 don't involve Ben at all, but I think it's a good set-up for how caustic the behind-the-scenes are.

Moe and Acro really make this case. Moe has a really nice balancing act of being really absurd, but also really serious. He delivers some of the best lines in this case. Acro is excellent all around. Every scene with him is solid.

Franziska has a few strange gimmicks, especially since Edgeworth is fairly gimmick-less. I think the whip and foolishly foolish fools are fine, but she's really best when she throws those gimmicks away and is just herself. She's...alright with Phoenix and I think there's potential with her and Maya, considering they're the same age. But it's really her relationship with Edgeworth that are her best moments. I kinda wish they did more with her...sorta in the Investigation games, but those games are so bloated already.

Low ratings for characters in a case that ended up in the bottom 5 of the entire series. Not too much discussion here; though, some people compared Wellington favorably or unfavorably to Stickler in AJ. Which is interesting because Stickler's not who I think of as a Wellington archetype!

My Rating: 7.5

Pearl's alright. She's a good addition to the main cast and she has some good lines, but she never has high highs. I like her more for what she adds to the lore, especially regarding the Fey plot. I really like the gravely roast contradiction in 3-5. It's really interesting how they localized a wordpun puzzle, which are generally some of the toughest puzzles to localize. This one even had a visual component to it.

Adult Pearl is....fine, but it feels weird that she still feels like a kid. I don't think her personality would radically change, but it's so similar.

I'm going to keep the full list to the discussion thread, as it's only going to get longer from here on out. Gant does very well and gets into the top 3 characters. The remaining 1-5 cast gets scattered results with mostly likes. Marshall is barely in the top 10, Lana and Starr do decently well, and Goodman does well for a one-off victim. Meekins, however, is currently the lowest-rated living character so far.

Maggey's decent, but I do find her a bit of a frustrating character. She never really grows and her best scene is probably eating Gumshoe's weenies. I don't really like the Maggey/Gumshoe relationship that much, either.

Prince is a victim. I think 2-1's a fairly clever case and I do like that Prince kinda matters as a victim. Plus, he has such a good name pun.

I've always liked Wellington a lot. He really makes the case enjoyable between taking him down, his animations, and just...how dumb he is as a culprit.
