Good. I don't really care what media does or doesn't do, as long as it's what the author wants. A mangaka I like had to deal with censorship for his work quite often, including one of his manga (one I was really enjoying) being canceled in part due to the Tokyo Olympics bringing a lot of foreigers to Japan and the country wanting to put on a front for tourists by hiding "offensive" material. Criticism of Japanese media belongs to the Japanese.

Black people have been in anime for decades, and honestly, quite often the black characters are the coolest characters in the series. I'm more concerned about actual censorship meant to appease western audience expectations. Mostly a thing with sexual content (of all degrees - I've seen censorship of anything from panties to completely rewriting major story segments for localizations)

I haven't heard adaware mentioned in like 20 years. They claimed to remove spyware/malware, but were actually spyware/malware themselves back in the good old early 2000s internet. Are they actually legitimate now or something?

Like 60 or so playing on a weekend back when I was in college. I think I was averaging like 12-19 hours a day depending on if I had school that day back then.

Nowadays I'm a responsible working adult though, so I only play like 4 hours a day, 12ish on weekends.

Some of the few things I agree with. Humans are highly prone to error and bias for all sorts of reasons (personal experience, emotions, tiredness, etc). Using AI as a secondary source to review can catch things that a professional might have missed.

Yeah, no speech should have criminal consequences, with few exceptions (eg. threatening others, calling on others to take illegal actions, etc. Things where speech isn't staying as just speech). You can't just play both sides depending on what's convenient. Social consequences are one thing, but putting someone in jail for a joke just because it criticizes the president is supposed to be Russia/China's thing not "the land of the (supposedly) free"

Toronto and Vancouver are kind of outliers in the housing market. Housing prices in general are pretty overinflated, but those two areas in particular are on a different level. They're like the NYC of Canada - there's no good reason for the prices there beyond "It's Toronto", but prices continue to get more and more absurd anyway. I feel like the price drops there are just a matter of the bubble getting too big and seeing a correction at the moment, and then they'll just go back to rising again like they always have.

Checking prices in my area right now, looks like around $1200 is the cheapest for a small apartment connected to a sketchy shop on a street known for being one of the prime drug dealers/addict spots in the city. About $1650 for a 1 bedroom apartment in a safer part of the city. I don't see any 2 bedroom apartments (as in actual apartments, not just parts of houses) for rent right now under $2k. So not much changed here really - if anything it continues to get worse.

I had similar luck. My wife and I only were able to save up years ago because our rent was $900 per month, our landlord wasn't in a situation where she particularly needed money so she would only raise the rent whenever property taxes would go up. She liked the rent out to people at a low rate so they could save up.

I wish I could say the same. My first landlord was a megacorp, and they renovated the garages so they could apply for a 20% rent increase. I moved out of there into another place at comparable price to what I was at ($900ish) and then was about $1050 by the time I left 7 years later. Landlord there was a prick, and when he died, his son was even more of a prick, but COVID hit about a year or so after I moved in, and housing prices went to the moon after that... If I didn't buy a house at the moment I did, and if this thing passes, I'd probably end up on the streets lmao

The reason this is disastrous is that rent has been skyrocketing over the past 5 or 6 years. Before you could afford a small apartment on a low wage salary, now a full time minimum wage job wouldn't even cover the rent, of if it does you would have $100 a month left to live on. So where do the people who stock shelves at a grocery store, work in fast good, and other necessary but low wage jobs live? Can't afford to rent, can't afford to buy so whats the solution? Work 2 full time jobs just so you don't have to freeze to death? That's to say nothing of seniors or the disabled who can't work and are on strict mode they budgets.

Canada isn't Tokyo. Theres space to build plenty of new homes. My city has put up a ton of new buildings, only they're catered to wealthy university students so around $2000+ for a 1 bedroom or retirements homes.for the elderly at $6000+ a month. They've imported over 300,000 temporary foreign workers this year alone, and that report came out in August. Those workers are taking both units that could go to people looking to move out on their own, upgrade their lifestyle, or find something they can better afford, on top of taking the entry level jobs, so good even trying to get a second job to help out with your rent. They've done nothing to cater to our most vulnerable people in the last decade and the current homeless numbers prove it. If this passes, its going to so much higher than before and people are going die, all because they're not wealthy enough to buy a home and are at the whims of the greed of a landlord.

This. I was fortunate enough to buy a house this year, but most aren't. For context, I had to save for 12 years with rent around $1k - which would not have been possible if I weren't lucky enough to have started renting when I did. Rents in my area are about $1800 on the low end now and my mortgage is $1700 - but the bank still acts as a gatekeeper even if mortgages are cheaper. With $130k down payment, I was told I'd only qualify for a $275k mortgage - less than the cost of an empty plot of land. I needed to get TWO people to cosign my mortgage debt to be able to qualify for my $420k house (which was super cheap for the quality - most that don't need major renovations are running $500k+). Houses are literally impossible to own for the majority of people, and rents already push most into either extreme poverty or homelessness. Further increases will just exacerbate problems exponentially.

I just lump those under the same "isekaislop" umbrella at this point. Same with reincarnation stories. They're not actually isekai, but they use most of the same lame tropes and shortcuts as most isekai and are just as uncreative. Generic European fantasy setting ripped straight out of Dragon Quest because the author can't build a decent fantasy world to save their life? Check. OP main protagonist with the personality of a doorknob because the author can't create unique characters to save their life? Check. JRPG stat screens all around because the author can't write a decent fantasy power system to save their life? Check. A bunch of babes with cookie-cutter template personalities who all want protag-kun's dick because the author can't write female characters or romance to save their life? Check. Edgy antagonists with vague goals who often sexually assault the show's girls to show how evil they are because the writer can't write villain backstories to save their life? Check.

And every season has like half a dozen "different" shows that do the same thing and use the same tropes. It's just so tiring.

I blame SAO for being popular and making other writers copy its formula.

It's not something I'm super into either because of previously mentioned cookie-cutter writing in a lot of them, but Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero were both amazing. I've heard Overlord was also very good but haven't gotten to it yet.

Drop this shit, drink normal coffee if you can, or if you hate it too much, then either more coke zero, caffeine pills, or energy drinks depending on how much caffeine you need to function. I usually do a 710ml bottle of dr pepper per day (280cal) because I can't stand sugar-free pop and it's enough for me unless I'm super sleep deprived, but since you like coke zero, thats even better.

Replace your morning calories with food so you're not as hungry later, especially something with protein. I usually just go for a quick snack since I'm not a morning person. Handful of nuts, crackers and cheese, glass of milk. Peanut butter on toast is good too.

I usually have a small lunch (granola bar, sometimes another later if I get hungry again at work. Maybe a slice of pizza if we have leftovers). Dinner is my main meal where I eat quite a bit.

I saw Danny Devito doing a movie in my town once, and Guy Fieri at a food event. A girl I went to school with became a small-time actress (Hallmark movies, minor roles).
